LAS VEGAS — A deal has been reached, in principle, to match RING No. 3-rated lightweight Terence Crawford in a defense of his WBO belt opposite Yuriorkis Gamboa on either June 28 or July 12 in Crawford's hometown of Omaha, Neb., Top Rank CEO Bob Arum confirmed on Friday.
The 26-year-old Crawford (23-0, 16 knockouts), was last in the ring for a dominant, title-winning decision over Ricky Burns in Glasgow, Scotland in March.
A former Olympic gold medalist for Cuba, Gamboa (23-0, 16 KOs) was last in action for a unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Darlys Perez in June.
The title fight will be the first in Omaha since heavyweight champion Joe Frazier beat Ron Stander in 1972, according to the Associated Press.

WOW! IMO this is better than vsMikey
Dude Crawford is gonna beat the crap out of Gamboa. Taking bets, yessir!! I wonder of Gamboa is gonna pull out, or even show for his press conferences.
We can make a wager when the time comes, Bush. Not feeling crazy confident in my boy, but I'm thinking (maybe hoping, really) that Yuri will bring a hint of his former self.
Inactivity is the word of the day. Yuri has all but ruined his career. If he weren't so inactive, I'd have no doubts about him. As it is, it's anyone's guess how this goes. Still, I have to believe Gamboa will see this fight as an opportunity to get make a statement. I think it'll motivate Yuri...and a motivated Gamboa is a dangerous Gamboa.
This is a really good fight...
Gamboa has the speed and power to overwhelm anyone, but he also has bad habits that may cost him vs top level elite guys..
I predicted a year ago that crawford would be a p4p guy in the future, so he needs to win this fight to prove me right.. So i am rooting for crawford.
Inactivity is the only thing that can stop Gamboa taking this.
Crawford is solid, nothing more. He's stationary and a little robotic, those things were fine against Burns who is extremely upright and stiff. Gamboa is fast, explosive and powerful. How much the inactivity has diminished Gamboa is my only question. Still, I'm rolling with Yuri as always.
Damn clicked it wrong, was meant to vote Gamboa.
the Cuban has this, can't see how Crawford will beat him unless the time out of the ring has seriously damaged Gamboa, we'll find out in the first round anyway.

Great fight. Crawford is legit, we'll see how much Gamboa has regressed or we'll see Gamboa is still for real. He's left a lot to be desired his last couple fights.
I like both guys, but I'm riding with Crawford on this.
