When tony confronted floyd

I agree that Floyd wanted the Oscar fight but he actually bought out his contract with Arum to not fight Margarito and also claimed he had a hand injury. The fight was supposed to happen in summer of '06. Please like Margarito really had anything to do with that. Haymon was already in his ear. It was a business decision not a boxing decision.

He would nail tony with counters that he wouldnt see coming and even though floyd isnt a KO artist he definitely has enough sting in his shots to make you think twice The power thing I agree on, but Floyd likes to rest on the ropes. I'm not sure if it's a "catching a breather" kinda thing or what, but if did that against Margo, that would NOT be good. The fight would be good, is all I'm saying. I would've liked to see someone really test his stamina at Welterweight.

If Margo got away with the plaster he would have won. If not, Floyd picks him apart easy.

I think it would have been a helluva fight. It would have been Floyd's most physically taxing fight. He wouldn't be able to throw just one punch at a time, he'd have to get Tony to respect his power. He'd have to constantly be moving all 3 minutes of every round. Either Floyd wins by close decision (115-113, 116-112) or Margo wears him down late and TKO's him. I honestly do not think this fight would've been a walk in the park at all for Floyd. Floyd WIDE UD in a boring affair. I would've been pulling for Margarito in a huge way but he didn't have the foot speed to keep up with Floyd for that relentless pressure AND (unlike Cotto) Lil' Floyd does not tire. EVER. Pot-shot exhibition that would have won Floyd no new fans.

Career high payday at the time (8 million) to fight Tony. Floyd said no and left. What's so hard to understand about that? I'm saying he should've chosen a career-high payday at the time. With or without the contract extension? We see it everyday in boxing but with Floyd we forget the rules don't exist. Shaw did it to Bradley with the Khan fight. Arum did it to Gamboa with the Rios fight. "Sure i'll pay you but you have to sign this extension first." And he did choose his career high payday at the time. Oscar...

Tony would have walked him down something fierce. But in hindsight I'm now glad this fight never happened. It would have been a shame for Floyd to have what happened to Cotto happen to him.

He also changed promotional companies when the Tony fight was brought up in 2006 when they both fought for Top Rank. Floyd literally avoided Tony at all costs. You must be on that A-side meth. Mayweather left Arum when Margarito was a nobody trying to make a name for himself -- around the same time Margarito lost to Daniel Santos and before he lost to Paul Williams and was getting his ass handed to him by Joshua Clottey before Clottey was disqualified. He left Arum because Arum was doing the same thing to him that he did to Zahir Raheem and Rigondeaux -- he didn't promote them the way he should have because he focused all his attention on the Hispanic fighters. Plus, Arum was ripping Mayweather off just like he is doing to Pacquaio.
