Floyd says he's God gifted, but I must say I disagree. I think Floyd just trains his assss off. When I think of people who are God gifted, I think of guys who have a lot of natural power and stamina. Guys like Prince Naseem, who doesn't really put that much work into training, but will get knockouts. Basically, people who were born with natural gifts. They say punching power is born and not made. So that would be considered a gift from God. The person didn't work for that natural power. That person was already born with it. But I feel like Floyd actually works and trains his asss off. I mean, to be honest, I've never seen a harder worker than Floyd. Even when he does have all that money, he trains like he's broke.
U dont have to believe in God etc, but believe this...No matter how hard you train, no matter how many hours you spend hitting the bag, lifting weights, or running. If it aint in you it aint in you. Now ask yourself this....how did it get into FLoyd Mayweather Jr?
his dad and uncle wasnt even on this guys level so it couldnt be his GENES...theres no such thing as a BOXING GENE. They may be good trainer but they cant train everyone to be a floyd mayweather jr....so his talents would have to be GOD GIVEN...
Not saying that GOD loves floyd more, we all have talents...FLoyd is just a wizard in the ring....NO PEDS...just talent..
you hit the nail on the head. there is no boxing gene, or at least none that scientists have found.
The main difference between floyd and his father is that SR didn't have the luxury of knowing exactly how to train to eventually become a superstar.
Floyd jr was guided how to train exactly how you should to be efficient.
That combined with his father (most likely) pushing him really hard when he didn't want to box etc, made him really extraordinary.
The exact same thing can be said for Tiger Woods, and how his father drove him to excel in golf.
His biggest "talent" is his work ethic. No one works harder and has been for almost 30 years. Thats the answer.
"Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect"
Both. He is a natural born athlete plus he works hard. Combine that with excellent coaching and grooming as he was coming up and you have Floyd Mayweather.
Flyd dont fight as much as your average boxer, so he has more time on his hands to train in the art of boxing. Whereas other fighters spend their time fighting.
Floyd probably dont have any other hobbies than boxing so he gives a lot of time to learing boxing.
He busts his ass in training, not shown hes god given talent. Nothing to suggest that.
True greatness is achieved when natural talent coincides with hard work and determination.
Hard work is great but it can only overcome so much natural talent.
Natural talent is great but without hard work one will never get the most out of it.
And if you mind is not in proper condition none of either will matter much because when the moments come one will not have the wherewithal to take advantage.

maybe GOD isn't real and we're investing time into meaningless questions that mean nothing.

He bust his ass, give the man credit everything he has earned he has earned it in the gym, fights are won in the gym.
Plus God doesnt gift anybody with the ability of a ***** like sucker punch
Both.
He was born with great speed, great reflexes.
The rest... Timing, accuracy, ring IQ, defense... all from hard work.
....and Bingo was his name...
the whole idea of people being born to do certain things are silly in their own rights. It's interesting that the most successful people are also the hardest workers.
The whole idea of "talent" is mostly made up due to people being lazy/stupid and want an explanation as to why they are not extraordinary.
God given talent? Thats just silly.
Hes worked extremely hard, being guided to train right/perfect from infancy. That combined with somewhat favorable gene makeup makes him the fighter he is.
But i truly believe his work ethic, and being taught how to train right is the single most important ingredient in floyds brilliance.

If you really believe in your comments then there is no need for you to make comments..."meaningless?" you already invested your time in this thread.
....TS asked a question I answered......
you got butthurt because you felt I was restricting your religious freedom lol
Ok. I don't want to make this a religious debate. All I meant by God gifted was you were born with something. Goodness. Some people are born with crazy traits like size. And some were born with nothing and had to work their ass off for what they get.
Me personally, I usually root for the guys that bust their ass and become the best. No head starts. No advantages right from the start. Not hating on guys that do have head starts. All the power to them. But me personally, I'm not a guy who has punching power myself, so I can relate to the guys who have to practice their timing and reflexes to counter and use their brains as well as their bodies. And from what I've seen from Floyd, it seems like he is more of a hard worker than God gifted.
I'm just one of those guys that believes that a dropout can defeat a genius with hard work.
Unnecessary = without necessity
why was it unnecessary? because I didn't disrespect anyone's religious beliefs and didn't deny or restrict the religious rights of anybody. I simple made a post that was relevant to the topic in hopes of creating thought.
which made your post redundant.
