Prince Naseem gets unnecessary hate on here. Carried absolute dynamite in both of his hands, had shaky whiskers but a massive heart. Nas had the combination of speed, power and an unorthodox style to make fights one sided, but because he always chased the knockout he gave us some memorable wars. He lost a decision to an ATG, this makes him not HOF worthy? He held 3 out of 4 (WBO, IBF, WBC) featherweight titles and if it wernt for the ABC belt politics he'd have held the 4th (WBA). His dedication to the sport was already being questioned before the loss to Barrera and after a comeback win against a former European champ, he realised he no longer had the hunger for boxing and decided to bow out.
What about 15 title defences and 3 world titles isn't HOF worthy? He gave us one of the best highlight reels ever, ending 31 of his 36 fights early. His entrances and trash talk were more entertaining than all your broners and malignaggis put together. After the highs of the Watson/Eubank/Benn/Collins era, he kept British fans entertained outside of the heavyweights and bridged the gap till the Calzaghe/Hatton era. I think if he was American there would be no question about his HOF eligibility.
No I am not a fan of Hamed. He had charisma but had to act ****y and arrogant for no real reason.
He was a good fighter, though. I did like watching him box.
EDIT - I didn't swear or anything but I guess because the word I used contained a word not allowed by the language filter I got some *'s lol
Naz is legendary... I think he should definately be put in the hall of fame... Raw talent, entertainment, power.. Never get bored of watching his fights.
I have all his fights from ITV to sky to box office including the ADIDAS campaign adverts on DVD in super quality. Lots of rare photographs too.
I loved to hate him, British boxing has never been as exciting as when he was coming into the ring with his ridiculousness nevermind the always exciting and crazy stuff that went on during the fight. Pound for pound one of the greatest punchers of all time.
Anyone who says no does not love boxing, he brought big attention to the lower weights like no body else could, had sum sik ass fyts, went all owt and would love a tear up. Whats not to like? he fought everybody in his division won every belt and lost 1 fight at the tale end of his career, after years of decline and it was a competitive fight no rigo vs donaire type affair lol.
Fast, explosive, power, huge draw, long reign as champion, won every major title in his division, beat everyone, including elite opponents, champions, former champions and future champions, only loss comes at the hands of a true ATG....should a guy like that be in the HOF?
HELL ****ING YEAH!!! This guy is just outside the top 50 ATG fighters and is one of the best ever in his division. Are you ****ing kidding me??? The fact that he isn't already in the HOF is a disgrace to the term "Hall of Fame", especially when you guys like McGuigan and Gatti in there.
Also, why in the blue hell is Eubank not inducted yet?
Yeah I was a fan, I always remember as a kid staying up and watching his fights on tv with my dad, can't remember if it was itv or not, and then there was the beer advert which I used to love, might have been 5 or 6 at the time, great entertainer!
hell yea, i wish we had more fighters like him. he had dope entrances and showed out in the ring like crazy pure entertainment along with real talent to match. simple clowns would hate on him but he was humble in defeat and had the belts for a long time.to say he was bad for the sport is insane.
Naz reminds me of Tyson in one respect.
Both were decent boxers with a huge punch. At some point they stopped listening to their trainers & thinking they could just do it with the punch alone.
Naz could have - SHOULD HAVE - been so much better than he was but from the Kelley fight onwards he was in decline skillwise. Not because of age but because of attitude.
With Tyson it was the Spinks fight.
So true, he's said several time's his devotion to his family and religion took over in the later parts of his career.
Did you see the recent documentary with him? He talks about his hand injuries and how he was out the gym for 8 months. Then he got the call for the Barrera fight that was scheduled for in 3 months time, he said his camp was a weight loss regime!
