It seems people focus to much on these things and think these are the determining factors in fights.Boxing is not that simple, there are so many intangibles especially when you get to the elite level where EVERYONE CAN FIGHT. In my opinion the mental aspect is the most important thing, how mentally tough you are,how well you can think even when tired or hurt. The mental aspect is what separates world champions from contenders, and World champions from the elite p4p fighters.

The mental aspect is definitely important but just try to fight elite fighters with less speed. Always remember, “you can’t teach speed”.
No speed, no power- forget it.
Ortiz Jr Power and Size - WBA petition for mandatory eliminator
Ennis Speed and Size- IBF mandatory
Stanley - None of the above accept WBA mandatory
Which mandatory do the matchmakers at PBC prefer for Spence?
Power and size. Spence defense is underrated. He'd counter all day

And this is still true til this day. I took a 8 or 9 year break. Boxing is more than just punching someone. Those that do it know what I mean, the world doesn't stop because you're training or have a fight coming up.

But speed and power is important. The mental aspect of course you have to try and get right, but just with mental aspect you wont go far.
Dave boy green remembers most about SRL is his hitting power and speed.
You can tell who the real students are simply from watching them shadowbox. Not to keep shitting on him but I gotta mention him, Khan is all over the place, wild, while Andre Ward is making sure he's in position, chin is tucked in and his defense is right when throwing, that all goes into your muscle memory, so shadowboxing is vital.
Ward learned from the master too, look at Hopkins......
Speed and power are easy things to understand they are up there in neon lights, that is why all big time prospects always have one or the other and possibly both because those are easy things to understand and are a good place to start then you figure out if a guy has the things that are harder to understand.
The mental side of things is vastly more important though because being able to use your tools in a proper fashion is the key to getting the most out of them and putting yourself in the best position to win while putting your opponent at a disadvantage.

the heart, not the mental aspect...is the most telling factor of all....
when one fighter lost heart, the mind won't work...and of course all skills become nothing more than useless heavy armor that drag down a fighter to a lost cause
You mean overrated....I really like Carl but he's a mediocre boxer in my opinion: poor jab, footwork, skills but good power and great chin. But mentaly he's a fockin badass...that's why I like him.
His jab is pretty good for what he uses it for. its a range finder and nothing else really it also keeps guys honest and he can dictate the pace with it. Snappy and flashy no but effective yes.
Dedication and respect for the life outside the ring as well.
Eating and drinking right. Resting and recovering.
To be the best you need skills, raw ability, talent, gifts from God and
Ring iq. Tactics and gameplans and character.
I agree with the mental aspect of boxing. You don't have to Mayweather's boxing IQ either... You just need mental toughness. A perfect example is Lamont Peterson. His mental toughness kept him in fights he would have lost. Khan and Ortiz had him beat physically, but mental he was able to stay in both fights. It all went out the window when he fought Matthysse but I'm sure if they fight again (I doubt they will), but he would be better prepared mentally.

Speed and power correlate...But I agree with your point. The intangibles are often underrated, because they are intangibles.
Tell that to Iron Mike Tyson.
His lack of mental toughness is why he lost to fighters like Holyfield and Douglass Once his power did not get the fighters out of there he folded
