They will be fine... The trainers will start making them adjust as it gets closer if it's even needed. No one will be "weaker" for it. Let the trainers worry about their fighters being well rested and properly warmed up come fight time.
Why is anyone worried about this?
Have anyone heard of "Thrilla in Manila"? There you go.
That fight was also held at that time, because that was the coolest time of day in the Philippines, according to the documentary.
Rios and PAC are fighting in a climate controlled environment.
Why not? People's minds dont work in the morning? I would think fighting late at night is more tiring after being awake all day than in the mornings
The main reason fights happen at night is because that when most people are watching, it doesnt have anything to do with biology
imo, you're better off at night, or afternoon, in the morning you are really not at your best, the body takes awhile to get working to it's full potential after you've been in a comatose stage for 8-10 hours
They've had months to change their sleep pattern and preparation for the fight, won't be a problem. It's not like they'll be fighting 1 hour after they woke up.
Brain is actually sharper in the morning. I know this from studying. Best three hours of study are the three immediately after you get up.
In saying that, some people need an hour or so to wake up completely, they're kind of dopey.
Agreed, night fights are for the fans/casino.
He would have been acclimatised, it takes about 4 days to get used to East coast time coming from the UK.
The Pac-Rios situation is different, however my understanding is that Pac v Rios won't take place until 12/1pm over there. It's the undercard which starts earlier.
12 hour difference on the East Coast, they'll start at 12pm at the latest.
Also Rios should come in a week early since it'll be a 15 hour time difference for him.
Pac's already in the Philippines...think it's an hour or two ahead of Macao
Are these guys gonna be as vigilant as if they were fighting normal time, will their brains be working right at that time.

Exactly. I actually never understood why boxers fight 11pm that is retarded. You're up ALL day long and are winding down to go to sleep and now you have to fight the biggest fight of your life? A morning fight makes far more sense

When Forch fought Ward in America, it would have been at about 4am/5am for him, was that fair? The fighter just needs to adjust their train schedule to match the change in time.

Well for some people their activity level is not at their peak in certain times. I'm most active around afternoon after work. That's when I get most of my running and work out in. When I run and work out in the morning I get tired more easily. Which is why some fighters like to train during night time. So their activity level is at their peak at fight time.
The PPV starts at 8am their time, which accommodates for US people to buy the PPV, but is that fair to have fighters fighting at that time?

Wasn't Thrilla in Manila also fought on a Sunday morning?
And agree with Russian Crushin. Main events on the east coast always start at around 11 pm. I don't understand why they have to be so late. Same with fights in Europe.
It's a poor business strategy for a fringe sport that relies on pulling in the casual fan to make up its revenue.

They are late because these fights are predominantly are in the west coast thus the three hour time difference.
Wasn't Tyson/Douglas around this same time when they fought?
And yet Douglas put on a performance of a life time the same way I see Pac doing so to Brandon...

I doubt they're awake all day, there was a 24/7 recently that showed one of these fighters sleeping and it was pitch black in the room, I can't remember who it was though.

Pac vs Rios starts at 11am, is that a safe time to be fighting? | BoxingScene Community
