Here's a few boxers who were weight-drained and as a result were stopped by their opponents.
Chad Dawson in the Ward fight
Manny Pacquiao in the Torrecampo fight
Amir Khan in the Prescott fight
Oscar De La Hoya in the Pacquiao fight
David Haye in the Thompson fight
Who else springs to mind?
Roy Jones Jr in the Tarver II fight??
Now weight-draining can either arise when the boxer has completely outgrown the weight division and could never again be effective in that weight class. Or, in some cases, the boxer has just had a poor training camp and has had to lose a lot of weight very close to fight time, like in Haye vs Thompson.
Canelo wasn't weight drained he gained 13 lbs and threw more punches vs Floyd than vs Trout. He wouldn't be in the discussion if he stayed in shape when he's not fighting don't blow up 20 lbs over your fighting weight and those problems won't happen. The fight Roy beat Tarver he was more weight drained than the 2nd when he got KO'd. The difference is Roy was more confident in the first fight and hell He was outclassing Tarver until he got KO'd.
If you can't handle the weight limit, don't sign the contract.

Sometimes it's one of those type of fights that is very hard to refuse due to it either being your biggest payday or biggest fight or first big fight in a long time.
Then you actually need to go down in weight and you realize (too late) that it is affecting your training and eventually the fight.

You forgot Diego Corrales vs Floyd Mayweather
Antonio Margarito vs Manny Pacquiao catch weight 150
Canelo vs Floyd catch weight 152. To those who have never box 1 pound can make a difference just ask Gary Russell when he black out at the 2008 Olympics
Naz vs Barrera (not saying he would have won otherwise, but sitting in a sauna the night before the fight having to shed 15 pounds is not good). Rios-Abril, Glass Jawson vs Ward, and of course...
All of Khan's defeats.
Arreola against vitali, adamek and stiverne. He lost far too much weight, pushed himself far too hard in camp. No fighters body fat% should be as low as arreolas in them 3 fights.
Dawson vs Ward
De La Hoya vs Pac
Canelo vs Money
I still think Ward wins Pac wins and Mayweather wins these fights
Just not as easy as the way they did win these fights.
inb4 Canelo :boxing:
canelo was sitting on a chair during the weigh in.
a 23 year old man needs a chair?
that's weight drained.
the kid's face and stomach were literally pulled in. i can't see how anybody would think the weight didn't effect him.
it wouldn't have mattered, as he would have lost at 154, but we need to recognize the reality of hte scenario, and that it involved alvarez being severely drained by that extra two lbs. again, the kid needed a chair at the weigh in.
Byrd against George.
Lalonde against Leonard.
Dawson against Ward.
DLH against Pac
Nice list there, I'll have to revisit the first two fights, haven't seen them for a long time.
Prince Naseem Hamed against Barrera
Quite possibly true. We know for a fact Hamed was severely undertrained for that fight because his ego got the better of him, he thought he didn't even need to train properly to beat Barrera. Imagine if Hamed had a dedicated S&C coach, the guy may well have been one of the GOATs but he's still a legend in any event.
1. A weight drained Dawson got taken out by a juiced up Ward
2. Morales in the 3rd Pacquiao fight
3. Canelo against Mayweather
4. De la hoya vs Pacquiao
i'm not saying they would've won either way but being weight drained crippled them.
