Juan Manuel marquez is one of the best counter punchers/tacticians in boxing and he has been for the better part of the 21st century. He's been the only real boxer who has been competative with Pac since he came to the U.S. and landed lots of huge shots on pac over the course of their first 4 fights. So explain to me how exactly was a perfectly thrown counter punche thrown by a very giften counter puncher lucky? Seriously how do you even begin to defend that opinion? Some bum off the street landing the perfect counter shot is lucky. JMM has thrown that same punch so many times in the gym over and over again that its ingrained into his mind. That is not luck!!!
Only the dick eating Pactards believe it was a "lucky" punch.
I feel the execution of the punch was not lucky at all. I watched the fight live and could see that Marquez was getting busted up and timed really bad. I feel the fight was concievably getting closed to being stopped or Pac getting a tko/ko.
So Marquez was in the mindset to turn this around. He was in hail mary mode. He threw a perfectly timed hail mary at the end of the round(not lucky),...The stars just happened to be aligned(Pac's foot stutter and dive),..and Voala,...Pac is out cold.
Everything after the punch WAS luck.
As a Pacquiao fan I got to say it WASNT a lucky punch. Manny fought dumb thats it. Marquez landed the perfect counter. Nice punch, perfectly placed. End of story
They will find any excuse! Hell they still believe in the wrong socks loss
Yeah lol , the wrong socks caused the cramps just ask the moronic Pac fanboys .
It is in a sense lucky because what if for a split second he hesitated then it would not be the same result. That's not taking anything away from Marquez or his victory, but luck is involved in everyday life. Pac is lucky he didn't get ktfo sooner etc.
very well said....
i could not believe that people in this forum give to much negative meanings about a "lucky punch".....
just answer these.........
did the term "lucky punch" only come about on pac jmm IV? i am certain most of people here in nsb were not yet born when even boxing experts use the term.....
did the term "lucky punch" take away something out of a win?
It looks like pac was the one who stepped on Juan's foot!!!! Pac's foot came off the canvas Marquez foot was firmly planted on the ground.
Agreed. Marquez was focused on the punch. Pacquiao made a tremendous tactical error by jumping in that far. He probably expected Marquez to fall back and Marquez came forward.
JMM is a warrior no doubt. But loosen your panties Nancy. JMM was retreating and hurt. He was swallowing blood and couldnt breath out his nose. His Punches slowed down and he went head hunting for a reason. JMM is a tough dude. Hate Manny all day i can care less. But JMM was on his way to getting stopped.
not hateing on your boy just calling out bullcrap when I see it. JMM has never been ko FACT its going to take more then a busted nose to stop JMM :biggthump
It wasn't lucky at all. Not directly. Marquez has made a separate sport out of hitting Pacquiao's face and head with his fists. He has the world record for doing this. What was lucky were Manny's lead foot getting tangled with Juan's lead foot when the punch connected. That be the lucky part.

If y'all wanna talk about JMM "tripping" Manny then stop being bias hypocrits and talk about how Pacquiao tripped Marquez in the 5th to score that weak knockdown....

I don't know man... JMM has been in more trouble than that before, he performs even better after he gets dropped or when he looks to about to be put away.

Again thats speculation!!! If you are looking for a morale victory thats fine but for us who live in reality none of that means anything in the long run and doesn't change the result that marquez clearly won the fight.
But nothing you said here tells me it was lucky. I mean you can come up with all the excuses you want and fuk barrera hes a bitter fruit who hates on every other Mexican fighter so fuk his opinion. The foot stomp thing is complete nonsense there is nothing on video that shows any such thing. All I hear from you is a whole lot of coulda woulda shoulda. My evidence is the previous 3 wars where marquez landed dozens of hard counter punches that reflects how talented he is with his counter punching skills which makes him perfectly capable of landing that shot.
look at their feet

in the gym he mastered the art of foot stomping someone into falling into his fist?
stop, if not for pacquiao's footing getting fugged up, he would neve have been standing straight up like that, with his face squared up to the punch
austin trout thought it was lucky
barrera thought it was lucky
there are some other guys too
i mean, for 1, even marquez says he didn't think it would have knocked pacquiao out, 2, marquez says pacquiao cut his punch short, it was meant to be longer and that he felt it didn't have the full power because it was cut so short
lol, luck written all over it

Amazing how people invest so much emotion on what fighters say. Does it really matter in the overall grand scheme of things?
Do we have to persecute every person who disagrees with us?
That happens all the time example Floyds check hook on Hatton! Floyd in no way landed a lucky punch that was a legitimate knock out and the momentum hatton had going forward made the pounch even more effective.
why would that have been a lucky punch? floyd was landing that punch every round, about 5 times, over and over, exactly similar looking
hatton jumps in, floyd right hands him, or check hooks him
hatton didn't trip, nothin
and hatton was so damn broken down at that point it wouldn't have mattered what floyd hit him with, he was ready to go
marquez landed the right hook as pacquiao comes in twice in the fourth fight, once right after getting kd'd and the ko punch, he attempted it ALOT of times, also attempted it alot in the 3rd fight too, but i dont recall ever landed it
but there was a crucial difference here, a stroke of ****ing luck, stepping on pacquiao's foot, leaving him a sitting duck, squared, falling towards a cannonball
