i believe that makes an even fight between weight divisions, ppl bash pac man for fighting bigger guys @ catchweights but its still a fight 2-3 lbs is not gonna make a difference even mayweather said when going up to 154 the weight didnt make a difference skills pay bills but with a 160lb martinez a fight could be made @ a catch weight. I think the catchweight just makes a even fight and the winner shouldnt b discredited
Theres nothing wrong with them cos we live in a day and age where fighters use different weight class to avoid other fighters so if a fight gets made when otherwise it wouldnt be made its all good.
So long as both fighters it wont effect how they are able to perform so cant make excuses afterwards. If you dont want to fight CW then please dont sign the dotted line.
clear as day......
the problem with cw fights are not with the fighters....
it is with the fans who do not want to accept what their fighter had accepted..
Dumb ass , going up dont hurt going down does , fans like you got no idea about weight .
This has to be the dumbest quote of the day...and there has been some pretty dumb crap posted today.
I don't have too many problems with catchweights. If it's a non-title fight. Why not? But when challengers are dictating to champs what they must weigh to defend THEIR title, then it's BS. You want that title, fight in the division and you do it on the champs terms. If the weight is a problem, don't fight at it. The simple questions to ask is HOW exactly does it "make things even" and WHY do it if it doesn't make any difference to how a fighter may perform? If you can answer those questions honestly, you'll understand why some don't give those types of victories full credit.
In Pacquiao's case, you have to ask, why was 147lbs an ok limit to fight De La Hoya, but not to fight Cotto or Mosley at the time? Was it about how fighting at the weight would affect Pacquiao himself, or was it different rules for different opponents?
ok for those who believe that a catchweight just drains the bigger fighter, what about when the bigger fighter walks inside the ring on fight night his normal fighting weight then what, i could remember commentators saying that chad dawson weighed his normal 183 on fight night and when margarito/paquaio faught pac was out weighed by 17 lbs on fight night i dont c how this gives pac an advantage
He'd still had to put much more energy into making weight.
His energy is going to have taken a toll for sure.
It's not all about fluids.

Nothing if it's not for a title.
Something like Martinez and Floyd fighting at 156 i would be fine with.
I would not be fine with Floyd Canelo fighting at 150.
It's about where fighters can fight comfortably at.
Reloaded has Pacquaio paintings all around his house so he can't stop thinking about him. He is mad because despite of putting every curses in the book Pacquaio is still alive. You have to slice your neck bro and take one gallon of blood to make that voodoo curses work. Just a friendly advise.
So Clottey/Hatton/ODLH/Mosley don't count, according to you?
Clottey was paid to lose , he has been in the Bahamas sipping champagne ever since , look at the faces after the fight , Clottey is only guy to land solid and then clam up , its like pulling up a racehorse .
Hatton was shot from Floyd on , he looked crap in his comeback fight against a stiff they dug up to lose , Pauli is Lovemore Ndous level , it was a give me fight for Hatton , new trainer on top , not Mannys fault but no big deal at that point in Hattons swan song .
ODh was struggling with Forbes at 150 , 147 was always going to be a huge struggle , needing IV fluids to gain 2 lbs from weighin weight is DEAD MAN WALKING , Forbes would have kicked Oscars butt that night he was as flat as a sh1t carters hat .
Mosley was ducked blatantly by Manny after he stopped Mayorga , Shane was begging for a fight and went as low as a ridicules 142 , Shane said you fought Cotto at 145 , Roach said your not Cotto your too good Shane , to cut to the chase , Floyd beats Mosley , Mosley then looks like crap in a draw with the Snake and Manny says ok we fight , and a shot Mosley made him look lost at sea with a little experience and movement , Roach was right Shane cant pull the trigger .
You want a run down on the others because they all got a story .
WTF??? Fighting as much as Pac does was going to catch up to him at some point.
Why the word expose? Yep, you're a hater.
He beats a young, in his prime, Timothy Bradley, but that's not good enough for you.
He has to lose before you're satisfied with his career? My man. Stop acting like a journalist trying to uncover the mystery of Pac's career.
He's a legend that got caught slippin by JMM. Calm yo nerves child.
He got beat by Bradley , and if you look it was very very close fight , why dont he rematch Bradley like a real WC would after losing his title in a controversial decision , I will tell you why , Bradley kicks his ass !
No fighter has manipulated so many fights as Manny has , but he cant do it now everybody is on to him , he has one last money fight JMM , Floyd murders him Bradley kicks he ass , and so will JMM again , Manny is done .
So what fights do you give him credit for?
Everything before Diaz and his last 2 JMM fights and the Bradley fight , the others were BS , he is a WW hype job .
What u seem to forget is that Pac is the the smallest ww in the division. Catchweights are there to even the playing field. Why should Pac give up 15lbs on fight night without asking his opponent tto give up something In return to help level out the playing field? Is it only fair if Pac is at a disadvantage?
Why fight a guy if you must drain him first , you dont beat the real fighter like that its an imitation , , Pac wants his cake and eat it too , if he wants to fight bigger guys move up to them , you guys swallowed the hype hook line and sinker , the evidence to the drainings is over whelming based on FACT .
Because the main element you conveniently jump over is the bigger opponent is drained training to make weight , Pac refuses to fight them without a lowering CW , even after beating Cotto he refuses to fight him at his healthy weight , do you guys need a hit on the head with a hammer , open your eyes its right in your face !
JMM KOed him , Bradley said he dont hit hard , yet this your ODH Cotto Margo killer , DRAINING CATCH WEIGHTS is your killer .

How was Manny always going to get caught sooner or later??? My man, you're coming off as a guy that wishes upon his down fall. Just stop already. You just sound dumber and dumber by the post.
The moment he stopped with the CWs he stopped fighting WWs and he started to struggle with strong healthy opponents , sooner or later means somebody was going to expose the fact he wasnt the superman the hype portrayed him to be , the writing was on the wall for quite a while .
When it comes to Pac, his haters will say that its unfair for him to make his opponent weigh in 1-2lbs under the weight limit, but they never mention how its unfair how Pac is outweighed by 10-15lbs by his opponent on fight night.

Catchweight fights are here since then to make a fight possible between a small and bigger fighter. Example; 140 fighter A (Pacquaio) and 147 fighter B (Cotto) agreed to meet at 145. Fair enough but pressuring a 140 fighter A (Hatton, Marquez, Guerrero ) to move up to 147 to fight 147 fighter B (Floyd) who has the advantage and disadvantage? Surely the answer is obvious but some floms thought their hero is the lesser evil.
Like I said its just numbers , throw out everything else .
