Has a fighter ever won with less.
Continues to compete at a high level
With no power and mo respect.
Imagine if paulie had power.
Guy has a granite chin, tremendous heart and pride
And ali like charisma.
He is a future hall of famer .
Give your props to paulie
Paulie basically JABBED his way to two world titles in two weight classes. He is an OVER achiever and deserves all the credit in the world. He has nothing to be ashamed of in his career as hes shown heart by fighting multiple fights with a broken right hand and the one with Cotto he had a broken hand PLUS orbital bone and finished the fight. He has never ducked anybody and please Thurman was irrelevant at the time. Now beautifully transitioned in to a commentating career at Showtime and Fox as well.
However what does annoy me is for someone whose a straight shooter:
1) Slams GBP after Diaz loss, signs with them
2) Slams Wild Card for roids, trains there
3) Slams Haymon, signs with him.
But career wise he is no doubt an over achiever.
I remember how nobody respected Paulie before the cotto fight..
As his career progressed, he gained more respect from the boxing public..
He markets himself well and for a kid that didnt graduate, hes hella articulate..
Hes a great commentator as well as a good boxer..
Hes always a live underdog..
If he had power he'd wouldve beaten broner..
You're right on the money with this. Like floyd, he doesn't wow most people with his fighting style but man does he have the gift of gab and he used that to market himsef perfectly. I always forget that he didn't graduate HS.. You could never tell by hearing him talk. When it comes to interviews Paulie and Angel Garcia are the most entertaining to listen to.

never liked that POS... he thinks he is unbias and right all the time but his scorecards and his nuthuggin of his ex opponenents show otherwise...
but one thing i can respect about him tho is he aint a b1tch like floyd...

Paulie showed what sort of fighter he is vs Cotto. His face was swelling up Angulo style by the end and his eye was badly cut from 30 seconds in but he still didn't give Cotto a moment to think through the whole fight. He's a skillful fighter but he's also got bags of heart which gets overlooked in fighters that aren't traditional brawlers. If he's got this far as a fighter without being able to bang like others at his weight, think how good a boxer he must actually be.
I was just talking about him the other day, when he was commentating on the fights from Salinas. Great boxer, with great boxing IQ and he always tells it like it is. I love when he goes on his rants about the shadiness of boxing. Teddy and Paulie are good tv.
So many people put to much stock
Into power.
For example
Guys like provo ,rios, danny, lucas and even donaire
Meet their demise vs a boxer . Skill and
Speedand toughness beats power ,will and strength.
And this is why I love boxing you don't need one punch ko power to be a top fighter. I've always liked malignaggis style, to outbox top fighters with sometimes just the jab alone is crazy. Secretly we all know Paulie has one punch ko power he just ain't about that life apparently.
