I strongly believe that Kovalev has the best punching technique in boxing right now. This makes him the best puncher, he may not be the most powerful or the fastest puncher but his hands are lethal because of his technique. Golovkin and Wladimir might puncher harder than him but i believe it would be scarier to face Kovalev in the ring. Heres why;
Kovalev looks like he puts nothing into his punches, its so effortless and looks like pitty patty arm shots. However this guy is able to generate so much power to KO his opponents everytime he lands a shot, even grazing/glancing blows from KOvalev hurt.
Because 'KO'valev hands move this way. It is almost impossible to see his shots coming. Compare this to Golovkin, sometimes you can tell he is about to throw a shot. But kovalevs hands and body 'move like water' as Bruce Lee once said.
His punching technique is flawless because opponents never see his punches because he never shows what he is gonna do even for a milli second while generating knock out power with the same punches.
Who agrees with me that Kovalevs punching technique is perfect and the best in boxing? Hopkins should avoid, its bad publicity for a Legend and old man to get embarrased and knocked out.
Kovalev is always composed and never throws a wild shot like 'wind miller' Deontay Wilder. I am not sure what Kovalevs punch connect percentage is but i am sure it is very high.
Kovalev is no 'Krusher', he is a 'Killer' no pun intended.

Deontay and Golovkin are better punchers than Kovalev.
Yeah Good post. IDK about judging who is the best...but been saying for while he for sure throws some of the shortest punches and most powerful shots in boxing. totally agree with what you said about them being hard to see

I agree with some aspects about Kobalevs punches, but I disagree with you that he is apart from the rest, GGG doesn't telegraph his punches like you make it seem like he does, and even unorthodox punchers like Maidana have great technique, timing, and effectiveness, and if we are taking about textbook excecution, JMM and Cotto are better than Kovalev, so is Floyd for that matter, as well as Rigo.
Imagine Valuev wearing this shirt in Europe or America, people will run away ****ting their pants.
yeah I don't think Valuev needs any particular sort of shirt for that to happen
IDK, I think Kovalev is a huge puncher. He lands little tapping quick shots that send guys flying across the ring doing the booty dew. That ****er hits hard.
Kovalev's offense is amazing. I'd love to see how Hopkins deals with him.
he'll probably foul his way through a round or two after tryign to box for a round.
then he'll pick a convenient way to get out of the fight, the way he did with dawson.
i'm thinking that he "slips" in a hard clinch, and injures his shoulder again.
if he can't do that, he's getting stopped. kovalev's workrate would UD him if he can't get the stoppage, but i think that he does.
kovalev's first punch might not land, but he throws combinations. eventually, he'll start putting heavy hands on hopkins. hopkins doens't have the chin he used to. the guy is close to freaking 50.
kovalev via knockout.
So true. Kovalev is an absolute monster, it really was colossally retarded of Cleverly to try standing toe to toe with him. But as his two most recent fights have shown running can only help you so long against the Krusha
well, cleverly had the confidence of knowing that the ref would pick him up and carry him to the corner when kovalev started to really pound on him.
GGG is more skilled and refined than Kovalev. Not to say there is a huge disparity, but GGG is marginally better technique wise.
Overall - yes. but since we are talking about punching power and technique i wanna point out, that Kovalev's straight punches are better than GGG's, they are just bad ass. He shook White with his jab and KOed Agnew with jab to the body.
