Flicked it on for 5 mins after the boxing and already heard references to George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali and Roy Jones..
Yes, the irony of my making a MMA thread on boxing forum, but they do seem to talk a lot about a 'dying' sport.
"The famous people that you have right now are the only famous people that are going to exist in the future for boxing. The Oscar De La Hoya's, the Bernard Hopkins', the Jermain Taylor's, the guys that were already famous before UFC came along. There will be no new ones."
- Joe Rogan circa May 2007.

^Seems like more and more people think this way. It's sad that the UFC has become more of a product than a sport. What a short lived prime. There's more MMA fans turning away from it than boxing fans hating on it.
nobody is hyped for any current ufc fighter, ronda is all they have. milking the virgin fanbase that loves her.

The whole novelty factor of the UFC is pretty much gone now. They peaked around 08-10 and have been on the decline ever since. It's gotten so bad that they've resorted to pushing some tart as the the promotions biggest star after Dana White spent years dismissing the possibility of ever promoting female fights.
I watched it quite extensively a few years ago and the product was ridiculously cheesy and naff even then. Right now it just seems like a really bad self-parody. Rogan is supposed to be an expert analyst but is actually nothing more than a company hype man, reduced to blurting out the same cliches time and time again.
I hate to bump this thread with a post because it doesn't belong here, but how anyone could ever like Jones is so beyond me. Dude is so ****ing irritating in all his mannerisms, pre fight bs, and fighting style. Everything.
UFC's best fighter is a class a douche bag.
Sara Mcmann will sell more ppv's. Rousey vs Mcmann did 340k, I bet this one is less than 300k

Jones is boring as hell now, he'll never be a star. Back to the drawing board for the UFC to find their next star. Rousey can only hold attention for so long before people will stop watching her.
And what is your point? That boxers are more well known than MMA fighters? You idiot. lol
And who's obsessed?
My point is MMA fans trash boxing every opportunity they get and say it's a dying sport while at the same time their commentators mention the names of 5 boxers in the space of 5 minutes trying to describe the styles of their fighters which is quite embarrassing actually. Comparing that fat Brazilian bum to Mike Tyson and Jon Jones who got hit with tonnes of shots to Ali and Roy Jones.. haha.
MMA has no history.
I like Jon Jones and he's a good fighter but he doesn't half sound false as ****..
Always thought he was a ****y bastard.
Who cares if hes ****y. He's a beast, not everyone is GSP here
That says more about the commentator than the sport you idiot. And he wasn't talking about the sport, he was talking about past champions. Your point is moot.
When do you hear Jim Lampley rattling out the names of 5 MMA fighters in 5 minutes when describing a boxing match? #Obsessed
