I was just reading the measured against time - trinidad article and it got me thinking about the tito-oscar fight.I think Oscar won that fight but Tito got the decision so I think rematch would have been in order but there never was one,why was that?could someone enlighten me,please
I remember after he got the gift decision over Ike Quartey, Larry Merchant asks him, "this was such a great fight and so many people got pleasure out of it, do you want to give the public a rematch of this fight"?
Oscar CLEARLY ducking the rematch says "I don't know, you think it was a great fight Larry, I don't really think so. There are bigger and better fights out there for me, I know that!" After hearing him say that, all I could think was "what a fraud!"
LMFAO, Oscar was far from a fraud. The Golden Boy fought a prime Trinidad, Vargas, Mayweather, Pacman and Hopkins plus many more. Dude, dared to be great plenty of times anyone who calls him a fraud don't know 2 cents about boxing
Oscar didn't do rematches if he felt it was too risky. Only people that got rematches were old ass Chavez and Mosley (after many thought Shane was done).

to be fair oscar was robbed in that rematch, its funny because you would think star power and all that other sh!t would have worked in the 03 rematch but i guess not, i guess he needed it for the great felix sturm. oscar never looked so horrible.
boxers are afraid. just look at floyd's face when margarito confronted him.
fighters ask for more than they are worth all the time because they are scared of losing. check out how much floyd wanted to fight a 140 pound cotto and compare that to his previous career high at that time. ridiculous. sometimes guys flat out refuse to fight other guys that would make them huge money and they go on vacation or they fight unknown journeymen from argentina instead.
it's not about the "benjamins" at all. that's just public relations to make it sound like they aren't ducking. everyone has a list of opponents they will and won't fight and they choose the opponent on the will fight list that would make them the most. making a little less to ensure victory isn't so bad. you can still trick a lot of people into thinking you are great simply by continuing to win over mediocre opposition.
I'm talking about ODLH and Tito.. The fight went off because obviously Oscar wants a bigger slice while Tito don't give in because he thinks he deserves a fair share.
I can't speak for PBF since I never follow him. But you have a point though.
any non bias boxing fans knows its all about the benjamins..
that's how boxers roll in the before.. no one is afraid of each other..
as long as they get what they think they worth, the fight is a go..

the rematch didn't happen cause dlh didn't want to give up the bigger purse to tito
Actually Oscar did not wanted a 50 / 50 deal he wanted more that was the reason. Look for it
Dela Hoya wants no part of Tito at 160lbs, but he fought Bernard Hopkins, when he has no business fighting at the middleweight, turned friendly and affectionate afterwards to the man who knock him out with a body shot.
It didn't happen cuz' Oscar made issues about the weight. But, funny enough jumped up to 154 when Tito made the move to 160. And, yes money as well. Hell Tito got a guaranteed 10mil for the first fight. And, Oscar in a Spanish interview said, "10mil? Wow, eso es mucho(that's a lot)" insinuating that tito was getting over paid. Hence why in the post fight interview Tito asked him if he's worth the 10mil now. Which Oscar implied in his answer that it was his way of trash talking.

Simple.........................$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Trinidad wanted to get the lions share of the money.
He once said that if Delahoya wants a rematch, he should put trinidad's name on the new contract where oscars name was on the first contract.
Oscar got the lions share during their first fight.
Trinidad was very upset because Oscar said he wasn't worth the 10million he was getting for fighting Oscar.
Thats why after the fight, Tito was in the ring and asked Oscar (am I now worth the 10 million)
They never fought again because of money. Thats the sole reason. All this talk about because he was scared or the other guy was scared is nonsense. Oscar and Tito werent scared of anyone. It was simply a problem about money.
Oscar was the cash cow and always called the shots as far as money on the negotiating table and Tito wanted more money than what he was being offered. Don King was in Tito's ear telling him that he won so he should make more money (although anyone with 2 good eyes saw Oscar outbox Tito) so Tito stuck to his guns that he wanted more money and therefore the fight never happened.
Oscar wasnt too happy with giving Tito more money especially since he really did beat Tito and Tito and them were acting like they really won the fight so ultimately Don King fukked up and gassed Tito up and the fight never happened.
Blame Ego and Money for that fight not happening.
It never happened because triniwraps stopped using illegal wraps after loosing to Bhop. Imagine if he went in there against DLH without them? he would have gotten KTFO.
Thank you for posting sir, your idiocy us noted!
Trinidad was corpsed at WW and simply couldnt do it again, its probably why Oscar did so well against him anyway, it certainly didnt help Tito's case.
Trinidad went to 154 and looked BRUTAL, after seeing Felix lookin so strong at the weight i dont think Oscar wanted it knowing this was a guy who while dead at the weight still managed to run him out of the ring in the late rounds of their fight. Trinidad would have took that fight, he'd want more money than before and he'd deserve it too but Oscar would still be the main earner.
I remember King Proclaiming - IF OSCAR DONT WANT IT WE DONT CARE! WE'LL FIGHT ,,,,,,,,,,,, WE'LL FIGHT.......(I Forget all the names he said except James Page!) WE'LL FIGHT ANYONE! WE'LL MAKE THE MONEY - WE DONT CARE!"
but he outboxed him easily, he was giving him a boxing lesson....:lol1:
Oscar knew what was in store in the rematch so he went to fight Derrell Coley.
:lol1:
If he was outboxing him so easy he wouldn't have started running in the later rounds. Obviously it wasn't that easy. SMH @ Oscar running away from the rematch.
