From Floyds Facebook/Twitter "Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise."

Floyd Mayweather thinks Jeremy Lin is overrated, which is funny because Jeremy Lin has managed to be undefeated without ducking anybody.
ouchIf he actually said that, that is great...Floyd got owned by Coach D'Antonio

To be honest Lin is really the only trending sports story the last week or so in the post-football sports lull that America hits until the conference tournaments start...it is entirely possible that they would comment individually (well Manny has a PR team that runs his twitter, so it is just some PR guy pretending to be Manny complimenting the Asian basketballer)...not everything has to be a Floyd/Manny thing...Floyd attends and bets on the NBA all the time and he runs his own social media (rather than having a PR team say things to give pacfanatics warm fuzzies)...two guys who like basketball can't comment on the hottest story in basketball without it being a "Floyd/Manny" thing to some of you.
IMO, Floyd is an attention whore. So, he must be upset that another asian is taking away attention from the media. However, recently from his been all about Manny. Calling out Manny via Twitter, insulting him. Even to announce he fights against Cotto he mention Manny. When in the past three years he has been so vocal about him? He will talk so much sh!t about Pac in 24/7 that he will promote his fight without wanting to.
So the fact that the day before Manny compliment the kid wasnt a factor for Floyd's comment? How dumb can you be. I dont agree with Floyd but it was an obvious contradiction to Pacman statement. He is going to build his promotion around contradicting Pacman and Top Rank. If it aint clear enough, let see the next two month.
Yesterday Twitter: Manny Pacquiao @MannyPacquiao
Jeremy Lin has stepped up just in the Knick of time. He is a great player. @JLin7.
Today Floyd diss the hype lol. He loves to contradict Manny.

Is what floyd said wrong? Is the media making more of this becuase a Jeremy Lin stereotypically wouldn't excel in the NBA?
The way Floyd said is wrong because he's suggesting that every black player does what he does every day and that's simply not true.
Floyd is diminishing what Lin is doing by suggesting the only reason he's getting this attention is because he's Asian.
It's like when players in the 80's said that Larry Bird would just be another black player if he wasn't white. That's bullsh1t because Bird was great regardless of color and Lin is balling right now, NOT like the average black guy but like an elite player in the NBA.
Floyd is an idiot.
Every time ESPN is talking about Lin they show asians in the stands holding up Lin signs...don't tell me it's not about race...even ESPN knows it is like 90% about race...
and smdh at how many of the Pactards also now want to compare Lin to first ballot HOFers because he had a good week in the NBA
First off, Mayweather is ignorant because his mother, father and the rest of his family are ignorant and he is a product of their teachings.
Second, while it is interesting that because Lin is Asian it makes for a better story but that's not the entire case. The fact he's a Harvard graduate and has been a cinderella story is much more important. The fact he was a D league player and undrafted. Not "every black player is doing this" as Floyd said, that's a straight out lie. He outscored Kobe and beat the Lakers, not every player is doing this, that's a major accomplishment.
Bird was white and that was an issue but nobody made an issue about Nowitski being white and beating Lebron and Wade in the finals....
I think we have gotten over that as a society and only the truly ignorant like Mayweather and his worshipers think this way. One of the beautiful things about sports is that it doesn't matter your color of skin, it's what you do in play that matters.
Floyd is just showing his true colors and being an ass. Let someone say something about him being black and he jumps all over it. He is the best boxer on the planet but as a person he isn't worth a sh1t.
Is what floyd said wrong? Is the media making more of this becuase a Jeremy Lin stereotypically wouldn't excel in the NBA?
He's a nba basketball player from harvard...........rare
He's in new york.........largest media market starving for a return to glory
He was cut by 2 teams last year and only joined the knicks a few weeks ago
His best 2 teammates are out injured
He outdueled kobe when everyone said his 3 game streak was against scrubs
His numbers in his first 5 starts are only matched by lebron james
He's asian.........another rarity in the nba
All those reasons lead the media to linsanity. The biggest being he plays in new york. Though complainimg about blacks not getting love in the nba is a joke. If it was all about race, every story would be about kevin love. Look at his numbers. He has better stats than Dwight howard and blake griffin. Does he get anywhere near the love? (pardon the pun) of course not despite being a minority in the nba.

More like the media, half the Asians don't even watch basketball or know who this guy is. This dude just have a amazing story to back him up and being an underdog without even starting and is now starting for the nicks and him being Asian just add more fuel to the fire, it's not something we see everyday. I don't know why people is hating, let the kid get his shine. In a couple of months it will fade away. So many haters in here if the kid was black all these other comments in here would be different.
The media is acting like this is an impossibility. I think its because he is Asain and from Harvard. Doubt that anyone thought there would ever be someone like this making waves in the NBA. Black men from basketball powerhouses are expected to play like this. Asian men from Harvard are expected to be doctors or economists.
Floyds comments says more about American society than anything else.
I agree Ray, No need to say anything here. If Lin has an good few nights and everyone wants to hype him up then I say let the man enjoy his fame.
I beleive all players and athletes have the ability to be great. They are all athletes after all. Makes them the chosen few. They just need to beleive in themselves. Lin's team and fans beleive in him and now he beleive's in himself.
Dont know what to say really, race can play a reason on why people get hyped up due to the market, I mean Tiger woods was good/Great but he was also hyped/overhype due to the fact that he wasnt the typical white golf most people see on the green everyday, Who knows but am all for anyone who comes from nothing/adversity to achieving great stuff.
Lin is doing a great job watched him do his thing against my Wizards. But that most points in first 5 starts stat is complete bullsh!t based on the fact that the other players were rookies and Lin is not a rookie.
Lin keep doing your thing!!!
Congrats Jeremy Lin you got the attention of Mayweather Jr.!
Pacman might as well say: "welcome to the club"
Asians, Europeans, Latinos and even Iranian Basketball players doing good in NBA, earning Dollars...hey, somebody's getting in secured!
I'm Asian, and while I haven't watched NBA for years, I sorta Agree with Floyd here.
The Asians are going bananas over Jeremy Lin hype cos he's Asian, that's it.
Wilt Chamberlain averaged 50 points in a season.
40 in other seasons.
The guy scored 100 points in a single game.
Jordon averaged 30 plus points per season.
Jordan is the GOAT but yet Iverson and Shaq scored more than him in their 5 starts.
Does that make them greater?
I think this comment is getting blown out of proportion.
Lin is a excellent player and a great story, what i think Floyd meant that Lin is getting so much attention this fast by mainstream media.
Sure he shouldn't have brought up race but it is partly why he is getting this attention(and rightly so, cus NBA need more asian fans).
reading owns you.
he said name one player, who came from basically nowhere (actually about to get cut from the team) who was passed over and over frm high school, to college to the nba, that has put up the stats in that manner.
every player u just named had a great collegiate career.
I don't follow basketball so I know next to nothing about Lin or how good of a player he is but to attribute an athletes hype due to his ethnicity is stupid thing to do.
