Chavez Senior was a late cnvert to the idea of Junior fighting martinez just then. Both he and Arum-the Roach too- didn't want it because in reality, Junior was still learning and was noticeably improving with every fight. The guy had absolutely NO amateur experience, never had a fight before his first professional contest. So he was in a learning process.
Junior himself thought he could beat Martinez and the pressure itrritated him into overruling his elders (and wisers). His lack of real experience againt a mover, showed up, as they had kown it would. And Junior's camp behaviour ruined everything before they ever got near to fight night. The Roach says he completed only 5 full days of training. he naturally couldn' talk about this until much later when he can see that Junior is going elsewhere.
Chavez is the only one STUPID enough to call out GGG. There's a difference.
Chavez also called out Sergio Martinez in 2009, and his handlers were like "LOLNO."
Don't give the guy props because he's a moron. Would you respect Golden Johnson or Yori Boy if he called out GGG as well?
I've only seen GGG fight once, I think a fight with Chavez Jr would be a war of epic proportions. I think Chavez has a great chance to KO GGG. I wasn't as impressed with GGG as some. Neither of these guys have great defence but Chavez works the body like no ones business.
My god its amazing how overrated such a mediocre fighter in Chavez has become. Yes the same Chavez who got a gift over Zbik and went 12 hard rounds against Rubio, despite this so called massive size difference and wouldn't take a piss test after.
Chavez is not a good fighter, size or not. He's not beating any top MW - MARTINEZ, GGG, QUILLIN, NDAM, or PIROG.
Chavez was embarrassed by Sergio for nearly every second of the fight but a clearly tired Martinez gassed out a bit which is the only reason he went down. That I guess makes Chavez an elite fighter that can beat the likes of Golovkin, quillin, etc.? No chance.
Totally agree, Jr just doesn't have the skills to beat world class fighters

Yeah but he and his team have manage to work the law so well in regards to cheating drug tests and manipulating the system, that Chavez is huge now. He's not like he was even 2 years ago, he is a giant now and somehow he can just take whatever he wants to make weight.

All of this here. He wanted to rematch Rubio and called him a f@g when he refused drug testing for the rematch, even though he didn't take one the first time.
JCC will only fight sergio because it sold 450,000 PPVs. He wont fight anyone else tho c'mon brotha Chavez didn't have to fight Martinez he coulda kept fighting so so fighters to keep he's record in tact. At least give him credit for wanting to be great and fighting the best. Thats called having balls. Might not be the most skilled but dude is not scared to fight the best. I would put money on Chavez fighting ggg b4 Sergio would
Jr. probably wins this one.
Too tall, too much length, tough chin, won't have to deal with a boxer dancer like Martinez.
GGG is a strong puncher, but so far that's all he's proven.
Jr. almost stopped Martinez in the 12th. Wouldn't be surprised if he did stop the smaller and slower GGG.
Jr hasn't stopped anybody top 20, except Andy Lee. Didn't come close to stopping Rubio or Zbik, who next got stopped by Sturm's jab.
No, I personally think Chavez jr breaks Golovkin down and stops him. But, like the legend says, Golovkin is the son of Thor, destroyer of men, GOD OF WAR!!!!
That prediction crossed my mind, golovkin may appear to hit harder because hes more fluent hence his huge amateur background .

Sergio is at that point where he can pick and choose who he fights, and GGG is talented! He's not a cherrypick! He's a guy who has to earn a fight with the top dog! Unlike Macklin and Martin, who ARE cherries! Not only that, But Martinez even said he would consider fighting him after he takes care of his next two fights this year!
Jr. probably wins this one.

I agree. Chavez' size is a near insurmountable factor and unless you completely shut him down with offense or have excellent defense and mobility, you are not going to outslug him. I'd imagine Golovkin fairs pretty well in the beginning but unlike most of his fights, he will be the one breaking to pieces as the fight progresses.
Martinez takes punches very well and his face doesn't swell or bruise easily but Golovkin's face was pretty well marked up against Rosado, a career LMW.
Golovkin is not afraid to trade and won't back down easily which is not the way to fight Chavez if you are not a "slicker" type of fighter.
Did he, Chavez Jr., vacate the title?
Something GGG's opponents have done.
No, he got the crap beat out of himself by the rightful owner of that title (Martinez)
