Not sure if this was posted but it's funny to look back and right before the Mayweather Marquez fight Paulie was leaning towards Pacquiao winning and explains why. At the end he even said Floyd will likely price himself out of the fight and blame Bob Arum haha
“I want to see how Floyd looks against Marquez before I make a decision on that. Right now, if I had to call it, I think it’s a tough style match-up for Floyd Mayweather. I’m not saying he loses the fight, I think until Floyd Mayweather loses a fight, he has the right to be called ‘the favorite.’ Every time he steps in the ring, I think you have to make Floyd the favorite. If I had to make the call right now, the way I see Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather, it’s a very tough fight. That’s a tougher fight than the Marquez fight – not to say that Marquez is a bad fighter. But styles make fights. Pacquiao presents the abilities to give Floyd problems
“Ever since I watch Floyd Mayweather he gives you a defense where he locks up. And a lot of the time obviously it works for Floyd. Floyd is very hard to hit, regardless of the fact. But I always thought that somebody with fast hands – that throws punches in bunches and throws them in flurries – might not land on Floyd – because he locks up so well – he has the ability to leave Floyd there. Malignaggi’s analysis starts to fascinate. “And what I mean by that is, move your hands, step out, you leave him there. Throw punches, step out. Before you know it, Floyd, if he’s giving you all this, he never gets the chance to get back off. Because you’re in and out. And that costs you rounds. Through the course of Mayweather’s career, he’s always been faster than most of his opponents. But the fast guys that he did fight did show glimpses of it. Oscar showed glimpses of that. Zab Judah showed glimpses of that – that you can do that to Floyd. The problem is you very rarely will hit him clean. So I think these guys get frustrated and get away from that. But in the meantime, what they don’t realize is that they’re probably winning rounds because Floyd is not getting off. Pacquiao doesn’t have to change anything about himself. He fights that way naturally.
Malignaggi again began to lean towards slightly towards Pacquiao. “A guy that wants to pot shot can’t pot shot you if they come in too fast. Floyd has made a career of always beating these Mexican guys. He will always beat these Mexican fighters. They’re a little slow, they give you daylight in between their punches. Floyd’s counterpunching skills and pot shots is gonna be able to slip punches in between those punches.”
“But somebody that comes so fast, not showing daylight between their punches. Guys like Judah did, guys like De La Hoya did early in the fight. You can’t put pot shots between those combinations. They’re coming too fast. Before you know it, you’re only on defense. When you want to get back on offense, the guy is leaving you there. You do that enough times in every round, what happens? You lose the round. I’m not saying they’re gonna stop him because Floyd is hard to hit. But you put yourself in a hole round-wise.”
“So I can see that being a problem for Floyd, especially as he gets older. So how will Floyd counteract that? He might price himself out of ever having to fight Pacquiao, or blame Bob Arum, that’s how he might counteract Pacquiao. Sorry, I couldn’t resist."
dang thats a complete 180, i almost can't picture paulie saying this lol
Because Manny gets praised for everything he does even if he cherry pics or ask for catch weights , fans give him too much credit for his career at 147 when the only prime fighter he beat above 147 was Timothy Bradley. Also he hates Manny's fans, and also think he was doping( the same way I said months ago if Shawn Porter was drug tested he wouldn't have that godlike power and my rep took more hits). Manny gets oveepraised and over credited for cherry picking fights.Clear media double standard.
Why would anyone hate on Manny Pacquiao? he always takes on big challenges such as brendon rio and chris algiero, not to mention he also followed in Cotto's footsteps (Leaving Arum) to make the Mayweather fight happe...oh waaait
if pacquiao was black,
paulie and IMADAZEDFL 0 M0 would be all over his nuts.
But then almost all of my pacstan friends on here wouldn't even care about boxing in the first place. I'd miss them ):
Lol at the Mayweather fanboys trying to defend Paulie's interview as fair comment when they used to call Larry Merchant a racist for saying a lot less.
What happened to "if Pacquiao beats Cotto, he might be the best fighter ever ?" @ 1:15 :pat:
this video is a good reminder of how great pacquiao is, nowadays people assume he's a welterweight, that he's the same size as floyd and should fight at 154
but lets say he wins some fights at 154, then he'll be expected to fight some 160lb'er, so it never stops
Paulie has inside dirt on the extent of Pac's elaborate doping and steroid use and it discusses him. He would never get any fights again if he went public with it (would be blacklisted by all the networks/promoters for whistle blowing), so he mentions it indirectly.
It's simple.
Paulie works for Showtime, and Manny is an HBO fighter.
Paulie is now an Al Haymon fighter as well as Floyd.
Paulie knows not to bite the hand the feeds him. He's the ultimate company man.
I don't even know if he believes his own bull***** sometimes.
He talks about Manny being the B side as if he's a Guerrero or Ortiz B side, which is complete bull..

Paulie has the characteristics of a Fl0mo, overly emotional with delusions of grandeur.
Lol. But that's the great thing about boxing. It isn't like other sports where the analyst has to be real careful about what they say when expressing an opinion. Paulie is the fighter analyst so I don't really put him in the same lane as Lampley or Merchant (although both have shared very strong opinions while being interviewed). I put him more in the Roy Jones, Ward, fighter/commentator category. And those guys freely express themselves. People may not agree with his opinion, but it's good to see someone get hyped over a fight. We're on a message board here but let's face it, we've all gotten animated just like this talking boxing with friends. Nothing wrong with that; it's the sport we love and Paulie is a naturally animated guy.
Yeah fair enough, dazed.

Wow thats the first time I've ever heard Paulie give some type of praise to Manny.
But I think Paulie popped his lid when the PED accusations came to light. To him Manny's run was tainted cuz he was on the "juice" and it just spiraled from there.
His hate for Manny is hilarious tho lol
Damn he ethered everything the tards on here believe
I can see why they hate him so much :lol1:
he talks irrationally about Pacquiao and we fans have to suffer from his biased commentary
this is not good for the sport
I am going to guess jealousy or envy, Paulie had a lot of success but he certainly didn't have Manny level success and he might be bitter that his hands kept him back from doing more with his offense.
Perhaps, in his mind if his mitts were right he could have been Manny or close to it.
he hates on Pacquiao because Manny is not only one of the greats but also a gentleman and he knows whatever he says against Pacquiao, he will not retaliate and he will still be relevant like right now he is being talked about here. But seriously who cares what paulie says?
