Seriously do Floyd and Manny both need each other for ATG status ?

I mean it doesn't seem like either one of them have that Leonard,Hearns type of carrer defining victory. I think Manny has fought more undefeated fighters but Floyd has wins over higher profile undefeated fighters such as Corrales and Hatton. I don't think Barrera and Morales do it for Manny. I don't think Cotto after Margarioto does it. Hatton after Floyd doesn't do it. De la hoya at 140 whatever doesn't do it. 3 controversies with Marquez don't do it. The Shane,Clotty and Margarito fights are irrelavant. I don't think Genero does it for Floyd. Corrales is a toss up. Manfreddy nope. Castillo doesn't do it. Gatti doesn't do it. Judah after Baldomir,nope. Baldomir nope. De la hoya doesn't do it. Hatton is iffy depending on how you feel about the weight. Marquez don't do it. Shane doesn't do it . the Ortiz controversy doesn't do it. Cotto after manny and margarito wont do it either. over all it seems floyd is a little closer than manny and both have really good fighters on their resume's, but i could be wrong. im not an expert so if you think i got i wrong school me but do it objectively. please no extreme nuthugging.

its unfortunate the fight could not happen at all... i think it wont make that much of a dent to their claim for greatness though...

One hugh win doesn't make you an all time great. If it did then Taylor's wins over Hopkins should make him an all time great.It is the quality of your whole career, who you beat and how you beat them. Alot of good wins over good fighters is better than one big win.Loses count against you but alot depends on how and when you lost and how good was the fighter who beat you. Loses when you are past prime don't really count against you or SRR would not be rated so high. He lost 19 times. Pac and Floyd are both all time greats right now if they retired today. Both are past prime. Floyd rates higher because he never lost a fight in all these years of fighting the best. If either one beats the other one it would make them greater but they are still all time greats if they never fight in my opinion.

No they are both ATG's in my book regardless what happens now. Pac is right up there already, but i think in beating Floyd there will be less excuses for the people who try and deny Pac with silly excuses. Floyd beating Pac, he needs to basically but that wouldnt be enough. Floyd would have to try and fight a dangerous guy who is supposed to beat him in a higher weight class, and if he loses, Floyd wasnt supposed to win anyway so it wont harm Floyds legacy. Unless Floyd wont dare to as the zero means so much to him. But that way Floyd just isnt reaching his full potential and he may be able to beat Ward for all we know, and if Floyd wont try as hes scared to lose. Floyd was underdog when he was coming up and people werent sure what he could do. To be the underdog and overcome the odds when people know what Floyds capable of now would be his crowing glory. Lets see!

History will focus on the accomplishments of both Fighters: In the Past, Present, and Future there gonna be UNDEFEATED Champs they're more than one! And Floyd Mayweather Jr is one among them. But, then, there's Only One Boxer who registered a World Record confirmed by Guinness Book of World Record, winning 8 World Titles in Different Weight Division, that belongs to Manny Pacquaio. Another Title given to Pacquiao was BWAA "Fighter of the Decade" Award! Both Mayweather & Pacquiao been awarded the "FOTY" When they retires, Mayweather Jr still has that multiple Court Suits filed against him; and been sentenced after Cotto fight, to go to jail; While Pacquiao, currently serving as Congressman, will file his candidacy for Governor. Whom you think looks better? Half of the stuff you just typed isn't even relevant.

It is very seldom or unheard of that the supposed 2 top pfp fighters occupy the same weight class but refuse to fight. In no other era would such a monstrosity be tolerated. IMO their atg cards are pulled until they fight. They've both made a joke of pfp being allowed to lay siege to the top 2 spots fighting guys they're both supposed to beat for years. Milking the sport disrespecting the fans. Yet their fan bases offer up pass after pass taking it dry constantly. However their is also only 1 true substitute for this offense. His name is Martinez. Other than that neither Floyd nor Manny behave like atg fighters. Marquez behaves like he is & he is. Hell Cotto behaves like 1 & he may not even be 1. But those 2, are allowed to get away with the crap they do, that's a damn shame.

There's no legit reason for the fight to not happen, no fear of needles, no take the test, no "I want 10% more", its all bull****. The pair of them stand to make a kings ransom win lose or draw, the only reason not to fight is self preservation, and arrogance, neither are an asset assigned to "greats" truer words have never been spoken :beerchug:

If they want to compare to the names you mentioned, they both definitely need the fight. They will be remembered as two of the best in our era regardless but people will also take their cherrypicking into consideration when comparing them to fighters of other eras.

Pac dont need Floyd but he likes to give the fans what they want. Floyd needs many people including Pac, depending where Floyd wants to be legacy wise. If Floyd has achieved more than he ever thought possible, and i suspect he has, well of course he dont need Pac or Cotto even.

Does Lennox Lewis need Bowe to get to ATG Status? No Pac is the only 8 division world title champ in history Pac has more lineal titles than anyone Pac is the current P4P king and FOTD Pac's ATG status is cemented in stone. Floyds only a ATG at ducking and dodging and is behind Calzaghe and Mosley on the ATG list.

Yes, History does not forget and in this case nor will it forgive if this fight does not happen. if this fight does not happen someone has to shoulder the lion share of the fault who that is? have yet to be written, But ultimately the manner in which both have handled the negotiations seems both will ridiculed for their reluctance to face each other in the square circle.
