Can one of the Filipino posters answer this question for me.
Every time I watch Pac fight, in the corner I always I see Buboy talking over Freddie Roach in Tagalog.
Is he translating what Freddie is saying or just making up his own thing?
Because there are times it looks like Freddie is trying to say something and Buboy is just talking over the top.
Buboy has probably made millions just for being all on Pacquiao's nuts. I bet if that even the little dog that does roadwork with Manny has made some good $$$.
One thing is for sure, there are a bunch of leeches in the sport of Boxing. Never would I expect a grown ass man with a family having a sleep over with 20 guys all in their pajamas singing karaoke.
you are right buboy made millions sticking to pac....like a leech, perhaps....
but as to pac, buboy is one leech he does not want to part with....
because buboy is one leech that does not abandon a dry host...which pac once long ago was...a dry barren host...
Like other people have already said, he's translating for Freddie. IMO I don't think Pacquiao processes (hearing) English as well as everybody thinks. He still has trouble speaking English, he probably has a tougher time hearing and processing it. And when you only have one minute to do what you gotta do, it's a lot faster when it's done in your native tongue.
And about keeping him because he's a childhood friend, who wouldn't do the same? If I was making millions and had a loyal childhood friend like that whose been with me since I was dirt poor and stayed with me 100%, I'd pay him 100k just to hold my spit bucket.
I watched some documentary about manny's rise to fame, bubuy and him are real childhood friends; -- they shared hard times together and are bound to support each other through thick and thin, he is a true friend of manny, -- this is the guy that when all else fails and manny has only a cent remaining on his pocket. Only bubuy and his family will be there for him. That's how important that guy is to manny.
Arent they like best friends since childhood? sh*t if I was poor and stumbled on millions I would break bread to my closest friends. Would even give them a job even if the job is just to follow me around and act like an entourage
what else is there to say? hes been there since day 1, since dirt poor, cigarette selling manny til today. they rode out to fame and glory together.
They did, but I keep thinking of all that cash Manny was dishing out to his faithful for stupid sh1t. Looking at Pacquiao's career is like looking at an old dog that's too infirmed to scratch yet its crawling with fleas. Money changes people and their priorities. One would like to think people you've known will remain loyal but its no guarantee in the fame or fight game.
That's not saying a whole lot about the depth of loyalty around Manny.

Manny has around him what his awareness allows. All one has to do is look at how his career is imploding, that's more a sign of Manny's apathy than Arum's treachery. Manny got in bed with a lot of guys, figuratively speaking, and all he's got for his troubles is knocked up with a tax lien and a hungry Buboy.
hes been there from the start and probably the most loyal out of pacs leech filled circle.

I always wondered that too...
Roach might have a lot of boxing knowledge but still i bet pacquiao pays close attention to Buboy.
Here is a good read about the topc i find it kind of funny tbh

thats a professional prizefighting team you're reading there, being able to talk about it afterwards and even tease and joke about it. the mark of a true warrior/legend. yeah its funny, they took it in stride. nothing to it, just another bad day at the office.

He will be the next excuse after arum is dropped. "Manny should ditch his fat best friend buboy and make us his best friends, me, manny and elle so we can make this fight. Manny make me your best friend first so we can talk business."
He is translating most of freddies instructions and giving his own. Buboy is cool. I bet he'd take a bullet for pac.
the pac vs erik 2 will clearly show you what buboy is to pac and to roach....
he is more than just a translator for roach's instructions.....for he has pac's ears and respect also....
it was buboy who had given pac the idea to assault erik the way pac did in the second fight.....
though you may not understand filipino language..you can hear buboy excitedly exclaiming "yan ang sinasabi ko" (that's what i'm telling you) more than a few times...........
Buboy translates all roachs instruction. Its just that hes more specific. Roach: just box the guy; Buboy: wag mong sabayan ng suntukan, hata lang inde pa oras makipagbugbugan (dont exchange yet with the guy, just box him. Its not yet time to exchange with him)

Sure he serves a purpose as does everyone in Manny's corner:
Arum: The brains
Manny: The muscle
Roach: Whatever
Ariza: Special shakes
Koncz: Stock tips
Buboy: The appetite
Lmao at the appetite. I agree with the poster who said what does a fat slob know about boxing. On the other hand I can understand how manny may want a close friend with him in a foreign country when he's in a tough spot in a fight.
Buboy was a childhood friend of Pac. That means dirt poor pac had a friend named Buboy. Who in this board are still friends with someone from their childhood? Pretty sure not Larry or whoever his alts are.
yup.
buboy is probably a calming influence for manny. boxers, even the great ones, need support.
additionally, buboy is a translator in the corner when manny is in deep and doesn't want to deal with the english.
i've heard this from more than once source; the first words that manny said after regaining consciousness after the marquez knockout were "buboy, where are you?"
that's friendship.
