I mean, Lopez ate shots from Alvarez who was 2 weight classes bigger, for 5 rounds. He was taken out by Maidana.
What happened to Khan's chin from his Maidana fight? Is it really as bad as we think or what?
I want to know when Cortez stopped Maidana from KOing Khan.
Maidana had 8 full minutes to KO Khan. Not only did he fail, but he lost the 12th round against a glass chinned, rubber legged Amir :lol1:
Wow Maidana must have pissed in your tea. You seem so angry that Maidana has racked up some good wins and his boxing career's future currently looks more promising than Khan's. Also that he would likely destroy Khan in a rematch. I mean Diaz was close to doing it so, lol.
Khan wobbled his way to victory.
Khan is able to absorb better punches when he sees them coming ala Maidana and Peterson.
When he has gotten knocked down or out it is usually on a counter he doesn't see.
Spot on. And that's Khan's main weakness right there.
The guy gets caught with those shots because he has no anticipation whatsoever of what's coming back. Most guys who like to throw combinations in the pocket have some understanding of what's coming back after each shot and are already moving to avoid it after they throw themselves.
Khan doesn't. He fights like he's on the heavy bag.

HE DOES NOT HAVE A WORLD CLASS CHIN, he is the Fernando Vargas of the 140 lbs. Simply to brave for his chin
Too much hate on khan, if the gameplan is good and he doesnt get too arrogant he beat most people he lost to. Especially Garcia.
The one thing Garcia does really well is counter guys with fast hands. It's not like the left hook was the first shot he landed, he put a lot of solid counter rights on Khan while Khan was throwing his flurries. And left hook landed he flicked the switch and Khan's legs turned to jelly.
Khan is so dependent on darting in and out and using his handspeed that I can't imagine Danny not timing him and landing something big again. Khan will always expose himself in the pocket as he doesn't have the ability to slip and roll shots and he seemingly has no ability to anticipate his opponent's counters. If he's to survive 12 rounds with Garcia he's going to have to get very lucky.
That punch was brutal and Maidana getting up and surviving that showed unbelievable heart and determination.
I went to Vegas for the fight with my girl because I love Marcos and hate Khan and when that punch landed I looked at her immediately and said "it's over" and I got up out of my seat and got ready to walk out.
Cortez was awful the lowlight being when he took a point off of Marcos for elbowing him and not even touching Khan.
I actually saw Cortez coming into the arena from the Mandalay parking garage and day and I yelled at him from about 30 yards away "Let Maidana fight tonight Joe!"
I still wonder if he felt an extra little f*ck you for me that night.
What a loser.. jesus christ.
Too much butthurt from some people. Khan fought well against Maidana, and was in great condition. The ref didn't ruin the fight, although Khan was lucky to survive round...10, I think it was.
khan shifted his guts in the first round, not many fighters can even come back from that. i have no idea why glass jaw never went back to the body. he pitty-pat'd and circled away the rest of the fight.
Agreed, it was sheer stupidity that he didn't go back to the body.
Also he needs Ariza back in his team ASAP.
It's not easy winning a handicapped match.
Had Maidana knocked out Khan, Joe would have hit him with a steel chair and laid Khan's lifeless corpse on top of him and counted, declaring Khan the winner.
Think you've seen one too many WWF matches... or whatever they are called nowadays.
That was a devastating liver shot...you could see it in his face. It pretty rare that a guy can get up and fight after a shot like that and it cost him a few rounds for sure. I'd say Maidana wins easy in a rematch today.

khan took a lot out of maidana with that body kd in the first round....
It was mainly this. After that shot, it took Maidana about another four or five rounds to get into the fight. He was really messed up by that shot. By the time he got back into it, it was half way through the fight and he hadn't done enough damage and was still arm punching a bit because of the body shot.
The ref, cunt Cortez, also stopped the fight in Khans favour way, way too much.
Mostly the body shot though.

He has a very weak chin but nowhere near as bad as people like to make out...
He doesnt get knocked out cold, presscott, garcia both times got back up..
Its his recuperation thats the problem and his weak legs and scrambled brain..
Anyway they need to have a rematch at 147lbs
Garcia yes, but Prescott put him down and out for the count. He got up a little after ten with the help of others.
But, it's really very rare for guys to get put to sleep properly. It rarely happens. Even in the greatest KOs, think Duran/Hearns, Jones/Tarver etc, they were never knocked out. Duran was struggling to get back up right as he hit the canvas.
Even Norris, who's chin is very similar to khans, didn't ever get put to sleep. In his fight with Jackson he was put down and out for the count, but he wasn't knocked unconscious.

Post the whole fight instead of selective parts and you'll see Maidana getting dominated.
I never claimed Diaz or Molina were great wins. I suppose Lopez and BumAss are good wins for Maidana since he tends to lose when he steps up in class.
Current Khan struggles against either Karass or Lopez. Iron chinned fighters both, and Karass is overwhelming and Lopez has some pop in addition to that.
In Maidana's last significant fight, he got his ass beat by Devon "It Burnssss" Alexander.
Just because he looked good against Soto-BumAss and got a lucky stoppage against a gatekeeper in Lopez doesn't mean he's suddenly a different fighter.
Unmitigated hate.
Lopez and Karass were good wins. Much better than Khan's Diaz and Molina, was it? Yeah...lol U ain't got a pot to piss in. I hope Maidana rematches Khan so he can prove my point and gain revenge also.

So this is whats considered an "ass beating" these days in boxing?
When you say he's looked better "recently", you mean when he's been up against lesser fighters who suit his style? :lol1:
Lopez is a tough out. He broke Ortiz's jaw in a war. Ortiz who was apparently good enough for Floyd and Canelo. And Karass was too good for that fighter that gave Ghost so much trouble. And Karass apparently is good enough for Berto now.
If anyone has weak ass competition lately its "crazy legs" Khan.
And since when was his training an excuse? To be honest, Maidana's arsehole was still falling out whenever Lopez hit him to the body. He looked exactly the same, he just got a very favourable stoppage. Lopez was tagging his ass all night.
No he was on his way to severely hurting Lopez. Lopez had to be saved from himself. Whether stopped there or a few seconds later wouldn't have made a difference, the ref just saved Lopez some punishment.
As for training, you confuse that with conditioning I guess. The two primary factors were training and conditioning. Maidana a has a nice jab but he didn't use it well against Khan. He looped his punches, was slower, and smothered his own hooks and uppercuts when Khan was covered up. As opposed to recently he gets great leverage on his punches because he is more aware of keeping the proper distance, which is gauged by either the jab or the straight right to set up the overhand. Maidan a sets up better now, defends better, and has better power and speed. It's really night and day the only thing identical is his unconquerable will and warrior's heart.
Anyone that doesn't see the difference can't analyze the fights, or fighters, well at all. Best listen to what the announcers and compubox tell you, at least they are somewhat on the money at times. Then again, other times...
