I posted this in a chat but from my thoughts what's wrong with boxing is there is no reward in winning anymore. Perfect example Cintron Got his ass whooped by Carlos Molina but yet he is getting a title shot. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Thoughts please also list what do u guys think is the biggest problem with boxing.
Corruption, greed, and people wanting to take the easy road to big paydays.
You got probably the two top people right now (Mayweather and Pac) who can't make a fight because both camps are playing games. They don't want to fight any of the other top fighters because they can't generate enough of a following to make a fight worth while. They end up fighting people like Mosley, who is old and way past his prime because he can boost PPV numbers. When they fight people like that, you end up with poor fights and the followers get mad. Then you get fights like Maywheather - Ortiz, the way it went down was a disgrace and puts yet another stain on the Mayweather brand. Same thing with Pacman - Marquez. Regardless of which fighter you are a fan of, it was a limited action/boring fight. It isn't Mayweather, Ortiz, Pacman, or Marquez that lost, it is the fan that took the big hit. I bet if Manny and Floyd would fight in May, they wouldn't generate near the revenue they would have if they would have fought 6 months ago.
Now you have people like Bradly, Khan, Berto, and Martinez (just to name a few) who basically grab a title and all they want to do is cherry pick their opponents, in hopes they will get a big payday with either Maywheather or Pacman by the process of May or Pac not having anyone else to fight. May and Pac don't want to fight any of them because they can't generate PPV numbers, mostly because they cherry pick opponents. The last good fight Khan was in was with Maidana. He doesn't want to fight Maidana again because he may loose, and loose his chance of maybe getting the big payday, so he has been cherry picking every since. Bradly has been cherry picking also. He has had his to make bigger fights with people like Khan, but if he does, chances are that he will lose and loose his shot at an easy payday. Berto, the same thing. He took a fight with Ortiz, because he thought that since Ortiz lost to Maidana and hasn't looked good in his fights after that, it would be an easy fight and help build up his fan base. Little did he know, Ortiz came to fight that night and derailed his plans. Martinez is no better. After he got a name because of his lucky punch against Paul Williams, all he has wanted to do is cherry pick in hopes he will get a shot at a money fight. There are good fights for him if he moves up one weight class. I think he doesn't want to do that because he isn't nearly as good as people thinks he is, so he just wants to wait around, fighting nobodies, in hopes a cash cow comes his was so he can cash out while he can.
The sad thing is, I have seen as good of fights, if not better on Friday Night Fights this year, as I have seen on any PPV fights I have ordered lately.
Yea FNF did have some great fights this year far better than any ppv fights I've seen lately because them guys have nothing to lose and go all out

It's hard to read ur post with that sexy as chick on ur picture avatar but I get what u mean. Like perfect example The Kirkland fight is crazy if u haven't seen it watch it. I respect he got knocked out and is trying to prove he ain't a soft chin
lol yeah that was a great fight and respect to kirkland for wanting to prove himself. You dont see a lot of fighters do that. When they run into a style that gives them probelms they tend to run for the hills to avoid another fight like that.
They don't have a Governing Body...it is NOBODY TO ANSWER TO...NOBODY TO REGULATE THINGS AND TO KEEP THINGS IN ORDER
The Promoters and the Networks Run Boxing and their GREED is RUINING BOXING, Networks kiss Promoters asses because they want to be able to BROADCAST THE FIGHTS
This is why the Ass Kissing for Pacquiao was at a ALL TIME HIGH during the JMM fight, because HBO wants to be able to Broadcast the Next Fight and they don't want him to go back to Showtime...so again your putting the Power into the PROMOTERS HANDS
Yea it's sad like people talk about Don king but Arum is him just white.

Its because we are not looking at boxers anymore. We are looking at a product. At the end of the day the goal is to have the product rake in the dough. FLoyd and Manny are products now which is killing the sport. Thats why you have all these fighters dancing around eachother for the easiest way to snag a belt. Khan looses to a heavy hitter , what do you do- cherry pick feather fists for a while. Bradley sees a chance for a big payday with manny, what do you do - avoid a fight with a guy that would make you the ruler of the 140 pound division. Chavez and Alvarez are champions and no one can explain why. Morales (who i like) wins a belt for fighting nobody. The politics seem to be getting worse.

well, Cintron rebounded with a decent win over Antwone Smith, is a well known name, and is still a top fighter in the division.
There are much worse things happening in boxing than Cintron getting a title shot.
But by all means I completely believe Molina should be getting a title shot. Hes earned it.
Thank u, that's all I'm saying
I'm under the impression that boxing has always been corrupt and ugly in the business of it.
It's not what the judges and sanctioning bodies make of it. It's what we the fans make of it that is important. Two great fighters are like jazz. JMM and Manny are like Miles Davis and John Coltrane tradin' licks in the same song. Do I care what some record company suit or music reviewer thinks of what they sound like? Or which one he thinks is better? Fvck no. I'm just consumed by how badass they sound.
If you're a boxing fan you expect some tawdry sh1t, but put up with it because you love the sport.
Good analyst because whether I agreed with the decision or not it was a good fight

Boxing suffers from a lack of unified governing bodies. The business side has destroyed the sport side. There is very little sport in professional boxing, it's just cynical businessman disguised as sanctioning bodies, greedy promoters who want to protect and monopolize their assets... and last of all the fighters, who are often sold short, ripped off and discarded by the bloodsuckers around them.
I couldn't have said it better man, I know we all want to boycott but it's something we love. It's hard to do even with the bs
I have to disagree.
I've been waiting on Silva vs GSP for the last 2 years along with Mayweather vs Pac.
Dana completely ruined the chance of Fedor vs Brock when they were both at the top of their game. There's a few more matches we missed due to Dana's greed and control.
The UFC isn't too far behind in missed opportunities for great fights.
I'll give u Fedor but the Silva GSP is something the guys don't want, I read and article with GSP in menshealth and he said he wants the fight in the future but as one of his last fights because the change in weight is not as easy as people think. I didn't hear anything from silva except that GSP was a good fighter but he was in another weight class.

yep! On saturday while watching the PAc fight I said something along the lines of, "If you're into boxing. My two favorite up and coming guys to watch right now are Nonito Donaire and Yuriorkis Gamboa, those guys are the future of boxing." And some guy turns around and goes, "psshhhh Can they beat Pacquiao or Mayweather???" I just stopped talking because I figured it'd be like explaining boxing to a rock.
Yea it's at a point where it's ridiculous it's like how can u be a media for sports but can't do the job right. And bringing up them guys is a perfect example because they both are good fighters who deserve recognition but unless they r fight manny or floyd it's **** them. It's crazy
I think that's the media like espn a sports channel etc u can't rely on them guys to talk about the sport and be unbiased like u said if it ain't about pac or may it's **** the rest and it's just wrong

I feel that one of the biggest problems with Boxing right now is the promotion. If you go around and ask 10 random people on the street about Boxing, I can guarantee you the two most common names you hear are Pacquiao and Mayweather, which is fine because they're the two biggest stars of boxing. It's like how I don't bother with Basketball but I know who Lebron James is. But even some people who stick their nose in the sport barley hear about other top fighters. Sergio MArtinez, Andre Ward, Nonito Donaire, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Tim Bradley, and the list goes on. People don't need to know every detail about these guys but they deserve a lot more light than they're getting.
That, and having a gazillion titles and champs in a division...
