He was a decorated amateur,345-5 and in his 8 years as a pro has amassed a 31-0 record with 28 knockouts.
I can't think of a fighter that career parallels Gennady Golovkin. Now I know his legacy is not cemented yet,but he has been a pro for several years.
He's right. I'm sick of the force fed Golovkin hype on this site which is sucks because otherwise the guy is cool, and a real sportsman.
No need to shout out him as a historical ATG now, not because he can't be that good but simply because he hasn't done that much to earn that spot. His best win is Martin Murray, period. I know that it's not certainly his fault but he still needs to fight better competition, because just based on the wins like Murray and Geale he won't be an all time great or maybe not even HOF member.
Some people are too fascinated with 'ATG' and HOF status. None of the fighters in your sig are going down as ATGs at this point nor will they enter the HOF with their current records. How about just enjoying the quality fights we get from some fighters. Both Mayweather and Pacman will be in the HOF and go down as ATGs in most people's minds, but Mayweather is one of the dullest fighters to watch in history and Pacman's last few years of fights haven't been barnburners either.
Neither Mickey Ward nor Arturo Gatti will go down as ATGs but the fights they gave us had more excitement than any 10 of Floyd's fights combined.
Enjoy the fights for what they are and let the pundits deal with who is an ATG and the people who are able to vote can deal with who gets in to the HOF.

I didn't compare him to any ATG so get up on out of here wit dat.
Don't tell me what to do Larry.

Stop it man,let him grow as a fighter and stop trying to compare him to accomplished greats...he is not even close to being there right now
This, I agree
Not in his posture but his "steps" remind me of Joe Louis.
When he lands flush it reminds me of Louis too! HA!
It's a shame there's no one to fight at 160! It looks like he has to move up and he is a perfect size Middleweight.
I agree about his size. He isn't small for 160 but he also isn't drained making weight.

I can't think of anyone who has come from a great amateur career to dominate the pros as fast and as completely as GGG. He now has 18 straight KOs with many of those KOs over middleweights that were rated among the ten best in the world when he fought them. He is the uncrowned king of the middleweights and much better than any other middleweight fighting today. Hagler and Hopkins were great middleweights but they did not get to be recognized as the world's best middleweight as quickly and easily as GGG.
Its a lil Cuban that did the same just without the KO's

reminds me a bit of sonny liston ... clearly the best in his division, knocking the sweet holy f*ck out of everybody ... ducked and avoided by the man cotto/martinez --> patterson.
