I, probably like many others have never watched that fight again since the night it happened. Who could blame anyone? But, I just bared through it and watched it.
Things I noticed, Alexander like usual was pulling punches, albeit not as much as in some fights, but the crowd would go crazy every time he threw for some reason. He wasn't landing, especially clean as HBO's crew was suggesting.
Kellerman was for whatever reason bias towards Alexander, of course Roy was. Was really odd. Not sure why they were pushing for Alexander.
I think rd 2 was easily Maidana, and you could give Maidana 3-4 also in close rds. There were a few there rds that Maidana could have been given, but Alexander won that fight because of the clinching.
Overall, it wasn't the bad outing that people make it out to be. First fight at 147, against a top ten fighter, who is bigger. Maidana wasn't training hard or all that interested in boxing at this point in his career.
maidana might have stolen 1 or 2 of the first 4 rounds but after that he looked disinterested. alexander's style and spoiling tactics were all too wrong for him. all things considered, i think he would do much better if a rematch happens.
As a Maidana fan this fight is not one that i look back at with fine memories. I tipped him to win By KO but when i saw pics of him at the beach 3 days before the fight looking soft then again at the weigh in i started to worry.
Even then i didn't think it would go as bad as it did, winning 1 or 2 rounds at best and looking disinterested after 3 or 4 rounds. It was the worst performance of his career, his trainer getting sick 4/5 weeks before the fight didn't help but Devon won easily and was the deserved winner.
I'm just glad Maidana got talked into staying in Boxing and moving to America to train with Robert (and recently Ariza), he is way happier now Professionally and personally than he was in 2011- early 2012 for sure. This is the best team he has worked with and it is showing in his form.
Its Funny that Khan and Devon beat him but 2-3 years later Maidana is Champion and the other 2 are in worse shape career wise at this moment. Fortunes can change and you can bounce back from defeat, like Maidana or not but you have to say he bounced back from the Devon loss well.
I didn't even bring Khan into it. This thread is about Devon Alexander easily dominating Maidana. Is that your guys excuse for Maidana getting embarrassed against Alexander?
Doesn't really make sense.
i didn't excuse him, he lost. you bring khan in a previous post and in most threads actually. i'm just saying you talk like khan is some ATG... keep posting smilles like this one to make a point :lol1:

Khan ducked Alexander, because he was afraid to lose his chance at Mayweather. A chance he never earned, like Maidana has.
Khan will never get a shot at May, because he is done as an elite fighter. He will struggle big time against Collazo.
amir's fans khan't make fun of anyone, dude is getting rocked in almost every single fight, and most probably he will get KO/TKO against collazo

Amir Khan UD12 Marcos Maidana
Never forget.
Will Maidana start crying and want to retire again after he loses? :lol1:

Devon A. is lucky he "f*cking relaxed." Chino almost dragged him into a punching match. If Alexander's cornerman didn't constantly remind him to relax I truly believe that Maidana would've won by late KO.
You come into every Maidana thread to **** on him. The butthurt you show regarding him getting the fight over Khan is on a whole other level. Back off or I will Anorak your ass.
He got dominated...
I didn't watch the fight however I saw the Compuclinch stats and it said quite a lot as to how Devon got his victory over Maidana in his debut at 147.
Let's see Devon try that now. Oh wait his ass has fallen into irrelevancy!
Perhaps he did better than initial reaction as many people though he'd KO Alexander but I was sure that Devon's range/pull punches game would get him the W. It just looked bad when Maidana seemingly stopped trying.
The exact point of this thread. Thanks
Maidana lost no doubt. The embellishment of how bad is why I made this thread.
:lol1::lol1::lol1:
"He didn't lose 10-0, it was more like 8-2."
This thread is hilarious.
