Neither ran. The problem is, as most would agree, counter-punching is not the most appealing style.
Actually it is. What Floyd did to JMM was AMAZINGLY entertaining. The crowd went "Ooohh and Ahhh" But Running, IS boring. Running, and slick defensive counterpunching is completely different.
Nah, Rigo ran so much it was ridiculuos. Donaire basically ran into his punches because he got frustrated at Rigo not fighting. Great strategy by Rigo! Yeah right, if Donaire wanted he could've fought like Rigo and won the fight easily but then there would've been maybe 3 shots thrown per round and maybe 1 landed. Face it Rigotards, Rigo came to run not to fight Donaire.
Nonito didnt train to fight, he trained to make weight then relying on his hook which was studied well by a seasoned Gold Olympian.. Now Nonito has to work is way back up. He let his success get the best of him.. He got out boxed against a boxer.
So the first 4 or 5 rounds that Rigondeaux stood his ground don't count according to you?
I dont consider that standing in the pocket. In the pocket to me, is both guys fighting on the inside, coming forward, refusing to take a step back. Like brawling. But Rigo was too small to play that game. So when Nonito pressed, he had to run.
Rigo is much quicker on his feet than this Floyd. Their movement is a bit different. Mayweather is still more offensive minded than Rigo. Rigo has the power to hurt guys his own size but he plays it a bit safer. I agree the fight were similar where if you say one guy ran, you could say it about the other.
In a way they both did a good amount of "running"
Now if you wanna see that as a true boxing skill or they were avoiding a fight where they could get hurt its up to you.
Typically people who like technical fights see it as a skill, and people who like a fight/brawl see it as running.... you cant please em all, like pacquiao use to lol jk
Rigo never ran, but nonito ran for hos life in the 12th. Never thought i'd see donaire react like tht in a fight but biased fans of the flash will say rigo ran. I scored round 12 10-8 for rigo it was that one sided of a round.
At the same size, Rigo beats Floyd easy on points. He's faster, quicker on his feet and could outpoint Floyd and frustrate him at his own game, there I said it.... and yes they are both runners.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Rigo doesnt know how to fight in the damn pocket, stop making up stories. He didnt even throw any punches. Floyd was letting his hands go the whole fight. He's a counterpuncher, thats what he does. Rigo is ight tho.

Im so sick of hearing rigo ran.
The dude totally outboxed and shut down doniare, who i considered to be a top 5 p4p going into the fight.
DONIARE WAS JAMES TONEY, RIGO WAS ROY JONES.
It's just a form of hate. When their favorite fighters get outclassed and beat on with slick movement, counterpunching and boxing ability they call it "running" to try to take away from the DOMINATING victory. This is an infortunate truth. Pac+ard$ try to make these excuses alot when Manny or whoever else they are rooting for lose.

And how many fighters at 122 sell out stadiums and headline PPVs?
Can't answer that question since I'm not aware about the PPV pricing in America i.e. I'd only really have to pay PPV price when it comes to guys like Mayweather/Pacquiao world recognised or local British fighters like Froch, Haye or maybe even Khan, to build yourself to that level you need to have some sort of drawing attraction.
I just don't see Rigondeaux being a big draw when you're wanting to attract casual fight/boxing fans into the stadium.
Obviously guys like Juanma, Salido and Mikey they're always going to have big following because they have the entire of Puerto Rico and Mexico behind certain fighters that whole rivalry aswell.
Whilst Rigo is doing very well I just don't see many people being overly excited for him you'll disagree but it's my opinion and that's cool.
Very very few found that to be a "exciting" fight, you won't sell out a stadium or justify a reason to have yourself as a PPV fighter fighting like that.
End of the day its by far more difficult standing your ground and not getting hit than it is to back pedalling, as you said its matter of opinion which I agree on but you can't compare Mayweather to Rigondeaux because Mayweather can mix it up and do the lot unlike Rigondeaux who looks suspect when trying to fight in the pocket.

That's just crap talk no offense and totally a matter of opinion though you basically indicate that in your post. Rigo was countering all night. I have no idea what you were watching. Rigo's performance was MUCH more impressive and exciting to me. Donaire was far more dangerous than Guerrero will ever be. Completely different stakes involved... I'll speak for myself as well.
Even Mares called it a "masterpiece" and "exciting." That says it all.
