How can FLoyd or even Arum guarantee something that is not even discussed yet? Isn't that what the negotiation is for?

Don't know why this thread is titled "New Stuff from Bob Arum" when it's just another bunch of excuses as to why his fighter won't step to the plate. It's been nothing but this for 2 years from Manny and Bob.

So no real reason at all then ? Is the MGM booked out for late May ? Surely they will change a booking for a Pac-Floyd fight. Is the Judge going to put Floyd on jail if he fights later in May ? FLoyd has a chance to called Arums bluff, if he wants the fight he'll do it. i can see so many folks getting taken for another ride... jumping in the ride,,, i can smell the judge made it a precondition for the postponement of floyd's sentence that floyd must fight pac.... the bad side is that bob smelled it too and is making a lot of noise to squeeze in more $$ for tr and also get to floyd's skin....

Finally Pac and Arum on the same page!!! Bob Arum tells SI from Philippines that if @FloydMayweather accepts a 50-50 split and can guarantee his half, Pacquiao can fight in late May. Arum says Mayweather is "Plan A" for Pacquiao. Says he doesn't like the idea of doing the fight at the MGM Grand but will do it. Arum says he is guaranteeing Pacquiao's half, if someone guarantees Floyd's the fight "can be made in ten minutes." Arum says if the framework of a deal with Mayweather isn't in place by Saturday, Pacquiao will pick from the Cotto/Bradley/JMM/Peterson list. Many, various reasons that have already been stated in this thread. 1. Because the date has been reserved since November. 2. Because it will be good business on Cinco De Mayo 3. Because 'having a contract to fight on May 5th' is the reason the judge pushed back the date But, the main reason, is that Mayweather has had that date reserved from way back into November last year. That's the date. The problem before hand was the MGM Grand, now that isn't a problem. So, in result, May 5th is no longer a problem. Mayweather has a date reserved for May 5th with an opponent of his choice. Pacquaio is now available for that date. I don't know how this can be spelled out any clearer. I have got my hopes up too many times for this fight before, but not this time. I will believe the fight is happening when I see the two in the ring together.

Which has to be the most pathetic excuse I have ever heard in my life. They just don't want the fight and are going to the contrary of anything that Floyd asks for just to not make the fight happen. Silly me for actually thinking for one second that Pacquiao was actually gonna step up to the plate and just go all out and call Floyd's bluff on everything. I was wrong, Pacquiao wants an easy fight for his next fight just like he's been doing for the past 2 years. Hopefully Floyd capitalizes on this and fights a good challenge like Martinez or just a prime a opponent not named Guerrero, and no whack fighters like Cotto. As for Pacquiao, if no Mayweather fight, he'll have to fight Timothy Bradley just to save a little bit of face. Even then he'll still be looked at as a bitch. And Bradley would probably kick his ass too, so he'll look like a bitch for ducking Floyd, and then get his ass handed to him by Bradley. Then hopefully he just fights Marquez in a 4th fight and loses that one as well, then just retire and put an end to his fraud career.

Last time I checked, May 5th is not late May. Like everyone here, I'm making sh1t up... but think about it. MGM is not a problem anymore, and Manny said his cut is fine. They can fight on May 5th now, but since they initially said that they'll take less purse, Arum wants to backtrack and say 50/50. If I have points to bet, I'll bet all of it. Floyd bankrolls his guarantee for 50/50 and watch Arum says yes to May 5th. It's called posturing, both parties are negotiating in the media like they said they won't. Bastards.

I do have a question for you guys. For all the bull**** boxing fans have been put htrough for years. If Bob Arum can make this fight happen is he forgiven for all the bad he has done? Hell no.......This fight should have been made after Pacquiao Ko'd Hatton. Bob has been the problem. I bet manny would have taking blood test but Bob told him not to.

Then why not do it for May 5th :thinking: May 5th is the date. I don't understand why they don't just go with that. And if Cotto is in the mix for Pacquaio, where does that leave him with the possible Mayweather fight? Its psychology , accept a deal thats not the deal on offer and make sure you get an advantage , Bob knows the closer he can get to jail time 2 things happen , the less likely Floyd will want it , while Bob is hoping if Floyd say ok that he will be distracted by jail , why does it matter to Arum about Mays purse . Why does Arum ALWAYS complicate things with a whole bunch of nothing , and regarding purse didnt Pac say he would accept a lower than Floyd slice ,, I guess this is more BS from Top Rank .
