I personally have these fight a great match up!
1. Both coming from impressive wins!
2. Both are goldengirls fighters
3. Both are punchers - KO of the year or FOTY in the making.
4. Both men talks no BS and shows it all in the ring.
5. Thurmans real test and also a good chance for a championship belt.
I cant find any cons of the match up. What do you think and who wins?:boxing::boxing:
This is not me saying Thurman is a bum-- He's not. He's big, he's young, and he's talented offensively. With that being said, he does have a tendency to brawl, his head seems to be 'right there', and there's something about the way he goes back. Devastating and skilled puncher, and generally skilled guy, but...
Then put up Chino's resume.
Then note how everybody always underestimates Chino.
I think it would be a fight of the year candidate, and would likely end in a KO, and I'd love to see it, but I'd give the edge to Chino though I wouldn't put money on it. That youth, power, and size of Thurman vs some of the known and still existing problems in Chino's game.
I'd actually repeat most of my criticisms of Thurman for GGG minus the sometimes sloppy brawling and that GGG is a cut above Thurman at this point... Though they're both fighter's I'd make time to see.
I voted Maidana by KO since you had so few options in your poll. It's a great even fight to me and I hope it happens and there is no reason it shouldn't happen. Your poll should have included options for either man winning on points, a draw, and a too close to call option.
Sorry man, I really expected this fight if it happens to end in a K.O. and nothing else.
My bad for not putting points :D:boxing:
Maidana is a ducker and cherry picker like the rest. As, has been noted, he's already said no to a Thurman fight. And he openly admitted to ducking Bradley even after his management team agreed to the fight, and he supposedly signed the contract.
Thurman is a huge welter, and would dance around Maidana landing power shots. And Maidana's shots will hurt, but against Thurman? He can handle them.
Thurman was hurt and close to losing against Diego Chaves. He adjusted and won by KO, but Chavez trains in a shantytown, poor diet, poor training, all heart and guts. Maidana can throw like Chavez best punches, and he can do it all night long as seen against Broner, and fight smarter than Chaves too. If anything Thurman just isnt at Maidana's level, at least not right now.
Jesus, its Broner all over again. Its two different fighter levels, Maidana is proven, he's been fighting at the top of he food chain for some years now. Thurman is looking great but just not on that level yet.
Once he faces some elite fighters and wins with authority then you can have a better idea of how he can do against A level fighters. I dont think Thurman is ready for Maidana yet, and Maidana sure has better fights he could get, that would get him more money, than Thurman. Maybe in a year or two, with Thurman beating some big names, sure, I'd love to see that fight.

He didn't want Thurman because he was coming from a loss and it was his second fight as a welter, can you blame him? i think if Floyd fight doesn't happen he should fight Thurman, is 50/50 fight, FOTY candidate.
Yeah, Maidana wants Floyd, can't blame him. Thurman fight could happen though as Thurman is a name now. But in 2012 he wasn't at all, he had no fights on TV.
And neither was Soto-Karass when Maidana fought him.

Yeah, Thurman wins but Maidana for whatever reason doesn't want this fight

lol at "thurman wins easy." thurman has been hurt several times, has a very leaky defense and a tendency to brawl. all three factors play right into maidana's hands.
the loss to alexander is way overblown, imo. you guys expect him to be dominated in a similar fashion every fight. nobody but alexander has had it easy with maidana. broner was supposed to have an easy time, look what happened.
Maidana chose not to fight Thurman in 2012 and it was a smart move. I can understand why he declined/ducked or whatever you want to call it. He had just lost vs Devon and was asked to fight a man who's last few fights were at 154 when Maidana at the time wasn't even sure if he was staying at 147.
Thurman had also never been on TV before so it was a high risk, low reward type of fight where even if Maidana won he wouldn't get much credit. Maidana would have only got 120K, he declined and a took a fight on the Canelo under card for 250K and vs a fighter more suited to his style and easier for a comeback fight in fighting Karras.
that win made him the WBA WW number one contender (title shot went to broner instead) and got him a TV Main event and 450K vs Lopez, then of course the Broner fight which he won for the WW title plus 800K. Seems like Maidana and his team made the right choice. he would fight him now though at some point because Thurman has a name after his last 4 TV fights and has earned it as well.
Maidana wants Floyd though like everybody else does and you can't blame him. But Maidana vs Thurman is a great fight and i feel Maidana's best chance would be to swarm him early and hurt him, maybe even get an early stoppage (Thurman isn't a master boxer, he gets hit). If not it becomes a war and either man can win. I favor Maidana but if Thurman wins he is the real deal and would have passed his acid test for sure.
Something amazes me about maidana.
Not undermining thurman but I guess training with robert garcia definitely made maidana a world beater.
Am not overhyping maidana in that extent, it's just that he is more polished now than back then.
I think hes on 3-0 with robert garcia.
If Maidana would rematch his losses, definitely he can have revenge.
For sure this fight is a 50-50 for me. A barnburner for Goldengirls:usa2:
Thurman is already next in line to fight Maidana
after winning the belt, think Maidana gets an optional defense first
and didn't he already brush off a Thurman fight? gotta check back
but it's a good fight if it happens, FOTY candidate for sure
Thurman is more polished though, so favor him to beat Maidana
Maidana was on in the broner fight, that was his night
don't expect him to look that good again though
plus he beat a so called star in Broner, so he's chasing money fights now
he shouldn't bother with that, want this damn fight to go down :boxing:
