floyd patterson. he was also a tiny HW, which didn't help.
they were all mostly his size early in his career. floyd wasn't small for the 50's era. 6 ft 185 or so.
halfway thru his career the modern heavies came though.
modern heavyweight era started with liston after floyd. 6 ft. 200 lb plus became norm.
liston is the 1st modern heavyweight champion, ali its 1st great modern heavyweight champion.
bowe, lewis for super heavies, 6'5 240 lb. guys
I have seen every fight from his 15th fight and he has never been hurt or wobbled in his prime. End.
Dude, scroll up. He was dropped by Lou Del Valle in his prime, and he was really hurt.
No he's probably confusing banging with "exchanging in the pocket." I'm not confusing anything.
He can't bang. There's nothing to refute about that.
You can call your one punch pot shots from close distance whatever you want to call them. That's not banging!
I don't want to argue with a (Mayweather) fan. Id have more success squeezing water out of a rock.
I've heard it all Today, he's a "banger" he's a "perennial phone booth fighter." I'm f.uckin done debating it. He's none of those until someone proves me otherwise.
What exactly do you mean by bang?

Jones hardly got hit but when he did, he wasn't effected as much as he was after moving down from heavyweight. Cutting weight effects punch resistance.
I have seen every fight from his 15th fight and he has never been hurt or wobbled in his prime. End.
Well, the De Valle fight was in his prime before he moved up. He was certainly hurt and wobbled by that shot.....wobbled onto the canvas in fact.
Lennox Lewis' chin gets hugely underrated. Or, to say it better, his supposed glass chin gets blown out of proportion absurdly.
In his entire career he was only knocked down the two times, and both shots would have stopped just about any heavyweight in history, bar a very, very small few. They were perfect shots, bang on the point of the chin by massive punchers. He was hit by a lot of other big punchers and never went down otherwise.
A bit like Hearns too. Hearns was stopped once from exhaustion, against Leonard in the 14th and then by Hagler and Barkley with massive shots. Apart from that, he lasted from welterweight to ****ing cruiserweight without being stopped. Beat big punchers. His chin wasn't great, but it wasn't a bad chin and certainly not glass.
terry norris, tommy hearns, julian jackson, willie pep and a few others...
tommy hearns didn't have a glass chin. his chin is underrated. ray leonard is one of the best WW of all time, and he could punch. hagler and barkley were bigger men.
terry norris and julian jackson were very good fighters, but they aren't on any reputable top 100 list.
pep didn't have a glass chin. i'm not sure where you're getting that. getting stopped several times by a bigger man and great puncher in sandy saddler doesn't mean you've got a glass chin. pep went a long, long time to start his career without being stopped.
underrated chin on lewis. he fought tons of hard punchers.
it's definitely not glass. a glass chinned HW goes down when he gets hit flush by a big puncher.
He has 'officially' been down, against Carlos Hernandez when he injured his hand. His only real knockdown wasn't official, and his only official knockdown wasn't real.
That's okay, it just balances out.
Floyd did a great job recovering. Shane did not know how to finish the job. I don't think he thought he was going to hurt Floyd. Another one of floyds greatest marketing tools, hes never "officially" been down.

Exactly, you know what you are talking about. It happened to Chris Byrd who took huge punches of heavyweights but was stopped by an unknown Lightheavyweight, even Leonard against Camacho, Dawson, and many others. Even Ice John Scully has mentioned this many times. Cutting fat is hard enough, cutting muscle as Jones did is a guarantee that an aging fighter will never be the same and advance his age even more.
Great examples. Roy pre-heavy was possibly the best fighter ever.
We havn't forgotten Roy.

Roy Jones Jr.
He was so athletic that it never got touched cleanly in his prime.
When the reflexes began to slow down we all saw what happened.

There is a video of Roy Jones getting smashed with punches as a pro and wobbling about. Can't remember what it was called now but it's like glass jaw compilation or something. I think his chin was alright but the del Valle knockdown says it all in my opinion.I have seen every fight from his 15th fight and he has never been hurt or wobbled in his prime. End.
I'd say having a bad chin is not really that bad u just have to be wise with ur style choice
Great example is khan
If he just learns how to dodged them punches and keep at it he will be a great champ in the future
The dude seems to keep forgetting he is not iron man chin and engage in most exchanges
mayweather took that great shot vs sugar shane bang on the button.
The thing is u really have to got hit in the chin a bunch of time to prove u have a great chin
Floyd's style just isn't helping us figure it out
And Shane at his age definitely can't be used as a measurement
