Not sure if this was tweeted yet but I'm told Manny Steward will not be training Miguel Cotto for his fight with Antonio Margarito.

Don't tell me he is picking up Roach or anyone to try and change him in just one fight. He was doing good with Steward.
Roach has Khan going the week after so I doubt he trains Cotto as well
Damn, now Cotto's shot as well...
What are u getting at here?
Neither guy is what the were but the can both still kick ass and this fight is legit
well if this is about money, i dont see cotto getting any "named" trainer he will probably get someone similar when he fought Pac and Miguel will run the whole show...
Why are people so alarmed about this? Cotto doesn't need Steward for this fight, the man is a veteran and he's been in the sport long enough to handle this fine.
Cottos team knows what they have to do, even a street light bum knows what the gameplan is.
Cotto will be fine, the man is a living legend. Richardson would be a good choice if he does decide to look for another trainer.
Also, **** Steward.. he is a little punk. I better not come across him in real life or I'll lay him flat!
this thread is based on twitter. Wait for the facts or lack there of.......
There is nothing on the papers here in PR but from what I seen by tweets and pictures Steward is not in Florida training Cotto right now. I think we will get an answer to all of this in the end I think they are still going over numbers if it is really about money.
I didnt like what Steward was doing with Cotto anyway. He was turning him into a passive non aggressive boxer. I want the old Cotto back. The one who use to unleash a furious body attack on his opponents.
I hadn't thought about that!
But on the Steward issue, I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. I don't remember where I read it, but I read somewhere that Steward is known to be a fairly expensive trainer which is why some people refuse to hire him.
Look at Cintrón, Taylor , Chad, now Cotto...
I read in Oscar's autobiography that he didn't like having Steward a lot as his trainer because he wasn't the type of trainer to constantly push you. He said that Emanuel was the type of trainer who, if you said you wanted to train on certain days, he'd ease up. If you wanted to take a day off, he'd let you. Sort of a lax trainer, at least that's Oscar's account.
From American Son? I read that one, ODH says Stewrds idea of a training camp was a few games of basketball....
I wasnt/am not sold on Manny in the corner but the seem to work well and changing trainer right before a MEGA fight isnt the wisest..... but hey if there is dispute it wont make for a healthy training camp. Id LOVE to see Cotto work with Nacho but thats not happening. So next best thing, Richardson - sign him up Migs!!!
who cares, Steward is garbage anyways
Honestly... I think Steward is overrated. He also does not seem like he truly gives a shet about any fighter other than Hearns and Lewis..
I think he learned what he can learn form Steward already. Steward looks like a lost old man lately.
Agree with these. Stewards best days are gone. With or without manny cotto is losing this fight. His only chance is that ariza training method
Cotto has been a hard headed mother fkr for a while now. Does not surprised me one bit. I think they made a good team, I don't see Brother Naz as compatible as Manny Steward. We all know Roach is not an option either. Maybe he should just go make up with Evangelista or maybe hire Papa Trinidad. He needs someone not named Joe Santiago.
This better get squared away fast. Cotto would NOT hire another elite trainer, the stubborn fcuk would probably have Phil Landman as the lead corner guy.
Cotto is going to lose this fight. What a dumb move.
To be honest,I don't know how Cotto can win a rematch anyways.I always thought that he did as good as he could in the first fight, but he just couldn't keep up that sorta pace the entire night.Margarito has his number.
It's a stupid move. His only hope now is Nazim Richardson. He doesn't know how to fight backwards. He needs to learn how to clinch. If he doesn't he's going to lose this fight and it's gonna be brutal.
