Why does Manny Pacquiao get a pass for fighting "brandon rios"?
Why does Manny Pacquiao get a pass for fighting Margarito after Margarito was coming of a TERRIBLE TKO loss?
Why does Manny Pacquiao get a pass for fighting Erik Morales after Morales was coming off a loss?
Why does Manny Pacquiao get a pass for fighting Clottey after Clottey was coming of a loss?
Why does Manny Pacquiao get a pass for fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr leftovers Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Shane Mosley?
Why does Manny get a pass for getting TKO'ed by Marquez and losing to Morales after Erki was coming off a loss?
I think people got caught up in the hype! when u look at it, yes the names where big but most of the biggest fighters Pac beat wherent near their best moment.
In reality Pac's best wins should be Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez , Marco Barrera, David Diaz and Tim Bradley.
both floyd and manny fought a washed up version of shane.
I'm glad someone else sees this. I don't know about nowadays but a good year or two after the Floyd-Mosley fight most people were praising that win like it was one of Floyd's best.
Mosley was just coming off KOing Margs looking like the Hulk, was still a huge threat, etc etc. He was shot, plain and simple. Maybe not as shot as vs. Pac, but it was not a quality win. But hindsight is 20-20, it was a good fight when it was made. Floyd's savvy team deserves props taking that fight when they did... I think they saw something everyone else didn't and sensed that it was a win-win situation.

Another Floydiot alt. Floyd best wins were against Oscar, Hatton, Mosley and Cotto then we all know how Pac made them look like a bum against him.
So I guess Floyd best wins were against Marquez, Ortiz, Canelo and Maidana but then we know how he weight cheated Marquez, sucker punched Ortiz, weight drained Canelo and gloves cheated Maidana. Ironically these floydiots including this alt gave Floyd a pass. SMH.
Therefore I concluded his best wins were against Pac and Margarito but then we all know those wins were in fantasy fights played many times in deluded floydiots mind. Nevertheless Floyd should be the FOTD. Fighter Of The Ducks.

1 manny had just been put to sleep, rios is a good brawler, nobody claims it's a great win
2 size advantage for margs, much much bigger, but other than that is was a pretty crappy matchup
3 morales had just beat manny, manny needed to avenge the loss, who cares if morales lost up in weight vs the very tricky and underrated Raheem, it's not like he took a severe beating vs zahir and was damaged goods
In the first fight morales was coming off the lose to Barrera but was one fight removed from champ at 130, it was manny's debut at 130, and it was a classic action matchup, and manny wasn't p4p yet, just an action fighter
4 clottey's loss was highly debatable to cotto.. Manny fought the winner cotto first, and then fought clottey to remove all doubt. Clottey was a top contender
5 manny was a huge underdog vs oscar,,he was jumping from 135 to 147, and was considered too small and cannon fodder for oscar.. Manny fought for the 140 lineal title vs hatton who was undefeated at that weight, and manny destroyed him. Mosely fight was just a cash grab, nothing more and not a lot of credit is given for that fight
6 how is manny getting a pass, he got knocked out cold, no one claims manny is invincible or that it didn't hurt his momentum in the sport, and cost him top p4p rankings.. He has comeback and beaten Bradley, to still stay in the top level,,
Morales has already been discussed early in the post
I don't really get the point your trying to make... Thinking David Diaz is a better win that hatton is just absurd
If you examine past FOD winners and their performance during the decades they won, its hard to argue that Manny deserved and by all accounts earned the title for his work through 2001-10. Sure an argument can be raised that there were exceptional circumstances with one fight or another during that ten-year period. But it doesn't discount the consistency Manny demonstrated throughout that period of time.
This is not to say that the FOD winner got a "Pass" it is only a statement that he performed consistently compared to his peers during that same ten-year period.
Honestly, there is a valid argument for both Manny & Floyd as FOD. But in Floyd's case, his accomplishments were overshadowed by a more active Manny. Floyd, during the same period took too much time off from the sport and that didn't help his case.
Every winner listed had a few fights with opponents that were coming off losses -- Does that diminish the opponents quality?
Absolutely not, its an uncontrollable circumstance!!
1910s: Sam Langford — Small man beat the best big men of his day. Runner up: Jimmy Wilde.

1980s: Ray Leonard: His victories over Duran, Hearns and Hagler were epic. Runner up: Julio Cesar Chavez.
1990s: Roy Jones Jr. – At his best, he inspired awe. Runner up: Pernell Whitaker.
2000s: Manny Pacquiao – Sorry Floyd but you need to fight the best to be the best. Runner up: Floyd Mayweather.
He only gets a pass on the BoxingScene message board. He gets the pass because he is worshipped by three-fourths of the people who post on this board.
ever asked yourself why 3/4 of the posters here go to pac?
You are a serious hater of the highest order. Im not sure about getting a pass and what that actually means.
But fighting and beating comfortably, lets take Joshua Clottey for example for giving Miguel a really close fight in some think he beat Miguel, Pac must be given credit for how well he beat Joshua. Not for picking him as an opponent. Even though Joshua lost, he still shows how good he was in losing.
Fighting Margarito on the other hand was brave to fight a big guy like that, and not get credit for the win potentially.
well said....
but i am presently not inclined to give any answers....
it will look a bit bad on my side to pose a question or two here instead of answers...
but reading the TS questions these came to my mind:
what is he going to do with the answers? will he contest the award pac got relative to the results of these fights? just asking...

It's not hate. I think Manny Pacquiao is a great fighter and enjoy watching him.
It's just that i feel like for some reason he gets an easier time when it comes to people judging his resume.
How do you think people would of reacted if Floyd picked the LOSER of Margarito/Mosley?
see what im saying?
morales was revenge and big money and legacy fight. are you seriously gonna choose zahir raheem over a revenge, big money ppv fight?
those other things you harp on about like margarito, and mosley, even clottey, those are not his best wins. it was a matter of promotional convenience. who cares about the mosley fight? both floyd and manny fought a washed up version of shane.
even then, who has fought more top 10 p4p fighters in the sport today? Its between floyd and manny. no one else comes close.
Manny didn't retire for 2 years at the height of his popularity like Mayweather did though and specifically say "I'm not here to call out no welterweights" before taking his "vacation"
Manny beat within the decade:
Morales
Barrera
Marquez
Cotto
Lehdwaba
Julio
Diaz
Solis
Chae
That's why he was rightfully declared the award. The Mosley, Clottey, Margarito fights were crap yes. But it's better than wrestling the Big Shooooooooooooooow in the WWE.
clottey was a good win. he had 2 debatable losses to 2 top guys. he proved he was a top guy. mosley looked terrible in 3 of his last 4 so that was a joke fight. marg had a bad loss 2 fights before but for me 1 loss isn't enough to write off a quality fighter, just like 1 win like ortiz over berto isn't enough to say that guy is a top fighter but it's enough for floyd fans for some reason.

I do, but i have to respectfully disagree. Manny doesn't get an easier time at all. His fights are criticized on this site everyday, just like floyd's. Also, my previous answer could help you understand. Taking time to read it will be wort it for everyone on this site who think Floyd gets more hate than Manny. People hate both of them and their fanbases, we need to accept that.
Bruh, its not that i care but just look at my rep bar. You can't question Pacquiao because u get bombed with hate. Yes, both are criticized but it's clear Manny gets the better treatment.

All valid questions. This thread will either be ignored and fall to page 10 or it will be trolled.
Exactly! smh
I think you guys should see my answers before you continue on the Manny fan hate train. Not all of us blindly follow, maybe we're just knowledgeable fans. Maybe if you read my response you'll learn something new :boxing:
