I mean, yeah I've seen Floyd have trouble with southpaws, but I feel like he's had just as much troubles with if not more with orthodox fighters as well. The only thing I can say is, Floyd's shoulder roll is ineffective against southpaws. And that's just one element of his defense. Don't tell me people are actually going by the Judah and Corley fight. I'm looking at the Shane Mosley, De la Hoya, Castillo, Miguel Cotto. All whom are orthodox fighters who gave Mayweather some troubles as well. So my question here is...how the F*CK is Mayweather's weakness southpaws? The only thing I can come up with is Pacquiao is a southpaw, therefore people brought up the two southpaws that hurt Mayweather and used it to support their argument that Pac would win.
Floyd style is as much of a nightmare to Manny as his style is to Floyd. I like to see Floyd fight Southpaws he's more aggressive offensivley. He has dominated every Southpaw he has fought Corley and Zb buzzing him equals having problems with Southpaws.
He has a few bad habits against them. For instance, he tend to back up in a straight line and that's not something that you want to do to avoid the straight left hand. Sometimes, he'll duck low under it which is a common defensive tactic. All I'm saying is as great as Floyd is at judging distance, he'll have problems against southpaws who understand foot placement and won't hesitate to shoot their straight left hand when they have the angle. Other than that, he knows how to get off first and find the angle to land his own straight right hand.
These bad habits of Floyd can play well on Pacquiao's style. Pac can place himself in a position where he can slip from from someone jab, close the gap using his fast feet and throw punches in many weird angles or straightleft. Floyd's shoulder roll defense won't be much effective against a fast southpaw who can throw fast insane angles.
Pac is very good at timing his opponent punches, slip under it then fire his own. He can't miss his counter to almost everybody that is why they always hesitate to throw knowing what they get in return.
There's a reason why Al haymons associate (I forget his name) said with absolute certainty that Floyd vs pacquiao will NEVER happen. I wonder if this is why.
Well, Pacman has the best and perfect stance of southpaw that's why Floyd will never fight Pacman. Pacman do the punches from different angles, speed, power etc. Floyd knows Pacman is to dangerous for him.:headbang:
These guys called him out but Floyd didn't welcome them and some, he ignored altogether : Martinez, Williams, Manny, .... correction to the statements made are that Floyd will cherry pick relatively weaker southpaws with open arms.
Bingo, we have a winner. I was waiting for someone to say this.
Bingo, we have a winner. I went through page after page waiting for someone to bring this up. The man welcomes southpaws with open arms.

Much riskier against a solid southpaw not an average flat-footed or slow southpaw unless they have other attributes that dwarf their weaknesses.
When people mention southpaw, they also take into consideration that if Floyd had some trouble with average or inconsistent southpaws then Floyd will have proportionally much more difficulty with an elite southpaw. That is what the real point is from my standpoint and probably others are coming to that conclusion as well. So that southpaw will have other great attributes as well beside being a southpaw.

I don't think anyone is saying that Floyd is afraid of southpaws, just that is a weakness/vulnerability that could be exploited one day. I don't see how u can say a southpaw doesn't bother him,, sure he would win but he has to work harder vs a good southpaw

You can't call it a myth if he's fighting average southpaws.
It's the fact that he has to fight out of the high guard, and does in fact get hit the hardest against southpaws.
He can't rely on the shoulder roll the way he wants, unless on the ropes.
There wouldn't be a myth if his daddy would learn to stfu. Like with many things involving Floyd when it comes to boxing, his dad makes things even worse for him. No doubt Floyd would have fought Manny by now if it wasn't for SR putting fear in Floyd.
I think every fighter looks ok against FMJ early. Even with them having some success, they do not usually win rounds. I think FMJ uses 3-4 rounds to adjust to every opponent. I do not think Manny will be any different. To me, Manny's main problem will be his lack of a strong jab.
Corley and Judah both landed some hard shots and Corley buzzed him and Judah appeared to get a glove-touch knockdown. Not a lot of fighters can say that except for Mosley... Oscar Hatton jmm canelo never landed anywhere near as effective...
when did i even mention Manny?
You didn't. But You gotta be able to see the connect... You can't start a thread about a "myth" about southpaws and Floyd and not bring up manny, since this whole myth wasn't a subject till manny and Floyd became a topic

Actually it's surprising how little time people spend focusing on Pacquiao being a southpaw. More emphasis gets put on his speed, punching power, unorthodox angles of attack and overall pedigree. He could be a conventional right hander and people would feel exactly the same way.
they both suck,,,
while i dont think its a huge weakness,,, it does cause him problems early ie corley, judah, and floyd made the mid fight adjustments to beat them,, it would be much harder vs manny
not saying that manny beats floyd, but his southpaw style with his skill level, speed, and power, and work rate would be the biggest threat to floyd,,, and much more of a threat than anyone else at 147
This^^^. Guerrero moves like he's in slow motion and Ortiz sucks and does not have a straight left. Pac's not just your ordinary southpaw. He throws combinations with power and is very quick on his feet.
