I know he hasn't consistently been hit with hard shots but he has taken some big shots before. Given he taken them relatively good physically not going down and such but maybe it has taken it toll on him mentally. Remeber a Young Floyd Mayweather (youtube him if you dont) he spoke rather clearly and made sense. Now today's Floyd Mayweather he pratically a stuttering machine and constantly never making any sense in his interviews.
Disclaimer: this is not a hate floyd thread. I just thought I bring this up cause I thought about this more then once. Dont believe me their are tons of post I defend floyd on, Dont mind the sig if you do something that looks hella gay I call you out on it.
It might not be the clean ones that matter though. It's the thousands of tiny small impacts that a fighter may roll with and the thousand of hours of sparring that a fighter must go through throughout their career. All boxers are brain damaged it is just a matter of the extent.
Kinda sad someone has to explain this to people on a f*cking boxing forum.....
From the 12 clean punches that have been landed on him his whole career? If so he is fragile as hell and in big trouble May 2nd

If you are a true fan of the sport, you would hope to god that someone like Floyd - as silly as the notion is - becomes punch drunk. Think about, what does it say for the sport if arguably the greatest defender in history is punch drunk? What hope do all the rest of the fighters have? It would turn so many people off the sport.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
what about his best friend manny pacquiao?
Manny's IQ is off the charts. Manny rough drafted a cure for cancer between rounds of the Algieri fight.
imo he sounds like he processes information slow. Just listen to the interview at the Pacquiao press conference... he sounds like he's going through puberty again. He is not badly punch drunk like James Toney. But nonetheless, back-to-back Maidana fights is not good for your noggin. And 18 years as a pro, there's gonna be some degree of brain damage, no matter what. But Mayweather is the champ... tougher than ya think.

He's not punch drunk. When he was younger he would ramble on and talk sh*t and not care. Now that he's a star and he's in the eyes of millions, his image matters. He's trying to not say the wrong things. Because when it comes to Floyd, he has to choose every word carefully.
Casual fan I have been a diehard boxing fan for more then 20+ years, 90% of my post are on non mainstream boxing subjects lol. He's been hit more then 4 times and ****ing hard as well.
you are on the right track... gk coming up
He ain't punch drunk.
He been with too many rds with Larry Merchant and Brian Kinney.
Both of them often try to cluster fuck Floyd and frustrates him.
Floyd he so mad he traumatize and fumble on words.
Mofo. You get interviewed ten times by Larry Merchant and you wouldn't
be the same either.
Dont make threads like this, as Floyd is paranoid and it may make him dodge even more. At this stage of his career he needs some decent challenges so dont scare him and worry him unneccesarily please.
Floyds fine and doing well, he is very articualate.
Dont forget how, many times he sparred and amatuer fights hes had
Have you ever heard of head gear. its that thick cushion pad boxers wrap around thier head n sparrng and amerture fights. Sorry but no damage while wearng that son. Try again!
Doubt u ever sparred before so dont tell me s.hit
In casual conversation he speaks fine. Look at him in a natural setting or on 24/7 speaking at lesuire. No speaking issues. If hes being interviewed or put in a different form of public speaking he stumbles a bit. I think its in line with with the average person speaking in public and constantly saying ummm or like. Its uncomfortable so people stumble.
This is pretty much it, On the spot interviews makes him quite nervous so he stumbles.
Unfortunately I agree with OP and edgarg. I think it has little to do with his pro career. It has to do with him starting getting hit in the head real young, and his insane sparring.
I posted in a few times about this after his recent interview I normally don't bother listening to him because it's always a non-stop self-glorification, but because of the comments on him being caught without answers i looked at it. The thing I noticed IMMEDIATELY was how much resemblance there was to the way Evander Holyfield has trouble controlling his lips.
Mayweather also was very rambling, srumbling, and a bit incoherent in his typical self- glorification diatribe. What the cause is I don't know, he's hardly taken major punsihment in his career, but I don't know how much or little is enough. The medical experts say that every single trauma to the head does a tiny damage to the brain. Well, over 17 years, as well as an amateur career plus gym sparring, it might have mounted up. And he may be susceptible. I don't know. But he certainly isn't nearly as clear as the last time I heard him a few years ago. I hope it has a harmless explanation.
So you like watching their lips eh??
When he was younger it was just him trying to make a name for himself...now, he has the whole world dissecting everything he says because he does contradict himself a lot...but that comes with the territory when in his heart he wants the best legacy possible, but at the same time wants the most money possible. It's a very fine line and the two avenues are pulling at him so he speaks as a fighter, promoter, a man, and as "Money"...very hard to keep everything straight with that kind of ego.
Dude you said that very well I AGREE 100%.
Mr. Sweet Science I'm afraid that you missed out many punches. have a look at his fight with Emanuel Augustus and you'll see Mayweather taking a hell of a lot of punches. Also Castillo 1. I don't mind if you're a Floyd loer as you seem to be, that's your choice, but keep to the facts, not making up fictions. And, Jesus Chavez and Hatton gave him plenty as well. I'm not going to waste my time going through other fights, but although he's taken less punishment than average, he has taken some. Whether it has affected him, who knows. I don't like his speech resemblance to Evander Holyfirld's......
DUDE I WAS BEING SARCASTIC! You new fans are sad, really really sad bro! We all know he got hit more than 4 times. It takes a complete idiot to take that serious. Also Im a fan of boxing. I just recognized GOD given talent when I see it. Mayweather has changed the game of boxing with his skills. Many of those punches you believe Mayweather recieved by Costillio, de la hoya and Hatton were indeed blocked punches. Mayweather blocks, catches, perry, slips,Bob and weaves 70% of his opponants punches in every fight. Even higher in some, as high as 89% in a few fights.
