he's a good fighter, but no. when Maidana boxes he kinda looks awkward and he telegraphs too much. Rios is much more natural in his fighting style, and people forget he's a great inside fighter. I also think Rios has the better arsenal, two handed fighter. Maidana relies heavily on his overhand right, his left is non existent. But I see what ts is doing.
I'm hesitant to say Rios is the better inside fighter as hes normally the much bigger guy and he better damn well be getting his work in seeing as thats practically all hes got. I just cant get the image of the Abrul fight out of my head.
In terms of telegraphing they're both not exactly hard to read but Maidana can throw a good left hook when he remembers and also has a pretty sweet and fairly short and crisp right cross when he decides to compose himself instead of loading up. Bam bam just walks in winging shots with no jabs. He has a stiff jab buuut he forgets it exists. I feel the only advantage Rios does have is his gas tank or ability to seem hes not tired.
Its weird because theyre kind of opposites in the way Maidana tends to fight too reserved and within himself at times and bam bam fighting outside of his means and not taking the time to sometimes just use that heavy jab he has or make a simple adjustment. He's like a Call of Duty player who will run at the same sniper, same route, and get gunned down the same way and would make his life so much easier just cooking a grenade and coming in from the side.
Both are gatekeepers with Maidana having a slight edge in terms of people he could reasonably upset.
Lol Rios, umad?
Not even a 'troll' thread... anyone disagree? What does Rios bring that Maidana doesn't?
It's possible because I think Maidana hits harder than Rios but Maidana has also shown that he can be hurt. When Maidana is hurt he makes it so obvious and needs to learn how to show a poker face.

Maidana has not been the same after the alexander fight.
He lost his mojo.

Rios has a better chin and can take a punch much better, i do not think Maidana has good punch resistance as he's been down and hurt many times especially by light punchers like Josesito Lopez and Devon Alexander.
No... Neither of them knocked him down...Both had to lean on/ push him down while he was hurt... neither were ruled knockdowns... Both hurt him with bodyshots though.
:/... Neither Josesito or Devon are light punchers and can crack when they sit down on their punches. maidana has also fought the much better and BIGGER fighters soo.... rios was buzzed vs Alvarado which is the best fighter he's actually beat not named Abril. Light puncher would be Paulie.
Maidana has more overall skill and power with Rios being practically/strictly a come forward pressure fighter who can't adjust at all. Maidana can rise off the canvas with authority and true determination and come back to hurt you. Love Rios buuut he's a less skilled Margo and Santa Cruz (*)

I think Rios brings more determination than Maidana. I'd say Marcos cuts off the ring better, has more power and is a much better finisher, but he also gets deflated in fights if he's not having immediate success. Brandon doesn't seem to mind getting hit as much. Brandon is also a comparatively fresher fighter (though maybe not so much after his two wars with Alvarado).
Both guys are warriors and I'm huge fans of them, I think I'd agree that Maidana would have a better shot at Manny too.
