Will boxing flourish when Arum is gone?

As bad as Arum is he's a saint compared to Don King. Of all the bad things said about Bob, I've never heard a fighter say Bob didn't pay the contracted purse

Boxing will be AMAZING once Arum is gone. Arum is boxing cancer

Boxing would be better if Arum would listen to the People around him he needs to make fights that the fans want to see or he will be the next Don King.

Just like Heeb said, theres a lot more wrong with boxing than just arum. but hes a big part of the issue. Blame the sanctioning bodies before you blame Arum or any promoter. They open the doors to all sorts of ridiculousness like 17 weight classes, super champions etc., etc., etc. The promoters just do their job and play the hand that's dealt trying to gain any advantage they can. Like I said, we don't have to like it all, but that's how business gets done and nice guys finish last.

Yes my friends... I HAVE taken it THAT far.. Before beginning I must aggressively admit my true dislike towards Bob Arum so that there is NO confusion as to where I stand. Every single time that Bob Arum speaks. Boxing loses legitimacy. Every thought, every word. All of his actions are always much premeditated and precalculated. Every opponent selection, every venue selection and every questionable vacant title fight that features a Top Rank fighter... I have compiled a list that shows my reasoning behind this: 1. Floyd Mayweather is available to fight in May now.. Somehow Pacquiao isn't anymore due to a cut? 2. Pacquiao himself during a post fight interview said, "Lets give the fans what they want on May 5th." (Sounds ready to me) 3. JCC Jr. is NOT a Champion regardless of the WBC renting out their belt to TOP RANK. 4. Neither Pacquiao or Margarito were ranked when they fought for the mysterious "title" fight after conveniently waiting for the Martinez-Williams thing to play out to sign up for the "title" fight. 5. Arum waited for Paul Williams to vacate to sign Cotto up for a vacancy fight against the great Mick Jennings. 6. Somehow Margarito WILL get atleast one more title fight in 2012. 7. Juanma and Gamboa haven't fought yet after Arum's plans to milk Juanma backfired. 8. Arum calling out Floyd for a Cotto fight declaring Floyd scared of Cotto seemingly forgetting that Floyd asked for a Cotto fight after defeating Gatti while Cotto and Hatton sat ringside. 9. Berto-Cotto negotiations falling off twice due to Berto "allegedly" pricing himself out.... (liar cough cough) 10. Sergio Martinez needs to market himself better and become a draw. Apparently his thorough torturing of Pavlik, Williams, Dzinziruk, and Barker were NOT on HBO as main event attractions with great ratings. 11. After Sergio's demolishing of Pavlik... Bob protects Pacquiao, Cotto and JCCjr like children from an incoming drive-by shooting. 12. Mosley looked old and finished after drawing with Mora... Somehow he was strong and fast for a fight with Pacman after that. 13. Caballero calls Juanma a woman... Juanma fights other people calling Celestino a nobody whilst he was unified champion. 14. Clottey loses to Cotto... Fights Pacman for a title next. 15. Donaire shows he wants out of boxing's hell (top rank)... Arum threatens legal action. 16. Cotto has not resigned with Top Rank preferring free agency. 17. Two of the greatest fighters of all time DLH AND Floyd Mayweather jumped ship. 18. Golden Boy "allows" Marquez to take a "free agent" fight with Pacquiao so that Marquez could get his dream fight. Mosley had to leave GBP for Top Rank to take his fight. 19. Yuri Foreman was hyped to be sacrificed to Cotto. 20. Juan Manuel Marquez is a Top Rank fighter... according to Top Rank's website. 21. NOW Bradley is in the mix for a Pacquiao fight.. Arum previously said he wasn't marketable.... I thought Martinez was more marketable than Bradley... but what do I know...hmmm 22. GBP constantly puts pride aside and "allows" fighters to take Top Rank fights.... Top Rank does not. 23. Sergio Martinez is too big for Pacman... But Margarito and JCCJR aren't!!!! 24. Arum wanted a rematch right away and dismissed a Mayweather fight claiming Mexicans would hate on him. I could do this all day.... ALLTIME BEST!!!!!! Demanding a $10 million per pound penalty for each pound Floyd was overweight; seemingly trying to kill the fight thinking Floyd would reject.... which Floyd accepted. Then encouraging Pacquiao to press legal action against Floyd. This man has kept entire nations and the world from seeing a "spectacle" due to his greed. ONE man is responsible for all of this.. We won't get that fight until he is gone. Here's to YOUR health Bob... or lack of it!!!! Boxing will be fine without Arum. But your post shows exactly why he's one of the greatest promoters ever. Not even mentioning some of the greatest events he's promoted, everything you're complaining about is both good for him and his fighters. Every single promoter in history has operated this way but few have been as successful. You can hate his guts, but if you're talking about his fighters, his events or even him than he has done his job and you've unwittingly bought into it regardless of how you feel. You've paid attention to it all and that is exactly what a promoter is supposed to do. Fighters don't sign with Arum because he sucks at his job.

Dont buy the flomo hype. Before arum it was don king. After arum itll be delahoya or duboef. Nothing will change but the name. Don King (and Bob Arum back then) put on stacked cards and huge events and weren't holding up big fights from happening.

I couldnt read all of this, but funny u posted the thread...I was just pondering that...Arum is crazy if he thinks the youngins at TR wont change top rank once he dies....Tod is young, hip, and everyone gets along with him....TR will work similar to how goldenboy works....having their fighters fight eachother and other promoters....Arum is from an era where the promoters competed with eachother....and acted childish in order to get revenge against eachother...in this era, the guys are more mature and are willing to be the bigger person as if it was never an issue You mean how Golden Boy hoarded and stole the big names from smaller promoters in 2005-2007 during the time when Oscar (then the biggest cash cow) was still active. Or how GB took all the prime HBO dates using Oscar as a selling point, and have themselves alienated by smaller promoters like Duva promotions, Main Event, etc... lol.. Right now, Top Rank has one of the 2 biggest name in the sport( with the other one being a free agent). So its using it as leverage to one up other promoters.. Not really a ideal situation that you want to support.. But dont think Golden Boy didnt do same thing when they had Oscar, or even when King had Tyson before that...

Nah. GBP will take his place. I'd say boxing will flourish if Floyd and Pac are gone. Those number's 2-10 will fight each other again rather than wait for the Pac/Floyd sweepstakes.

I think there is a promoter waiting in the wings to do the same things Arum has been doing and will do.
