but says he's ready to sign for the GGG fight. I don't see Arum doing that so i guess the fight is dead and wouldn't be surprised to see Chavez sign with Haymon in the near future. 2014 is shaping up to be the worst year in boxing in a very very long time.

Ready to sign for my next fight, but with no extension, no another fight!!! No extension!!!! http://instagram.com/p/nW56P1gseM/

I read somewhere that Hayman was offering Chavez jr. big coin in order to join his roster. Chavez is playing hardball with Arum and hes got the leverage to do so.
Manny should learn a thing or two from Chavez but, probably to late for that.
that was never manny tho. he was always too loyal for his own good. alot of snakes in leeches around him because he cant say no to any1
its quite a shame really. thats just how he is sadly

Don't blame him, he has seen the effect of his fathers life on him and he doesn't want to make the same mistake that he did.
Chavez Sr fought for so many years and ended up broke, because he didn't take care of his finances. Jr wants to retire rich and make sure his efforts are well paid.
Arum makes a ton of money off him, it doesn't matter how good people think he is or isn't, it's about what crowds he generates and people like to watch him fight.
That's the key!
It is Chavez that is generating the interest and the revenue. At this point in his career, he doesn't really need a dedicated promoter. He can negotiate the promotions out to whomever he think will best fit the card.
The era of promoters running and at the same time ruining fighter's careers and finances is over. It just taking much too long for some Boxer's to realize that the business model has changed and they need to adapt.
Cotto, Pacman, Floyd, Canelo, Wlad, to name only a few -- Are all in a position to go free-agent. But so far, only Floyd and Cotto have made the move and look at how much more money stays in their pocket and how much control they have in their fights.
Im talking about him fighting Golovkin once he's a free agent after one more fight with Top Rank and the contract is up. Could face GGG while he's a free agent before singing with Golden Boy.
My whole life and 2014 has been below average with big fights falling through Kovalev Stevenson most notably, probably GGG vs Chavez now, Ward MIA, Mikey Garcia inactive no Uchiyama or Gamboa, Provodnikov inactive, Thurman not getting to step up. Prospects are in a stall pattern, Champions not fighting, not having big fights, or not unifying, network and promotional disputes preventing the best fights from happening even though last year it seemed to work for the fans its run its course now. Its been garbage.
Agree with you. 2014 is really a dull year, mostly mismatched filled fights. If you're a fan of mismatches then this is your year.

Manny tried to do the same thing and ended up paying royalties to GBP for a long string of fights. BTW GBP sued Arum for the loss revenue, after Pac signed a contract, while being under contract with Top Rank.
This is also basically what started the Cold War. Manny being a dumbass. But for some reason ppl attribute that to Floyd inexplicably.
In a recent interview Floyd says he's not fighting pacquiao cause he's still with bob arum. sure Floyd has nothing to do with it...

Fair enough
I totally see JCC's POV. He sees Cotto and Mayweather making more money than before as a FA. He thinks he has the name value to bring in more cash. More power to him - the longetivity for a fighter at the upper levels in short normally - so I want him and all boxers to make as much as possible.
For the others - I just see no reason to villify Arum for making a business decision. If him and other promoters were in the business of letting fighters bank 3M and then walk away - nobody would be in business.
You won't really give up, will you?
Why are you just reaching? What's leading you to assume ***8211; or reach your conclusion. ***8211; that JCCJ is not worth 3 million against GGG, anyways? Shouldn't a fan be happy that a fighter tries to get the most he/she can?
In most cases during negotiations, you get what you can negotiate, not what you deserve, my man.

If Chavez Jr is banking $3 million how much do you think Arum is getting? He'll be well compensated, you can be sure of that.
Am glad he is taking that stance!!! Some fans only care about fights they want to see now for their own selfish reasons, why should he sign an extension to get the GGG fight? It's his right to want or not sign an extension, moreover he wants the GGG fight. So the onus is on the promoter to do as the fighter wishes when it comes with him not wanting an extension.
sure. but you're seeing from Arum's perspective. From Chavez', why would he lock himself in like Pac?
Both are doing what is best for each. No need to judge either, though I believe that if Arum gets his way it is more stifling because it closes fights. So I'll side with JCC point without judging Arum

Lol...why are people trashing Arum for seeking extension - this pro game is all about ROI. Chavez wants 3M+
You guys would pay someone that kind of cash and not expect to be locked in?
If it was my money - damn right I'd be seeking contract extensions.

Did i misinterpret the Chavez tweet? He's signing something in it does he mean "the fight is made and there is no extension i got my way" or is he just publicly stating "its still not made and i refuse to sign an extension "?
Saw the debut didnt know about the others thanks.
He's saying he hasn't signed but will as long as there is no contract extension. He said that he wants to be a free agent.
