I am very impressed of the new Maidana, Garcia did a great job with him. His punches look sharper, uses the jab, head movement, defense, he's new and improved. Before the Lopez stoppage, he pulled away from a right and countered with a big uppercut, I never imagined Maidana doing anything like that. To be fair, he hasn't showcased his new skills against a top technician but I like what I'm seeing.
Maidana is digging into his toolbox more than before, but he's not a brand-new fighter. Chino looks somewhat out of shape @147, so he needs to work on his conditioning imho.
I thought he showed good upper body movement, he certainly wasn't a stationary target for Josesito. Jab worked well at times too.
Really though, I think Maidana is a 140lb fighter. He needs to select his opponents carefully at 147 because a big puncher will stop him.
Besides him growing he jab a little more there are no improvements. People act like Maidana is a different fight now that h trains with Garcia but he's the same fights he will always be.
Improvements? Where? Lol... Maidana goes to Garcia and he's a brand new fighter. Alexander goes to 147 and he's supposed to be this new monster. There's no improvements. They're still the same crappy fighters.

He is crude, slow, unrefined with not much technique, yet he is still posses a legit thread to anyone, and last night he koéd a guy faster then a PFP 154`er in canelo.
he is what he is, and I love fighters like him, all hart and strength.
tech guys like Floyd and Ward win boxing matches, but in a streetbrawl its the maidana`s of the world that would kick you ass, and in my book that counts as something.
Boxing is not a game of boxrec
Boxing IS NOT a street fight. The guy SUCKS.

He looks extremely vulnerable in my eyes. If you can keep him on the back foot he's very easy to hurt.
Unfortunately Lopez isn't strong enough to keep a fighter like Maidana subdued for too long. Garcia would probably stop Maidana in the mid-rounds.
Maidana looked better in his last fight than this 1, I thought Lopez looked like he would stop him after seeing rounds 3 and 4 but in 5 and 6 he must've been tired be cause he stopped swinging, but anytime maidana fights a banger like Lopez all
the technical boxing skills he's learning is goin out the window
What I saw was a basic, crude guy. Nothing special. I think the ref stopped it too early. And, round three should have been 10-8, in favor of Lopez. There should be a rematch.
