This Is something I have wondered for a while now.
How long before FLoyd is on the decline?
Floyd don't take much punishment put how will his style hold up when he looses a step?
When he looses some of his trademark speed and reflexes.
Will his career hold up past 40?
How many years left do you think he has before he his officially "shot"?
I'ts very rare for a fighter or indeed any athlete not to slow down a bit when he puts on more muscle and weight. Of course he is slower, but that was to be expected fighting 17 lbs. heavier. Age contibutes except in the case of Roy Jones, who, up to "pre" Ruiz, was still extremely fast at 175.
You are correct edgar g, it is extremely rare for a fighter or indeed any athlete not to slow down a bit when he puts on more muscle and weight. And if a fighter did not slow down a bit after he puts on more muscle and weight he would be subject to heavy criticism, such as that fighter or athlete might potentially be doing something illegal. All doubts would be put to rest of course if this fighter or athlete would take a drug test though. OWELLCHEERZ :beerchug:
watch his stuff at 130 and see how much he already has declined..
i'll go as far as saying almost dramatically..

Except for Roy Jones, who up to before the Ruiz fight, was still exceptionally fast at 175. Especially when he wanted to be.
RJJ first got "RJJ'd" at 35. I think Floyd could be one of the ten best fighters in the world for another 5 years, but I see no point in not leaving while he's on top.
Forget fighting until he's 40, he needs to retire on top. I think Bradley will beat Pacquiao if that fight happens, so all that will be left for Floyd is Martinez and probably Bradley. Of course if Manny wins that fight, May-Pac is the most important of them all. Then hang them up. No Khan, Canelo, or whoever else is around.
he is already 35 and has been a pro for 16 years and a champion for 14 isnt that longevity??
I was thinking the same thing! Whats wrong with these guys on BS. IT'S LIKE THEY DONT THINK AT ALL!
He could probably be at the top a few more years and even after forty he should still be able to fight if he chooses to adapt. He has great defence and a solid chin so he could fight on and manage well even without his speed, reflexes and legs. His problem is a low workrate, in a few years time floyd might be outpointed by an high workrate pressure fighter.
I'm just pointing out that most elite athletes in their mid 30's tends to decline in terms of physical attributes such as, speed, athletic explosiveness, ect.
i know what you saying

Dude who is that in your sig?

Mayweather had a 5 name kill list when he came out of retirement: Cotto, Marquez, Mosley, pacquiao, and Marquez.
We'll be lucky to see him fight 2 more times after this fight imo.
u mean ortiz
Floyd is already on the decline. He has declined physically. His greatest assets are his timing, defense, techniques, and ring IQ, but as far as speed and reflexes goes, he isn't the same.
so floyd is kobe?
i voted for the next b hop, because it's just a funny concept and i wanted to click on it
but i doubt he will make it that far or want to. bernard is 47 years old.
that's insane.
if he doesnt fight more often than once or twice a year and he doesnt fight bigger and stronger guys i dont see anybody who will be beating him up any tie soon
