Purse bid for Garcia v Postol takes place on October 1st but Garcia is likely to vacate his title.
Lucas Matthysse is just below Postol in the rankings which raises the possibility of a Postol v Matthysse fight for a world title.
Who wins this fight should it take place? Vote in poll.
This is Postol's last fight:
I like what I saw from Postol against Aydin, but I'm pretty sure that Matts would cook him. He isn't that fast, doesn't punch hard, lacks agility (stiff torso), doesn't use his height/reach to its full potential, and his body seems fragile. Aydin, with his short arms and respectable power, was able to wobble Aydin in the first round. I don't think Postol will be able to withstand Matt's brute force.
Viktor "Pew Pew" Postol could very well beat my man Matthysse, but it all depends if he can withstand the Machines attack, if he can then he UD's Matthysse, Mini Wlad does have great boxing skills that maybe just be abit out of Lucas's reach.
But, as a fan of both I can't say who wins, just... May the best man win.
I don't think that Postol is that talented. He is a boring textbook fighter who relies very much on his jabs but he uses them as defense, somhow like Klitschko, just his power isn't enough to keep his opponents outside onl with his jabs (not like Klitschko) so he has to move around the ring as well. He would give problems to Garcia with his style, but IMO Matthysse cuts down the ring better and he definitely likes when he has to attack. Alexander and Judah IMO couldn't outbox Matthysse (I gave both fight to ucas, but I think I'm not the only one...) so I think neither Postol will be capable of that. Maybe Postol is better than the Judah of the last few year (and now) but I highly doubt that he is any level above of Alexander maximum the same level. On the other hand that's true that Matthysse couldn't knock out Judah and Alexander.
But I think this time he would get the KO or if not, then a UD with 1-2 knockdown (I mean he knocks down Postol),
Probably the worst possible matchup for Matthysse at 140. Fans of his should hope for something else.
Matchup's like this are the reason We like him :boxing: win or lose, his fights are highly charged and entertaining.
I think He does have better skills than some suggest, but He seems to prefer wars. That said, He did show inprovements all round in his (short) recent fight.
The fans win, that's a great fight.
Two killers going at it. Postol would be very game. Stylistically the fight is interesting.
btw Postol would KO Danny Garcia. Stylistically Postol is all wrong for Garcia.
