He was kept on the backburner for years, was always "kind of" a fan and realllly like his talent but then he was stuck fighting Bruseles, Ndou, etc. then within a couple years was one of the most hated athletes on the planets.
Now, he is getting ovations at games, during his intros, during cameos. Anyone else a bit weirded by this. I believe he earned it definitely, but I feel funny about all this Mayweather love.
Mayweather is well appreciated, those who I talk boxing with appreciate his craft. It's very easy for faceless alts to be irrational on here but NSB isn't at all indicative of Mayweather's perception outside these forums.
I became a fan of boxing in 2007 because of Floyd Mayweather vs Oscar. I been TMT ever since and that's the way it's always going to be. :boxing:
I don't know what 'love' you talking about OP. Floyd Mayweather Jr at this point has become a polarizing figure. That happens to the best of them , people even hated on Jesus.

It just takes time and longevity.,ll
When Floyd first hit the scene their was no way he was going to be a star back then with prime oscar, Tito, Shane, Roy, Lennox, Tyson, Holyfield being the most talked about stars, but eventually they all faded away and slowly Floyd moved up the superstar rankings till he was number 1

I would say it's the other way around. It's hip to dislike him.
ya i think it is, its funny not just to long ago in 09,10 he was hated by the world, from youtube, during the whole Pac phenomena and espn talking so much sh*t about him he was the definition of the villain during that time. I did notice now he is being more loved now, even by the same people who were sh*ting on him before. A lot of fake sports analysts on big networks and celebrities out there.
all the baller's and fake azz nickle & dime baller's "like" him becuase of the money no other reason
What are you? Some kind of expert on Floyd's fans? I thought you don't like the dude.
I think it is hip to be a FMJr fan. Nothing wrong with it IMO, after all he is the highest payed Athlete in the world. I would not have ever payed attention to boxing had it not being for Floyd Mayweather Jr. I think he attracts new fans to the sport of boxing. So in a way, he is carrying the sport. All credit to Floyd.
I don't get your sig.
That's his way of showing love to Floyd. If you take notice, he makes way more threads about Floyd than all the so-called Floyd fans. :nonono:
It's a member of this forum celebrating his new found wealth by being a part of TMT

i dont see that amongst floyd fans. i do see that mentality amongst pac fans.
floyd has been around since 1998 as world champion..
Really? I see it quite often actually. I like Floyd but a lot of his fans didn't know who he was before the De La Hoya fight. They know the personality more than they do the fighter.
I see where OP is going with this. Ive noticed a lot of people are on the Floyd bandwagon as if they are truly part of the "Money Team".. They start talking like Floyd by calling everyone haters and incessantly bringing up PPV figures. They dont know much about Boxing, but they know Floyd's persona and want to be associated with a winner.
And those are the fake Floyd fans. Everyone knows the opposite of that is Junior Gong because he is most likely a Closet Floyd Fan.

Thats the thing....trying to tell me about how great the Delahoya and Canelo fights were, when his best work was more than a decade ago :lol1:

he is one of those love him or hate him guys. i bet half those people at games are booing, but all you hear is the overall ruckus. i dont think its about whats hip, its just what happens when an athlete is able to stay on top for a long time provided his sport isnt lame.
at the end of the day he is a rags to riches story, came from a very tough upbringing and literally fought his way to the top with his own two hands earning millions in the process. the mans work ethic is legendary, its inspiring and you have to respect it.
