eric gomez, al haymon and schaefer have had some clangers lately. first baby broner walkin down marcos mudda****in maidana. then canelos baby bro with no defense vs a ko artist thompson. now garcia vs a slip and slide, jab and grab crafty veteran.
im not saying they should have fought complete cans. but styles make fights , at least give your own A-side fighters a chance to win the fight.
Gbp for the most part makes good match ups, but they are light years behind top rank when it comes to building superstars...
Gbp has never really built anyone into a superstar from the ground up except for canelo,
Top rank would have made canelo a much bigger star IMO same goes for mares, Ortiz, etc
Arum would have had canelo fighting guys like angulo for the past few years and building him up as an unstoppable force like they did manny
ortiz would've been another gbp star, but dude isn't meant to be a boxer. TR can't give that man a heart or brain.
I dunno wat type of a boxing fan u are complaining about promoters making 50/50 fights
Do u want a 60/40 match or maybe a 70/30?
Come on dude
But actually to tell u the fact that maidana vs broner was actually a 70/30 match where broner was the heavily winner and maidana the ripe cherry
But it did surprise the heck of schaefers face while he was watching the fight
He thought his boy broner would win 70% chance
So for u to complain and wants a fight where their money fighters wins for sure is just stupid
This was a mismatch on paper, worse than Broner Maidana. Mares was like a 10-1 favorite over Gonzalez.
no. they didnt think they were puttin their fighters in tough, thats the whole point. ortiz, garcia, broner were all HUGE favourites in their last fights.
dont forget Mares
It doesn't matter who Al and Eric handpick for their guys. The judges are always in motion to favour a Golden Boy fighter.
Only way to beat their guys is by KO or put a real beating on them a la Maidana-Broner.
Danny shouldnt be fighting herrera were he was predicted to win 80%
But look what happen
Sometimes this guys cherrypicks too much that karma starts to bite them in their butt for stealing our money

GBP didn't build Canelo from the ground up, I think his first fight with them was against Jose Miguel Cotto. GBP stole Canelo from some small time promoter.
And they didn't really build Mares either. Mares fought through murderers row and just exceeded expectations in my opinion.
So yeah I definitely agree with your point that Top Rank is miles ahead of GBP in building fighters. I expect Top Rank to build Felix Verdejo and Oscar Valdez into huge stars.
Good post. And I agree
Eric Gomez is pos. I remember when he was going ape s!!! Screaming at the ref to disqualify Molina when he fought Kirkland. Which the ref did. That was such bs Molina fought his heart out and was dominating Mandingo. U can tell that ref was paid off by gb. Sorry off topic but I can't stand that mf er.

GBP putting their fighters in tough, whats wrong with that ?? posters on here b*tch too much

I think the match making is fine, on paper wasn't a bad card. Juanma vs De Leon was a good match up, see how far Juanma fell. De Leon seems to get more aggressive against Juanma, didn't take as many risk against someone like Broner. Was a good fight while it lasted but Juanma does make good fights. Garcia vs Herrera turned out to be a tougher fight then expected, as a match maker these things happen. Wasn't a great fight, Herrera just made Garcia look very bad but gbp take alot of risk with their fighters. Wilder vs Scott was disappointing, nothing gbp and Wilder did, Scott just didn't bring it. On paper made sense a baby step up but Scott made it too easy for Wilder so as a step up didn't help him any. Wilder might be a tough guy to develop slowly, they might have to risk him before they think he's ready cause fringe contenders can't test him.
GBP always has had **** matchmakers. You have Danny going home and you put him against a guy that has never been KD or KO in a fight. If I were them I would have put him against Antonio Demarco or Lamont Peterson. Two veteran guys but with chins you can crack so Danny could put on a show.
its because they dont want to match any of there stars : broner thurman maidana khan against each other. so we are getting these dudes fighting lesser known fighters, that could play spoiler. like the danny fight
Meh. Its not a bad thing. I like to see fighters like Herrera get opportunities instead of being completely avoided. The cream always rises to the top and elite fighters can deal with and adjust to any style.
but the fight could have been more exciting, i think herrera is a top notch fighter who would blend well with alvarado over at top rank.
this was meant to be a showcase fight, not a fight to learn how to adjust vs herreras particular style.
