I like this fight because while JMM is one of the best counter punchers and combination punchers we have seen, he can be blown over like a feather with a crisp, well placed shot, then get right back up and go to calculated war. Maidana on the other hand has underrated defense and speed, and his power is legendary, it would be a great fight in which I see Marquez tested win or lose.
Marquez all day.. I have the impression that Marquez is able to bring another KO if he goes inspired. In the center of the ring, Juan Manuel is much more brilliant than Maidana, and he barely goes to the ropes. He would do a much better performance than Mayweather.
war marquez!!! :boxing: im all fired up now. I think the fact that Maidana can put him down with any shot, and the fact that no one wants to accept he can put together good combinations and move his head well will make it an interesting fight, it's hard to ever bet against marquez, but the same can be said to maidana to a certain extent.

Funny how people saying Marquez will get KOd by Maidana or TKOd....
lmfao DUDES NEVER BEEN STOPPED!! Dropped yes but stopped nope!
As floyd would say it would be "a helluva fight"
Marquez might not like to lead and engage the action, but he sure as hell will bring thee action once you bring it to him. And Maidana will sure come forward. I think Marquez would win by decision, by setting up nice body shots which Mayweather did not do too much of in that fight.
Marquez is still an elite fighter, even a this stage in his career. Matthysse, Provodnikov, Maidana, Rios, Khan, Peterson and Danny Garcia all get the business.
I don't think either guy gets Ko'd, they are both too proud to let that happen. This fight is a tough one to call. I give a slight edge to Maidana because of his relentlessness. Marcos has a similar forward offensive style that Marquez does well against but Maidana is very awkward to fight as well.
The thing that is hard to predict is Marquez. If he comes in motivated and ready to win it can be a war. If he sits back like he did against Bradley or Mayweather he gets beat.
More rounds are likely to be won by Maidana who wins a SD.
key to beating maidana is fighting him off of you and thats what jmm does well.....broner and may weather don't throw that many combos, jmm does and he likes to exchange.....i think he beats maidana but gets dropped a couple of times
Marquez, his commitment to his punches and variation will allow him to slow Maidana down in the early to mid rounds, after that Maidana gets dismantled. Maidana didn't want any part of Mayweather's short right uppercut to the midsection, he made sure to put his weight on top of Mayweather or wrestle to avoid that. In fact some may not have noticed but it was the short right uppercut to the midsection that prompt Maidana to use the knee, Mayweather was aiming for another one. What I'm saying here is, Marquez's body assault will be far more consistent and effective than Mayweather's. Juan is clearly a better combination puncher.
marquez EATS come forward fighters. and has more power and combination punching than floyd. marquez ud
That's true, but Maidana isn't your typical come forward fighter, he is crafty and has slick moments.
Different versions of Maidana, and people talk about Morales like a tomato can in that fight because he was over the hill, it's still Morales, a freaking legend. It was a good fight and a good win, the hate needs to stop.
Regardless I think this is a great fight and if the cold war ended I would like to see it made.
Not to mention Morales arguably beat Danny Garcia a year later.
I agree with this, even though at this stage of JMM's career I can absolutely see Maidana getting the W.

Maidana couldn't KO a fossilized Morales and Amir Khan (both men who ended up outboxing him), but he's going to KO/TKO one of the most resilient and tough fighters of this generation? I have no problem with people saying Maidana would win, he's the bigger man and in his prime while Marquez is 40+, but let's not talk nonsense here. Styles make fights and just because he looked good against defensive minded fighters like Mayweather and Broner doesn't mean he'll just walk through Marquez. JMM would welcome Maidana to come forward aggressively as it would present him with numerous openings and counter shots. The only reason this fight seems close to call or some would favor Maidana is because Marquez is old and has no legs anymore; Maidana would have been tailor made for prime Marquez if they had been in the same division.

Jmm by tko. A class c-level fighter will not give marquez any trouble.
If you don't admit Maidana is a B+ class fighter at worst, your opinion doesn't deserve respect because there is no factual evidence suggesting otherwise which means you either don't know what you are talking about, or haven't watched him, both cases revoking our opinion on the subject.
I'd put my money on Marquez winning by TKO. He'd match Maidana punch for punch, whilst lasting the sharper and more effective punches. I'd expect Marquez to get dropped, but by the 8th round I'd see him teeing off on Maidana.
