Now what ? PPV sales have been disappointing this year for UFC and now their main man is done.
I wouldnt even bring this up if people on facebook and stuff wouldnt bust my balls about boxing being dead. Boxing had what 1.5, 1.4 million, and 600K buys for Pac, Mayweather, and Cotto.
Good luck UFC !
MMA isn't a sport, it's filed under "sports entertainment"
Boxing, baseball, football, basketball are sports with real athletes getting paid real money
Like I said before, a benchwarmer in the NBA makes more money than the biggest cash cow in MMA.
Ortiz made more in his first PPV
exactly just like boxing is an official OLYMPIC sport and MMA is not
Exactly! Two different sports fella's...

Yeah I agree, but what the vast majority of people in both mma and boxing fail to comprehend is that the "boxing" in mma is and must be fundamentally different than in boxing.
if you were to go into an mma fight with the textbook boxing stance with the tight guard and weight on your lead leg you would get absolutely destroyed by someone with halfway decent defense. The boxer's power would be rendered useless if backed up in a clinch
Exactly! Two different sports fella's...
It was like if Wlad was fighting Micheal Grant~ hard to consider that evenly matched even if they look like they belong in the same ring.
I wasn't even dogging MMA, I am fine with it just that it cracks me up that people watch it to see knock outs when the punches that get thrown are so terrible to anyone that watches boxing, but if a punch is thrown from row zz and a guy allows it to land sure that is exciting.

We can trash ufc all day but at the end of the day I cant even remember the last heavyweight fight in boxing as evenly matched size and physique wise as lesnar-overeem.

Lads thy are two different sports, MMA guys couldnt cut it vs top boxers in boxing matches and visa vers....
We dont compare Baseball players against Tennis players...
all in all, it was a great performance by that overeem dude, i liked nate diaz boxing skills. played with that honkey tonk white dude.
fact: love how UFC brands themselves, has tv deals, promotes! its fighters,
boxing: yes top fighters are popular, all 5, al paid well, too well in fact, promoters need to take a chunk, and promote the damn fighters.
at least in the US. as a
Nate's boxing skills? Lmao what skills? That dude would be bum ass boxer Cowboy was just a punching bag with no head movement. There's a reason these guys wouldn't dare boxing B or even C level boxers.
lol whatever you have to say to justify it, Toney was mouthing off with the same **** being said in this thread like "MMA fighters suck, they are **** athletes, Boxing is the real mans sport" and he got a rude awakening. Couture has never talked **** about boxing.
Couldn't care less. Couture would never be successful in boxing. He'd get eaten alive by any top 50 cruiser or heavy, point blank.
The thing that bugs me the most is that every white boy (most my friends are and black) u meet is a fuking mmgayer now a days... I can enjoy an MMA fight but the fans are annoying and on top of that what the **** are u doing in a boxing forum??? :bottle::bottle:
MMA fans love knock outs, hence why they like Mike Tyson.
If a heavyweight was actually putting dudes to sleep (in the ring not on their couches) they would love that dude also, that is the sad state of heavyweight boxing what was once common place is now a distant memory~

a former p4p #1 boxer, never finished in over 70 fights doesn't even make it out of the first round in his mma debut against a 48 year old :loser:

A former MMA heavyweight champ, never knocked out in 30 fights doesnt even make it out of the first 9 seconds against a 48 year old :loser:
Why do people keep thinking MMA fighters get paid slave wages?

MMA Brock Lesnar UFC Estimated Prize Money, ppv share $5,300,000
So Brock netted somewhere around $5.3 million in 2010 for 2 fights. Around $2.5 million a fight when all PPV buy earnings are added.
That's about what Ortiz made against Floyd in what was his first PPV fight...
Great. So when is Couture going to try his luck at boxing?
Better yet, why not get Silva to go back to boxing where he was just another average joe....?

Overeem is a badass though, he will do good business...
Lesner did well in the UFC considering his lack of real experience and he got me intrested a bit, i watched the fight from last night and quite enjoyed it...
UFC is pretty good, i view it as another contact sport to COMPLEMENT boxing
Boxing will ALWAYS be the Daddy though!!! :boxing:
UFC has a lot to like, the best fight the best, the promotion is exciting and well packaged and a loss dosn't mean everyone will turn their backs on you!
Boxing could learn from this imo, still the end product cant even get near boxing not even close - Boxing is The Greatest Sport on Earth
This is 100% correct.
On boxing, if lose you are hit will all kinds of hate from "hater fans" comments like "passed prime", "never that good", "overated" etc... :lame:
In UFC/MMA if you quit to protect your self from harm/undue damage is called "tap-out" and you live to fight another day with no hate from fans but on boxing, you get hit with loaded wraps, and "take a knee" to protect your self...its considered "quitting" and haters will never stop talking $hit. For example.

Anderson Silva buys a $1.76 million dollar home in CA. Mind you he also has 2 nice homes in Brazil

Chuck Liddell owns a Ferrari, Hummer, 4600 sq ft home in an expensive area of CA .... Hes worth millions
Jon Jones bought a $200k Bentley....yes all slave wages.

MMA fighter don't make much at all. Yes, the Silva's, Lesnar's, Jones' will get theirs; Just as the Mayweather's will and the James', Durant's, and Howard's, etc.... Fact of the matter is that the Nick Diaz', GSP's, and Silva's are getting the paydays that Sergio Martinez and Andre Ward get. Compared to us, it's big, big money... but in their line of work, it's not a pleasant living.
It's amazing how naive some people are towards the UFC. Ok, we get it, you're a Boxing fan and don't like MMA and want to stand up proud and rep Boxing over UFC, yet, they're getting the recognition on the mainstream Boxing NEEDS and fans are begging for. I love Boxing, but c'mon man, lol, give it a rest. Both sports are doing just fine. I hate Nascar, so why would I bother ridiculing it? Ten years old do that.
Its not that I am naive its just that the UFC folks I encounter are so obnoxious and think that the UFC will be right alongside the NFL soon and that boxing is on life support. So to me it is good for them people to get knocked off their high horse sometimes.
There's no real proof that the UFC has done one million plus for any PPV event (I'm sure they have a few times), Dana White and the UFC never release official numbers. Kind of how Bob Arum has been doing lately and just throwing numbers out there.
But it really is sad how little the fighters get paid, they stack their cards because the fighters make peanuts. If boxers earned peanuts we'd see some great stacked cards like Mayweather, Bradley, Gamboa, and Canelo all on the same card (against stellar competition) can you imagine that? Reason I expect the UFC to encounter the same issues that boxing has, I don't expect the UFC to believe they will always have a stronghold on the MMA world forever and fighters are going to realized they're getting slave wages.
