Firstly, he is so supremely skilled that most guys can not push him or match him in skill. A mismatch is never entertaining. When he met another p4p fighter he was very agressive in the early rounds, but donaire was embarassed so he was far too hesitant in the middle rounds. But everytime he landed on rigo, rigo came back with 2 more harder shots to answer.
You cant fault a guy for not being mike tyson, nobody is good enough to challenge him. Period.
Which is why you will never find a rigo fight boring, thats just how it works when you nut hug a fighter, he can do no wrong
"Nut hug"? Now you're just talking shit. In fact, you've been talking shit this whole time. I don't nut hug anyone, and you know it. I'm a Rigo fan, but I've always been about as realistic as you can expect a fan of any fighter to be. You seem to think that incessant criticism somehow equals objectivity. Give it a break.
How is it not boring if you see Rigo not attacking but always waiting for a chance to counter. He gets the points because he is a quick counter puncher and wins on points, but that's all he is.
His last 3 fights were decisions and he only has 13 pro fights, he needs to grow up and learn what fans look for in a fight. For sure he does not fight like Tyson or Ali, so he is boring. How old are you BTW, maybe you need to grow up too.
I won't deny his talent, that would be stupid, but he is really good and i don't understand why in his last fight against an opponent that he clearly surpassed he didn't go for the KO
Which is why you will never find a rigo fight boring, thats just how it works when you nut hug a fighter, he can do no wrong
It really has nothing to do with nut hugging a fighter as much as it has to do with appreciating a good tactical fight. Especially when you understand how they are trying to manipulate each other into position, and trying to draw feints, the constant battle for foot position.
Rigo vs Donaire is one of the most beautiful tactical matches I have ever seen.
Rigo vs Agbeko was hideously boring, but that was Agbeko's fault for pulling a Clottey.
I;m a huge Rigo fan, but lets not lie to ourselves. Rigo creates the high risk, low reward situation his opponents face everytime they think about throwing a punch at him. He's the best in the sport at doing it imo. We cant blame his opponents for doing what he wants them to do and not having the skill to do anything about it
Some (most :( ) find it boring, we don't.
It is Rigo's fault, he's so skilled but doesn't throw punches due to fear of being countered. That's how he fights, nothing wrong with it, but don't complain when people don't care to see him fight. I doubt he cares anyway.

LMAO....
Tell that to the unfortunate boxing fans who have watched Rigo fight:bottle:
Rigo did well for about 5 or 6 rounds against Don and took the fight to him but then he got too comfortable and didn't end it, almost all great fighters would have gone in for the kill.
Agbeko was a **** fight and performance. Rigo did enough to win. Rigo should have stopped that guy. That was the first time ever I turned off a Rigo fight.
I think its a case of matchmaking. Put him in with decent operators who will come to win. How about say a Kiko Martinez? Or a Carl Frampton? (this would be huge in Ireland with Framptons following & Rigo's Irish connection)
I understand both guys might not be overly keen too fight him but money talks. Rigondeaux vs Frampton could be huge. How about Leo Santa Cruz? Another aggressive volume puncher who shouldn't be scared too open up.
I think opposition like this is what is needed and what will make Rigo shine like a diamond.
Only potential cash cows get heaven and earth moved to be put on hbo to be seen beating on smaller guys, and weak come forward champions and opposition. Lets face it Rigo had 0% chance of ever being a super star, and that is what Bob saw but wants another one of those desperately that's why he is pulling all these hype jobs gimmick fighters out of the woodwork that he could push, but Rigo never fit the bill he is the wrong nationality, and on the wrong side of 30 as well for Arum to see a future where he is milking him.
Therefore Bobs hope was that he was just gonna be another name for Donaire's resume, but Cuban boxers have a funny way of fking up promoters cash cow plans. Now he is promoting a guy he never wanted to be successful who caught him by surprise because he underestimated him and it shows.
Has Rigondeaux fought any genuine pressure fighters yet?
Agbeko was supposed to be one :nonono:
Which is why you will never find a rigo fight boring, thats just how it works when you nut hug a fighter, he can do no wrong
Fk off Agbeko fight was Boring as sh*t but the only people who found Donaire fight boring where Donaire nut hugs exhibit a: Bob arum the biggest one of them all. The rest of us where loving Rigo traumatize Donaire lol. That face was priceless.
its his fault along with the cuban amateur system.
If floyd can change his style to be more exciting, so can rigo.
LMAO!!!
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?!
Rigo fights are far more entertaining than Mayweathers and I think both are fairly yawn worthy.
He did hang back, he just won the rare 1 or 2 exchanges that occurred each round. I was there live as well and it was painful to watch, 98% of the fight consisted of both guy posing and doing nothing. It doesnt have to be a brawl to be a good fight but only a rigo fan can call that fight "not boring". Its the same thing as Vlad fans saying he isnt boring. He's obviously good but boring
Then I'm a Rigo fan.
Its his fault that fighters under lightweight get little attention and dont sell out arenas?
Again, the guy is a lightning rod for everything. Its lame.
thats part of the problem. little guys arent big draws to begin with, so coupled with a style that isnt too fan friendly, doesnt make a great combination.
you cant put all the blame on his opponents. rigo has a part in this too. why is it all up to his opponents to make rigo look good? if youre the a-side, arent you the one that is suppose to put on the show? you get the bigger purse split, you get to headline your own card, but its up to your opponent to make you look good?
rigo can have a successful and well respected career like a Ivan Calderon, another masterful boxer. nothing wrong with that. Like Rigo, Ivan was relatively unknown outside of die hard fans. but as a main even attraction on a major cable network like HBO, he might have make some changes or sacrifices to how he approaches fights.
Oh, stop it already. To say that he did hang back is ridiculous. You want to call Rigo boring, that's fine; but the Donaire bout was a very nice fight, as far as I'm concerned. I watched it once live and twice thereafter. And I wouldn't mind watching it again. If you thought that fight was "horribly boring," it leads me to believe you only appreciate the "Rock 'em, Sock 'em Robots" type of fights.

I think Ward and Rigo have the same problem: They're both head and shoulders above everyone in their respective weight classes.
The difference is that Rigo hasn't fought all that 122 has to offer yet. Even if it does seem like he's beyond everyone else, he still needs to prove it.
The Donaire fight was also horribly boring. The fact that Rigo took a step forward for 1 min in the 12th doesnt take away the fact that the first 35 mins consisted of both guys looking to counter and barely throwing. To say he didnt hang back is ridiculous

Not to disagree with the rest of your post, but Rigo's the champion now. If a challenger wants the belt, he has to take it. It can't be argued that Agbeko really tried. And when Guillermo won the belt, it's not like he hung back. He even had poor Nonito running for his life in the final stanza. All I'm trying to say is that there really are two sides to this story.

guy has 12 fights and has 3 of the most boring fights i have ever witnessed in rigo vs addey, rigo vs cardoba and rigo vs agbeko
he's good, no doubt, but how anyone can say he isn't boring as sht beyond me
it can't always be up to the opponent to make the fight, why should the opponents have to chase him like mares-moreno or angulo-lara
if you're slower than the guy dont even bother signing to fight him, because he's only gonna take backsteps and nothing more
rigo is good, but no one should be suprised that he can't draw a crowd, it's his fault, no one elses
