he's so mentally fragile. His career-decisions are questionable, from switching trainers often, to accepting fights that makes no sense (such as the Ward fight). From what I saw from Hopkins-Dawson II, I knew he was not going to beat Ward (which is why Ward was a 4-1 favorite). Dawson should have beaten Hopkins much more convincingly. Hopkins was 47 he fights in spots, and he doesn't even have a jab, and Dawson wouldn't let his hands go. I think only Steward or Floyd Sr can take Dawson to the next level because he needs a trainer that can discipline him Dawson needs a trainer that will get rid of his bad habits.
Steward would have made Dawson a better boxer once he understands his strengths and weaknesses, and it was strange how Dawson just fired him as a trainer in the middle of a big fight, that's another sign of mental weakness. He also ducked Adrian Diaconu for three years, a B level LHW, and finally fought him in 2011.
He called out Ward after beating Hopkins which I found strange, he easily accepted Ward's demands for only 600k. It turns out from Scully that he was weight drained, and he was getting beat up by his sparring partners. I don't know what to expect from Dawson from here on out. He set himself up for a loss against Ward.
I'm not buying the weight drained excuse bro,the same Dawson I seen beat Hopkins is the same guy I seen in the ring last weekend..It's all part of Dawson new attitude..He was going to try to be a more exciting fighter, more of a slugger then a guy who really used movement...Forget about establishing a jab,Ward was going to move all night and had the stamina to do so..Dawson has never shown his conditioning to be on an elite level..Once Ward took Dawson's Jab away he was pretty much finish tbh..Ward's game plan was more effective then Dawson's that's pretty much the bottom line...
And Dawson fought terrible against Hopkins After the fight he called out Ward, Chad was simply asking for a loss. I'll agree with you that Ward had a better game plan, but Scully's strategy was pathetic.
Scully admitted in the second round that his strategy was to establish the jab and make Ward scared to fight on the inside. That means no foot movement from Dawson nor use Dawson's height and reach to keep distance away from Ward. I'm telling you Scully is not a good trainer. On top of that Dawson was weight drained and had poor preparation.
And yes Dawson's skills have regressed because he constantly switches trainers. Do you think Ward would be effective right now if he fired Virgil Hill two years ago and hired Freddie Roach? I doubt it. Muhammad Ali had Angelo Dundee as his trainer for most of his career. Bernard Hopkins has had the same team for most of his career.
Dawson has had a total of eight different trainers, four in the last five. It's not just about length and being familiar. It's about having the right team and the right trainer. Dawson stayed with Eddie Muhammad for two years it didn't work out. Floyd Sr and Steward were right for Chad, but Dawson fired them for petty reasons. But I'll say this, it's not the trainers fault for Dawson's bad career decisions, because it was Chad's choice to drop Steward and hire Scully. It was Dawson's choice to call out Andre Ward when he didn't need to. So at the end of the day it's all on Dawson.

Explain this then. One of Dawson's sparring partners Lionell Thompson was kicking Dawson's ass in sparring and admitting that Dawson had a bad camp and was always in a bad mood because he couldn't eat.
Well does'int that speak in volume to Dawson weak mentality??He knew it would be no picnic to make 168lb,he is suppose to be discipline...
That's because Dawson wasn't using distance, he wasn't boxing on the outside. There was no lateral movement from Dawson, his feet was literally glued to the canvas, and he was walking right into Ward's punches. Dawson had a 5" reach advantage and he did not use height and reach well against Ward. It was poor preparation and the trainer deserves of the blame. Even Scully admitted in the 2nd round that his gameplan was to establish the jab and make Ward fearful to fight on the inside.
Regarding the straight left that Dawson threw against Ward, you call that a straight left? Almost all the punches that Dawson threw were wide, telegraphed, or looping punches. This was the case of Dawson being weight drained, and his skills regressing under Scully.

Scully Just proved that the Miranda KO rumor was BS.
I for one would take scully`s words with a ton of salt, his fighter just got his ass kicked, and he has a very futile motivation to try and find excuses.
He would be the first trainer I have ever heard of that would admit that his fighter got beat when there is such a easy excuse right there.
I used to fight a LH, I am 6.2 and big boned, 3 kilos issent such a big deal that you are a comepletly different fighter, especially when the have more then 24 hours and all the modern super-foods to chose from.
Dawson is the only one that knows what went down but i have a felling that even if Dawson flat out says that the weight loose had zero% effect on his performance, there will still be people saying he was completely drained and ward was fighting a corpse

Hopkins like Ward will take ya best weapons away..But Hopkins is also older now so it was harder for him to deal with Dawson's youth and speed...Dawson is a very good fighter, but he is also very predictable, which is why he got beat by Pascal and Ward..Two fighters that very unpredictable(not saying that Ward in Pascal or even in the same class)I like Dawson and give him much credit for going to fight Ward like he did..But Ward took that jab away and was never in position to get hit by a Dawson straight left..It was a boxing masterclass by Ward tbh...

That is because hopkins and Ward did everything the could in order to control distance.
That is have you beat a long reach fighter that fights best at distance.
I agree with this, the distance was the reason Dawson could not get off..Not his legs,Ward was out of reach at all times..Either to far away or to close in the guard...
Dawson skills have regressed because he is constantly switching trainers. Watch his fight against Diaconu, and then watch his fight against Hopkins. Against Diaconu, Dawson didn't fight a perfect fight, but he was using his left hand a lot, he was using foot movement, he was measuring Diaconu.
Dawson under Scully can no longer throw the left-cross properly anymore. Hopkins was walking towards Dawson's left, and Dawson couldn't get off with his left hand.

The only one that knows if Dawson feelt drained is Dawson period.
In no way or form did he look drained or weak in that fight, unless ofcause you want discredit Ward.
God i wish Ward would have fought and beat him up at LH

Scully made Dawson fight in this weird shoulder-roll stance, so that everytime he shoots the straight left he gets out of position. I bet that's why Dawson was so hesitant to throw the straight left against Hopkins. That never happened under Steward, Dawson threw the straight left the correct way.
Against Ward, he wasn't boxing on the outside, he wasn't using distance. He stupidly tried to fight Ward's fight. You think Stewart or Floyd Sr would prepare Dawson to fight like that? Hell no.
He was weight drained, Scully admitted it. There are reports of Dawson being beat up by his sparring partners, as a matter fact the odds went from 3-1 to 4-1 when Vegas got wind of the rumors, which were in fact true. His skills have regressed from constantly switching trainers. Dawson was asking for a loss.

BTW, am I also the only one who is going to wait and see how Chad comes back at 175?
He just fought the absolute best at a weight class below him, he was possibly weight drained and the guy that just beat him could probably kick any one's ass from 168-175, and any one who wants to come up from 160. Ward would be a handful for Chad even at the full 175 limit, let alone if Chad was weight drained. Which, 180 punches thrown in 10 rounds, shows he had little to no energy, and his wobbly legs after every punch showed that eve more. This Ward we're talking about here, great boxer, but great puncher? Chad took bigger shots from bigger, more powerful fighters like Adamek and Pascal. What about the power punches Chad took from Glen Johnson in 2008, without even going down? Then you're gonna tell, Ward stopped this guy based off of his power, and Chad having a weak chin? Something else was going on and I think it had to a LOT with the weight.
I agree with EVERY word!!!! :fing02:
Come on Chad did everything he could in that fight, he tried everything, and fought his hart out, but ward keept tweaking his style and hurt dawson, Ward was just too much.
It have nothing to do with Chad being a `bad` fighter, he just meet somone better then him
Infact why is that everytime someone the other fighter automatically becomes a bad fighter, that is just plain stupid

I saw that in the Pascal fight. In this fight it was a case of Ward being able to one up him in every aspect. Dawson tried to land his jab, he tried to land the right hook. Dawson when he can fire off combinations with both hands or when he can jab consistently is when he's at his best. Ward took all of that away period.
I think this is the truth plain and simple...
It's hard to believe that he has any fans at all seeing as how he blatantly quit against ward.
He had enough. He was getting weaker and weaker as the fight went on. **** you want him to do, die?
I always have been a fan of Chad's but no trainer is gonna change him, if they would have it would have happened already...
Chad has one gear...his style reflects his personality, basically he's boring but has a lotta talent...
He seems to me like someone who isn't really a "fighter" but knows how to box very well...like when he throws punches they look forced like he doesn't follow through on them or never puts his all into them, it doesn't look fluid...maybe I'm nitpicking...but you take away Dawson's jab and he's completely lost, thatz why he struggled with Pascal and Ward, and even Bernard frustrated him at times
Chad doesn't have a fighter's mentality and I think thatz what will keep him from ever being a great fighter....maybe HOF worthy but never considered a GREAT
Dawson needs a trainer to discipline him. But you are right though, you can't blame the trainers because it was Dawson who fired Floyd Sr and Steward.
When Dawson fought Adamek, he fought a disciplined fight. He won that fight with the right jab and left cross, something he is not known for. Dawson was using lateral movement and showed Adamek all the southpaw angles (when was the last time you saw Dawson do that?) A lot of that credit goes to Floyd Sr. Dawson before was a one-handed boxer who had a jab and can throw combinations. Floyd Sr brought Dawson to the next level, but he was still a work-in-progress at that time.
Floyd Sr would not take crap from Dawson, he would not allow Dawson to do dumb things in the ring, which is probably why he called Dawson a retard. It was his way or the highway. Steward in some ways is similar, he doesn't take crap from his boxers. And Dawson may not know it, but that's what he needs
