Virgil Hunter Fighters

Won't be long till Hunter has that Buddy Mcgirt stigma. Got to laugh at all the bandwagon fighters that jumped for Hunter thinking he'd make them like Ward.

Mayfield wasnt listening to Hunter and didn't seem to want it until the last round. Kid just ain't a champ. I would also argue that Berto and Angulo would have lost their fights under any trainer.

Ward is kinda his claim to fame. Doing a hell of a job there but outside of him, he's shown to be an average trainer at best. Berto got stopped under him. Angulo back to back stoppages. Khan dropped by Julio. Mayfield losing to Dulorme. It's been rough for Virgil.

But his entire non-Ward career as a trainer has been a slump. Yeah good point

Virgil is having a tough time of it right now. That just adds up the pressure on the Khan fight. After a long lay off, a poor run in his last 4 fights,fighting a tricky fighter under the spotlight of a Mayweather undercard it is looking make or break time for both of them. Ward will keep on winning though. Virgil may not be a quick fix trainer but a long term guy and the fighters he is working on may be old to learn new tricks.

Virgil hopefully dosent mess up khan's style. khan taking care of collazo tho. khan by tko.

I'm going to give him a pass on this one because Mayfield was not listening to his instructions at all. Maybe it's a lack of respect, but Mayfield was just not listening.

I think you cant really blame the trainers for a boxers performance...I mean yeah they have a role and you have a gameplan but its up to the boxer to execute.

he gets a bunch of guys that arent that good to begin with.. he trained ward his whole life, that speaks for itself

Mayfield has a skill set that a Garcia fighter usually has, and dulorme was using a skill set a hunter fighter would generally have. Was interesting. I think Garcia outclassed hunter tonight, but mayfield didn't seem to want it. What are you talking about? :lol1:

These guys are not looking good at all. Angulo looked like trash, Mayfield looked like trash....Up Next Amir Khan. Lucky for him he still has Ward. Other than that its just a band of misfits. If Amir Khan loses, which he will, expect a ton of those fighters to jump ship.

Have all of Virgil's fighters lost in their big fights beside Ward since they've been with him? I can't think of any who have won.

Not every fighter looks great in every outing. Angulo looked pretty good against Lara and Mayfield didn't look bad at all when he dismantled Herrera.

Ya, the gameplan is extremely baffling for Mayfield in this fight.
