Noone is 100 percent when they fight, alot of fighters deal with injuries, if martinez was so injured he shouldnt of got in there....he was still the heavy favourate going in to the fight and cotto shocked the world and made history, deal with it!
if martinez fans had just as much heart as he has, they would make no excuses like he did and accept the loss and congratulate the much lighter challenger miguel cotto
Its so easy to see where you're going with this!

It didn't hold up, but Martinez recognised it's not an excuse. He's a champion in every sense of the word.
I like Martinez but he definitely took the fans for a ride. He should have never been allowed to fight. It was a sad spectacle.
Where did Martinez hurt his knee last night? When he was at his "best" wasn't he still knocked down by WIlliams and Pavlik?
When Martinez had his legs under him in the 3rd/4th rounds, why was he still being hit at will?
I have seen the fight twice now and this was mostly Cotto being plain better than Sergio as a boxer. Lets not forget Cintron and Pavlik were outboxing him during stretches of their fight.
An example of a fighter losing their legs is Yuri Foreman against Cotto. People keep saying Matinez's movement was his best asset. OK so he was going to move away faster so he could go miss more punches and get countered by Cotto?
I wonder about his camp. He didn't look like half the fighter he was and surely his team must have seen that as soon as he got in the gym. What a sad ending.
Still a great performance from Cotto.

No retard, Floyd cant have a cheap lineal title. He already had one of those against Baldomir.:nonono:
Martinez just wasn't the same... Didn't have the same bounce in his step.. Or the same zip in his straight left.
Cotto looked good though. That left hook was landing all night, and it looked sharp.
The guy was out for 14 months and had 3 knee surgeries. Martinez looked like he didnt even kno how to fight in that first round. Who want's to bet there was ZERO sparring in the Martinez training camp.
o my god, now sergio has 3 surgeries??
If the knees bothering him so much, change the style! dont relied on athletisicm so much. many great athletes still have great career after suffer horibble injuries by making adjustment.
Ps : sergio already said that his knees is not bothering him, is cotto left hook that bother him.
Sergio should have warm-up match before cotto.

^^^^^^
Good post
I was going to mention the same thing about the no sparring. I remember Martinez trainer mention they do minimal sparring prior to fights . Add to that the knee surgeries.
He looked completely lost in the first round. Martinez gambles with his knee and preparation and paid the price.
"if ur soooooooo injured, then don't take 1.5 million dollars"
LMAO @ ur casual fan logic
So what your basically saying is , Lie for the payday.
You just accused Martinez of being their just for the paycheck.
That's how far your going to go to discredit a boxer's victory?
Every fighter has a last great fight. Sergio's was against a bigger doped up Chavez, and he managed to win with broken knees and one hand only. The last two fights, those he shouldn't have fought given his condition.

If your're soo stupid dont make threads like this in here...
Yea and how many fighters are financially secure enough to just turn down big fights? How much has Martinez made in his career? Could even afford to do that and pass up on this fight despite his condition? The answer is no....

That's why he didn't use his knee as an excuse. He chose to fight so he took responsibility for the loss.
His knee was still an issue though. No one knows how recovered a knee is until it has to support your body weight while your body contorts at strange angles, which is what happens when a hook lands.
