Lots of guys here think Pacquiao's nice guy persona is a fake

I don't think his persona is "fake" per say, but I think it is greatly exaggerated. I do believe he is a genuinely nice guy (except to his wife), but because Philippines is so heavily Christian I think they play up his faith and things like that to make him more appealing over there. Also this idea of him starving on the streets teaching himself to box is complete horsesh*t...he was provided room and board by the National Philippines Amateur Team and had 40-50 some bouts as an amateur. Again I think they play up many aspects of him to make him more appealing. the poverty pac experienced isn't really hore**** though. he still came up the hard way despite having been given a room and board by the national amateur team. interesting video of where pac used to stay when he was i think around 15 or something..

well pac is definitely not a saint, but he doesn't talk alot of smack against his opponents, he doesn't go around talking about how rich he is or that he is the greatest of all time, and he seems to get along with alot of other boxers and people. so, in that respect he is considered a nice, humble and down to earth person.

WTF! He has no amateur boxing background, unless you consider the streetfighting type he has done just to buy food for the day. both of you guys are.... making... my head.... explode..... Pac has been living in the streets for some time (not a very long time) but yea he does have an amateur record of around 64 fights i think

The fact that NSB is full of moronic 16 year olds probably has something to do with it. The guy is pure class, but no one is perfect.

i'm pretty sure hes a genuinely overall a nice guy. i do see his cockiness at times, but compared to a lot of boxers, he is one of the nice and classiest boxers in the sport. although i dont think hes SUPER christian like the media wanted the world to see. like the HBO crew reminding him to pray in the corner.

I do agree Manny's image is way exaggerated, if he was as nice as everyone says he is he would be God. Dude is human so of course he has his flaws just like everyone else. If Bill Clinton can cheat on his wife, Im sure Manny can too. Not saying he did but the important thing is I think he TRIES harder than most people to live a good christian life. I do not agree Mayweather's image is exaggerated though. He is a wannabe thug who always plays the race card no matter what the topic is. He has no social skills whatsoever and speaks the english language as well as a 7 year old kid. Im sure he has SOME nice qualitites, but for the most part if he wasnt any good at boxing, he would be working at McDonald's or something to that effect. Same thing with Manny, he would probably be a fisherman in his country if he couldnt box. Nothing wrong with either one of those jobs, they are both a honest living so im not hating. I'm sure Manny is a nice guy. But the media makes him out to be perfect. And when someone appears to be that perfect, in my opinion, its fake. George St. Pierre is the same thing. Nobody is that perfect. Let's be honest. Which is why I prefer the personality of Nick Diaz. He may be labeled a bad guy, but at least he's real.

you could just as easily titled it "Lots of Floyd fans..." since those hatings usually come from this group only. the guy is no saint, but writers, journalists, fans, actors, and everyday people local or foreign would say otherwise what haters would. I know, but i didnt want to start a flaming war. I really just want to know why they feel this way. I myself do think hes a really nice guy. Maybe they play it up a little much in the media, but i believe most of it.
