floyd Sr said he wouldnt do the fight unless it was at 147. I think canleos team had to start throwing out options to get the fight done. Floyd really just should of fought him at 154. He looks like a fool now saying that cotto wasnt his best and weight drained against pac. The exact same thing now applies to him and canelo. SMH.

They started the talks for this fight asking Floyd to fight Canelo for the WBA super champ 154 pound title at the full weight of 154. Floyd Sr. said that Canelo had to make 147 or no fight. After about two months of Schaefer trying to put the fight together the two sides agreed on a catchweight of 152. Canelo had no choice. It was agree to 152 or no Mayweather fight. Canelo's team never asked for or wanted to fight at even one ounce lower than 154 unless you are counting what they said about two years ago. Canelo's management stated they were willing to do a catchweight because their information was that Floyd refused to do any weight above 147lbs. We don't know if Floyd was prepared to do 154, although it is easy for him and Ellerbe to pretend they would have now. Exactly, Ellerbe says that Canelo's manager is an idiot, well that idiot just got Canelo his biggest payday....LOL I think his manager did very well.

Canelo has made a career of fighting smaller guys. He fights Trout in a match that was decided before the opening bell and the open scoring BS was a joke. GBP has made every effort to eliminate all of the contenders at 154. James Kirkland had brutal fights with Angulo and Molina only to get screwed in the end. Molina got screwed out of his shot in the Kirkland fight. They gave Lara a one sided-rehydration clause in hopes that Angulo could eliminate him and give Canelo an easier opponent. Angulo has been in the ring with Kirkland and Lara. Everybody at 154 has been fighting each other while Canelo took on the likes of Shane Mosley, Josesito Lopez, Kermit Cintron and Matthew Hatton.
