matthysse v Garcia.
I could not think of a single way that garcia would beat Matthysse apart from a fluke knockout. I was very wrong. Credit to Garcia he transformed himself for that fight and beat him convincingly.
floyd-baldomir. i listened to floyd fans who said baldomir was a beast and great fighter.
Thats funny I thought evaluating a fighter is a seeing thing , only dummies believe their ears over their eyes .
Margarito vs. Mosley- After looking at how Marg beat Cotto and how Mosley had looked vs. Mayorga I thought Marg was just going to blast through Shane with ease. Looking back at it I think even if Marg didn't get caught trying to load his gloves before that fight I think Shane would have still taken his head off. Straight ass whipping.
Tyson vs. Holyfield I- Thought Tyson was going to wreck Evander but Holyfield had come with a game plan and wasn't intimidated at all.
Trinidad vs. Hopkins- Tito was on a roll and I didn't know much about Hopkins at the time. B-Hop fought the perfect fight that night.
Pac vs Barrera I- I had seen Pac fight before this fight but I didn't think he was on the level of the great Mexican fighters at this weight class.
Matthysse vs Garcia- Garcia made a believer out of me.
So going by the question TS is asking, that doesn't mean win or lose.
I was dead wrong about the Mayweather-Cotto fight in the sense that I felt Cotto was gonna eat a lot of pull counters. I felt that way because Cotto loves to start his combinations with the jab, and finish with one. It never hit me that stepping in with the jab was gonna neutralize that from happening, it's crazy how that completely flew over me.
I acknowledged that Rigondeaux had the tools to beat Donaire, did I see that happening though? No, mainly because Rigondeaux likes to paw with the jab, use it as a range finder and I felt eventually Donaire was gonna catch him with the left hook over the top. Stupid of me not to have realized how one dimensional Donaire's left hook is, he can only counter with it from close range and he can't lead with it.
Sometimes you miss the simplest things when making a prediction.
The last fight I was dead wrong about was Bradley-Alexander. I picked Bradley to win, but I was dead wrong in that I predicted an exciting fight. I spent weeks convincing my dad it would be worth staying up till 4.30 am to watch it with me. Reminded him they both beat witter, showed him the holt and urango fights. Convinced myself Alexander wanted to be 'GREAT', so he would bounce back from the Kotelnik fiasco with a big performance. My dads friends with khans management team, so gets ringside tickets to all his fights, so I told him, khan fights the winner for all the marbles. He stayed up. Other people came round. The fight played out how it did. No one trusts my opinion on upcoming fights anymore. For mayweather-canelo, only two people came to my apartment to watch it. Bradley-Alexander done this to me.
Tommy Morrison vs Ray Mercer was the first fight I was dead wrong about.
Most recent fight I was dead wrong about was Manny Pacquiao against Tim Bradley. I wasn't really wrong, but according to the decision I was.
Bradley-Marquez is my most recent. Thought Marquez was going to really take advantage of Bradley's tendency to leave himself open in between combinations. That's the most wrong I've been about a fight in a while.
The worst fights I've been wrong about since joining here are Mijares-Darchinyan and Sam Peter against Vitali Klitchsko. The last one really bothers me too. How the hell did I pick Sam Peter to beat Vitali :lol1:
Matthysse - Garcia, although I did have major doubts a few days before the fight after having watched Garcia's prior two fights again
Donaire - Rigo, thought Donaire would send him to belial with one punch
Pacquiao - Marquez IV, predicted Pac was going to knock him out in the 5th
haven't been wrong in a while....but I was dead wrong about:
maidana vs alexander.
Man, I thought because Alexander had quit against Bradley that his mentality wouldn't be there for Maidana, who breaks weak men.
but who knew alexander would turn the fight into a prequel of Klitschko/Povetkin with all the damn clinching and holding. Over 100 clinches and holds in that fight.
I was certain Moreno was going to box circles around Mares and win a wide decision. To his credit Mares boxed when he needed to and fought when he needed to and deservedly won the wide decision
I won't say dead wrong because I knew it would be close but The Marquez Bradley fight suprised me. Even though Bradley stunk up the place he did a better job boxing then I expected him to.Marquez stunk up the place too cry baby.
DLH vs Manny- thought DLH was too big too strong
Cotto vs Manny- see DLH
Mosely vs Margarito- thought Mosely was done
Lee vs JCC Jr- didn't think JCC could beat anything better than a can
You know, I really didn't think that either, but when I saw Top Rank was quick to finalize the deal with DiBella, I got a sick feeling. I was a big fan of Lee, but knew that Uncle Bob wouldn't have made that fight unless his matchmakers were confident of Chavez beating Andy.
I actually didn't watch the fight on purpose, so I wasn't surprised when I saw the result on Twitter.
Let's see ....lately it was Wlad-Povetkin. I went with the upset. I posted that the holding would be extreme and obvious... so obvious that the ref would have no choice but to warn one of both of the fighters...which would have opened up the action. yeeah that didnt happen
Floyd-Guerrero, thought it would be more competitive.
Bradley-JMM, thought Tim would make more mistakes that he did. Of course i wanted a war, but Tim was solid regardless...when i added up my score I was surprised i had it 115-113 JMM.... TIm's performance as a whole was an eye opener imo. Never know which version will show up
