I'm surprised no one has mentioned Pac-Marquez 4! Juan may be smarter than Manny but he's inferior to Manny in every other way which includes youth, athleticism, speed, power, and experience fighting at 147. But Marquez was still able to win.
Garcia-Herrera should be an honorable mention but Danny got a gift decision.
He says athleticism and talent though. Marquez may be the inferior athlete but he's got HOF talent.
mayweather-castillo I
pacquiao-morales I
martinez-margarito
haye-thompson(or even thompson-dunstan)
guerrero-berto
but everyone has their own physical talents, most people just notice speed and agility

marquez had more power everytime they fought at 147, more power, more strength all round which lended to a better chin than pacquiao
in the 4th the strength gap was huge

Great Example. Pac went into beast mode after that first KD and it looked like he was going to steamroll Marquez by simply overpowering him with physical ability.
And then Pac went to sleep.

yeah but topic was "fights where the guy with less athleticism won".
Fail.
I even read the responses...
Anyway, recently the Mares fight comes to mind.
Kirkland - Ishida was weird too
As for older ones? Macho Camacho vs Greg Haugen should be up there.
Speaking of Maidana, Maidana vs. Ortiz.
Honestly, Maidana had nothing on Ortiz besides determination. Ortiz had more talent, skill, power, better chin, and Maidana broke him.
Broner and Maidana doesn't count... Maidana was obviously the better fighter so that in essence kind of makes him more talented...
I think in terms of true athleticism and skill gaps.. Martinez-Chavez
Floyd-Baldo
Roy Jones vs Ruiz (of most of his opposition really)
Canelo-Angulo looked bad too.
Gary Rusell Jr vs TBA
GGG vs Ishida was pretty bad...
Pac vs Rios
Pac vs Diaz
yeah but topic was "fights where the guy with less athleticism won".
I don't agree with Tyson/Douglas. Douglas was a great athlete with good power and size. He was just lazy as **** and had motivation issues.
Mickey Bey/John Molina
Silakh/Grachev
Rios got embarassed though.
The original poster was looking for examples where there was an "extreme athleticism and talent gap" and the less talented guy still won.
Lol...maybe I will read the first post next time...because just the thread title would be seemingly 90% of fights.
Pacquiao - Rios

uhhhhhhh no
Urm Yes. It's quite clear though I recognize Broner has arguably lost on multiple occasion he has the ability to do well at the lower weights as he talent and skill. He's just an idiot and there is nothing me and you can do to stop that.
