At work I asked a *co-worker,
"Are you a fan of Floyd Mayweather?"
He replied,
"What?"
I reiterated.
"Floyd Mayweather."
"Nah," he told me. "Nah. I like Mike Tyson. Power. I grew up watching Tyson."
"He was a good, strong brawler," I said. "But how come you don't like Mayweather?"
My buddy explained, "Because he doesn't get knockouts. The guy is all tired, and he doesn't take him out. Make it worth the sixty bucks, c'mon."
Looking a little befuddled, he added.
"I mean, he's good. He moves."
I said "Ah, okay."
...
So there you have it, fellas. That's what a casual boxing fan thinks of Money Mayweather.
He said it from an unbiased perspective. It's an interesting insight. Someone from the outside seeing it for what it is. All of us on this site are fanboys (to different degrees) and have biasness.
*co-worker is African American (not that race matters, just saying for all the black power Mayweather posters who are quick to pull the race card)

you need at least 30 people as sample size in order to make a hypothesis of how casual fans think you dummy.

So what if he would have said "I love Mayweather, his defensiveness, his speed, his ring generalship. However, I hate fighters like Tyson or Stevenson or Chaves, all the do is use pure aggression and power to win fights and I hate that". Would you still say he's a casual fan?

Funny that's how I think exactly like your co worker back when The PPV draw was knocks out not some Pretty face Delahoya or Cherry Picker Mayweather no wonder why the young go to MMA

Still butt hurt that he schooled your boxer? Just get over it. Just accept the fact that May is a better boxer than him. No need to hate another boxer just because he beat your boy. Better luck next time if there is another one.
I myself have asked casual boxing fans and many "hate" May, not because he does not knock out opponents but because he shames his opponents, makes them look like amateurs for most of the duration of the fight. At least, in the Maidana fight, it was competitive for the 1st 6 rds, thanks in part to the cut incurred by May in the 4th. Else, the charade would have ended right there and the schooling begins.
Who cares? at the end of the day those who are his fans are going to be his fans, those who arn't fans arn't going to be fans....Why do ya'll feel the need to try to post some type of negative thread on him all day everyday?? you arn't going to make anyone stop being his fan
Your friend is right. No one wants to see a guy run and not take out the other guy. The only casual fans that like Mayweather like his personality or luxurious lifestyle. I can't stand Mayweather as a fighter either and I'm not a casual.
nothing new...........dats why most of us made accounts to discuss boxing with people who arent casual fans...or actually know boxing......even though alot of people on here dont know shlt either
Duh..... Everyone hardcores and casuals alike want to see fireworks and ko's.... Certain posters like certain fighters and act like they are "true" boxing fans that like straight vanilla boxing, but that's a lie.
Off topic...I like how today there's a big PPV, one of the biggest fights of the year between Cotto and Martinez..yet there's Mayweather threads being started still. It's amazing IMO.
I asked a casual fan about Mayweather; they said it was like watching the Matrix. Different people have different tastes.
^^^^^^^^^ :haha: :haha:
fraud's idiot fans really sound stupidly funny when trying very hard to defend his boring style.

This isn't some new discovery. People love to see knockouts and brutality, not "tag, you're it".
I have spoken to casual fans that like PPV fights to go 12 rounds. They feel a fight going 12 shows it was competitive, while an early TKO shows of the underdog shows the fight was a blow out. People like upset TKO's but not the favored guy getting the TKO. It kinda gives the impression that it was easy and was supposed to be easy.
Dumb thread. I asked 3 co-workers who happen to be casual fans, and they think he's the greatest boxer ever because he hardly gets hit. Doesn't make it true.
The casual fans who watch FMJ are watching for the overall show/event, not the in-ring action.
^^^
This, Alot of people who don't usually watch boxing tune into mayweather fights, they might not be fans of mayweather per'se but they tune in just because he's the biggest draw
There is a reason why UFC emphasizes on FINISHES by awarding bonuses, because the average person doesn't give a damn about how well you defend yourself.
Not everyone is a boxing/mma "purist".
I also asked a casual fan if he liked Mayweather and his response was...
I love Mayweather because I care about my health. He's the only fighter that care about his health and I appreciate that a lot.
Your buddy acknowledged Floyd's skill but simply says he prefers punchers. And he's only ONE casual fan. You cant base what the majority of casual fans think from the opinion of one guy.
