I just rewatched Ward/Dawson again and Andre Ward did damn near nothing wrong completely controlled every part of the fight. I know people are going to bring up Dawson being weight drained but that had nothing to do with Ward and his performance I give Andre Ward a 9.5 for his performance and do not see any fighter around his weight class beating him when he shows up with his A game like that.
the people pushing the story are miranda's handlers and some guy who claims dawson shorted his fighter on sparring money (three or four grand, i think.) they're not neutral. no neutral sources have come out and said it.
if he were knocked out cold he wouldn't be ready for a fight a week later. i've never been out cold, but i've seen it plenty. you go to a hospital and go under observation. there would be medical records for all of this. he wouldn't be cleared to fight.
the signs point to all of that just being a rumor.
additionally, dawson was a top 10 p4p fighter at the time, and the LHW champion of the world. losing a few paychecks from sparring sessions would amount to a whole lot less than the fights he'd be able to get into if he were to actually knock dawson cold in sparring. he probably gets a few grand to spar. if he gets back on HBO or showtime he's looking at a six figure payday.
Dawson is a known liar, and Scully isn't being honest either.

Why hasn't Dawson's camp been out cathegorically denying the incident? Surely if it didn't happen they would be vigilant in saying so and exposing the sources as liars.
I agree that dawson shouldn't have been allowed to fight and I questioned that myself when the rumours first surfaced, but I am quite sure it was swept under the rug as some kind of 'regular' sparring incident as nobody wanted to miss out on the career high pay check.
I'll say 9, I've seen 10s before, Toney-Barkley, Jones-Toney, Mayweather-Gatti/ Corrales, Hopkins-Tito, while that was a damn good performance I feel it's safer to leave it at 9. I guess it's all based on ones criteria really.
Calzaghe-Lacy being an 11
The KO has been confirmed by people witnessing the incident.
As for Miranda not crashing the presser, well he had a fight in Britain himself.
Another thing is that I am sure Miranda would never again work as a sparring partner for anyone if he revealed secrets from camp. That is a no-go.

Confirmed?, proof ???
trust me when i say this, there is no way in hell dawson's trainer or manager would send him into the fight if he were knocked out by edison miranda in sparring
it's very easy to come up with a fake injury to push off a fight, or cancel it altogether.
and can you just imagine how loud miranda would have been if he were to stop dawson in sparring?
he'd crash the last ward - dawson presser, the way he did when taylor was fighting spinks,

He looked good if not great. Question is how much stock to put into beating a weighdrained opponent who was KO'ed in sparring the previous week though.

A lot of people gave that performance a "10".
If you give that a "10", what do you give Mayweather's performance vs Corrales?
I use that as an example because those fights played out similarly.
i'd give him a nine or a nine point five.
he looked like he just might be the planet's best boxer. he showed the same sort of craft against froch, who has since gone on to prove his metal in destroying bute.
i dont wand to take anything away from floyd mayweather jr (the only other man who can be considered p4p right now.) ward has fought better opposition. and more importantly, floyd is slowing down. miguel cotto got him into some situations and hit him with punches he would have been able to avoid in his prime.
IMO this is all the more reason to keep May at the top p4p spot..May fought and held his position for yrs..Ward is just starting out,Ward will have a lot of time to hold on to the top spot..But right now May deserves it imho...
